Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is -2°C and foggy. This miserable weather is never ending.
A very busy day yesterday, in fact non-stop. I had to do the school run, which was horrendous. DH had somehow managed to book a dental appointment, when he was booked to do the school run.
He then took me to Next at Braehead to look at ceiling lights. The one we have, although only a few years old, is faulty. After an hour of negotiating, I got my wish, along with a beautiful matching floor lamp.
While in Next, I saw a text on my phone, saying that the hospital would phone in the afternoon, such a relief.
The result, I have to stop my biologics immediately. The RA specialist nurse was shocked at how unwell I was and advised phoning my GP for an urgent appointment to get some relief for my symptoms.
After battling with the one receptionist, whom I dread getting and who said I had to phone at 8am for an appointment, I secured a triage appointment that afternoon.
She was the rudest GP, I had ever encountered in my life. She talked through me, was dismissive and suggested I buy Bonjela and take some pain relief, such as paracetamol. 😡😡😡😡😡😡 I pointed out that I was already on controlled drugs for pain, and had worked my way through various precription medications for my mouth, so that was not an option.
However, she didn't realise that she was speaking to a veteran, fighter of one's own corner.
I reverted to teacher mode and in my most polite tone, I questioned whether she had actually read my record and was she aware of my multiple conditions, how they impacted on each other and the fact that I rarely contacted the surgery for help.
Eventually, she admitted that she had no idea how to help and that the hospital should have told her what to prescribe. I was beyond furious and extremely tearful.
I did secure a prescription, but if it works, it will take weeks for my mouth and throat to heal, due to the half life of the biologics.
The downside is, there will be consequences and I am guaranteed an RA flare up. You win some, you lose some! When I asked if there were any contra-indications with my other meds, ( it often happens), she hung up! Obviously my ten minutes were up.
It was only when I was stuck in horrific traffic congestion, on my was to pick up the script, that I realised that she was the GP, who previously dismissed my concerns about my heart. A week later, I found myself in Coronary Care.
We are girding our loins for the arrival of the human dynamo.
I was too unwell to look after her last week and have missed her.
It will be the swings and coffee in the park café. She asked for a walk and papa's cake. We have decided to buy her a scone of her own, she demolished papa's the last time and he was not amused! 😂
I hope your wee one improves, Bella, he could be my son's twin. Chronic asthma, frequent chest infections and multiple allergies, when he was little.
It is heartbreaking to see them so unwell.
Auntieflo and GG, I hope you find some improvement today. 💐
Best wishes to all, who are struggling or unwell and happy holidays to the travellers.
Have a good day, folks.
