My auntie 83 (late mum's sister) DH died 3 weeks ago.
Funeral was last Friday 28th.
Today one of uncles friends 87 asked her for a date.
As in his words 'life is to short to be on our own '
And it was definitely a date dinner and maybe a dance.

At first glance, I thought the thread was about Cystic Fibrosis!

People who resort to that sort of language probably have a limited vocabulary.

CF is frequently used on MN.

What is it then ?

It's a term that describes a man who does what men do to a woman -using vulgar words beginning with C and F.

OldFrill Mon 03-Mar-25 23:24:37

What was auntie's response?

He is right, life is very short, but tackless for him to ask so quickly, not a CF in my opinion.

I wouldn’t class cheeky as vulgar 😂

Does auntie want to go on a date? Does she want to date him?

I disagree with the idea that life is to short to be on our own. It's fine to be single at any age, if that's what you want.

I thought this too!

Sorry for using the term CF. It's as said used a lot on MN.

Auntie was upset that she only buried uncle on Friday.
Now she is laughing at the thought people might think she
is a merry widow.
She did tell him no. I wasn't there so don't know how she said no.

I find all these abbreviations very confusing. I know it saves time in writing but the reader than has to translate.

On the subject matter, this man is obviously very insensitive, so her response is surely predictable.

Oldbat1 Tue 04-Mar-25 10:05:30

Still none the wiser.

Jaxjacky Tue 04-Mar-25 10:37:23

I’d say he was opportunistic!

Oh dear. I quite often tease my youngest GS and tell him he has a c&£\@y face. I really had no idea I was being vulgar.sad

You learn something new every day on GN.

No, it’s an often used term on MN to describe someone taking the mick, or abusing someone else’s good nature.

E.g. endlessly expecting lifts which take the driver well out of her way, or frequently asking friends or even mere acquaintances for free childcare, maybe for a couple of hours, and failing to collect the children until 4 hours after the time she’d specified.
