Conspiracy Theory anyone?
(147 Posts)There has been much discussion on the book Becoming Brigitte by Xavier Possard.
Based on a conspiracy theory, being thoroughly researched by several French journalists, culminating in this book.
For those yet in in the know, the author Possard sets out in his book a timeline of events to prove that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman ie born a man transitioned to a woman.
Met Macron as a 14year old school boy, whilst living as a woman and his teacher.
If anyone has read it, what are your views?
Here are some more to jog your memories.
JFK murdered by Mossad/CIA/Mafia
Covid came from a lab leak in Wuhan
Mrna vaccines leak foreign DNA into our bodies
Moon Landings are faked
Michelle Obama is also a transitioned man.
Barack Obama is having an affair with Jennifer Anniston (although I'm not sure if this is just classed as a rumour ).
The world is flat
CO2 is heating up the world
We have been invaded by Aliens (UFO type) who look like lizards
4/5G damages human DNA
GM plants will infest natural plants
to name a few.
Are there any others I don't know about and haven't listed here?
Is it purely the weight of evidence which sways a reader to decided such-and-such is no longer a conspiracy?
Or the weight of authority ie The King/Prim Minister/expert now believe this so I must rethink it also?
Or time passing, so the event in question no longer has the political strength to prevent or encourage a certain outcome?
More interestingly, is there a position once considered a conspiracy theory, that you held but later on changed your mind?
In chat because it could be interesting and lighthearted.
Not argumentative or political, but who knows this is GN

That doesn’t mean she didn’t have MH issues when she wrote it. Maybe that sort of unbalanced stuff is where H got it from.
I always believed Diana was murdered. Still do. Probably the only ‘theory’ that is believable. Who was responsible I wouldn’t have a clue though there are plenty of theories about that as I am sure everyone knows.
The CT around when I was young was that the moon landing was faked because of the way shadows fell or something. Now that I never believed.
Allira

Agreed Allira - not even the flat earth stuff is interesting or amusing.
Oh, NotSpaghetti, that's the only one which just might be true 😂
We've got a huge map of the Earth at home, and it's flat, honestly.
😂😂😂
It does invite questions about how suspicious we should be about what we are told and by whom.
I have a theory that CTs are believed by anxious people because the idea of things being random or coincidental makes them nervous.
By the way we have a globe at home. Does change how you view the world. Russia's very close to the US..
I'm guessing these prominent figures attract conspiracy theories because they appear larger than life on the world's stage. It might be down to their appearance, their behaviour, or just their connection to another person, but in general they do attract rumours and intrigue.
Why on earth do you think some and I presume it is a lot of people, think the astronauts haven't left USA? There must be a reason for this opinion
OMG I DONT think that !!!! I was transfixed watching them come back and have felt sorry and worried for them getting caught up there I m saying that a lot of people are saying that If you ever read any comments on social media there are many that are saying it all happened in a film studio like the first moon landings
Another flipping conspiracy theory
Haven’t we got enough to worry about in real life without making it all up
I don’t understand what your thread is about
Do you believe the book ( which I haven’t read) ?
Life is hard enough without reading such rubbish.
Allsorts
Life is hard enough without reading such rubbish.
Yes but it’s fun to read what some people believe.
On the conspiracy theory front - an article in today's Daily Mail newspaper is an interview with Boris Johnson - in which he states that we knew/he knew very clearly that Covid was an escapee from that Chinese lab (ie not from that Chinese food market in the same city). But the reason we shut up about it was the Chinese fund some research in our country - and there was moral blackmail going on (ie we knew very well that funding would stop if we exposed their lie as to the Covid origin).
So - yep.....we're fully entitled to be absolutely livid with them that they (very directly) caused Covid to hit the rest of the world, ie besides themselves. Thanks to them and I doubt our own society will ever be the same again...with all the after-effects of Covid on the one hand and Lockdown on the other hand.
Diana and Harry were both subjected to emotional abuse and neglect in childhood. She was 19 at the time she was married. Charles was influenced by Mountbatten and his father to believe fidelity wasn’t expected. They were terribly ill matched and had to live the breakdown of the marriage in public view. Diana became anorexic and bulimic.
No wonder psychological problems run through the family. A bit of empathy doesn’t hurt anyone
Wouldn't believe much that Boris Johnson says.

I agree and to add to this Diana was much affected by her own parents marriage breakup.
In terms of Diana being murdered, along with her then partner, I simply do not believe it. Why? Who?
Had they worn their seat belts and their driver not been speeding and having had alcohol maybe they would be here today.

Organising those circumstances into a plan for murder would be too complicated even for Agatha Christie.
Diana’s connivance in her own death and her willingness to cause the potential death of another, is difficult to imagine.
On the other hand, I wonder why Mr Burrell avoided being in the car.

Diana became anorexic and bulimic.
But also an arch manipulator as well as paranoid which caused distress to so many other people.

I totally agree. Why is it more interesting to think someone else caused these tragic deaths and not so simple as just fastening seatbelts and following the rules of the road, even in France?
Maybe because it makes people realise how easy it is to get killed in these circumstances?
My first thought when I heard about the crash was that they would now make an icon out of Diana. She was a woman struggling with her past, present and possibly future relationships just like we do. My sympathies were always for those boys left motherless by such a silly mistake...

To accuse Diana of conniving in her own death really takes victim blaming to another level.
I do not believe Diana was murdered. She made a huge mistake in not wearing a seat belt, she wasn’t to know her driver was drunk.
The RF made a mistake in removing her protection
I agree completely Iam64. I am sure I am not the only one on here who has done quite a few stupid things in my life. People die in car crashes all the time, frequently through their own mistakes, it was just very sad.
Iam64
If you read carefully I said that it would be hard to imagine.
I wasn’t victim blaming, but if you like to think that, it’s your problem, not mine.

I thought she refused the protection as she thought it was Charles keeping track of her. I'm sure I read that at the time.
I don't think she was murdered unless you think the drunk who was driving was responsible but I suppose that would be manslaughter in England, no idea of how it would be viewed in France.
