Good morning all from a dull Black country.
Early start today I'm at playgroup once again, I think this may become a regular thing and I do enjoy it plus I get to spend time with my DiL.
Nothing else planned will see if DH wants to do anything when I get back.
Have a safe journey to your happy place fgt
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Good morning from a sunny midlands. Eye still sore with the conjunctivitis and not sure how long this will last. More eye drops. An easy day with some straight forward dog blanket knitting this afternoon.
Marydoll 🤗🤗
Hope everyone has the best day that they can have.

Good morning from sunny Suffolk where the forecast looks good all day.

Off to keep fit soon and then a trip for my annual check up at the dentist. I’ve signed up with a new practice which is much closer to home as my old dentist is retiring. I know my new one as she did some work in my old practice years ago so I feel confident all should be ok.

DH and little dog will probably join me for a walk on the beach and lunch in a cafe there.

Hope those on holiday and those about to go have a lovely time and those unwell or worried a good day.

Good morning from a dull northwest coast.
On the desk again at the music club yesterday but the numbers are still low. Our occasional violinist turned up and he always plays very well. I enjoyed opening my birthday presents in the morning, a lovely handbag from DD, chocolates, symphony concert voucher, necklace, flowers and quite a few cards. Very nice.

I’m off by train later to meet up with DS and DGD for a meal to continue my celebrations and it’s a while since I’ve seen her after university so I’m looking forward to that.

Bon voyage FGT and enjoy your trip Pantglas, I know Malta pretty well. Had friends there, sang in a classical concert there too. Fascinating island.
Thoughts to all🌺

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a lovely sunny but cold looking morning in North Yorkshire

I am with you Mick as have a tesco delivery coming today, which means having to stay here and the range is from 8-4 so hoping for an early delivery but who knows? I hate waiting for deliveries and very rarely send for anything that has to be delivered, but today is a specific thing. As I am still not to cart heavy things about, I have a shopping list from an unusual angle, so if they try to work out from my list what I use, good luck to them. They will think I am either a fanatic cleaner or perhaps an alcoholic, as I have based it all on weight. I find liquids seem to weigh a lot so it ranges from disinfectant and washing stuff to buying 6 bottles of wine, as it is a wine that I like and buying 6 you get quite a good discount. I am quite disciplined as far as that goes, and have always been used to having drinks in the house, but not needing to open it quickly.

So this means my first job this morning will be to go round the kitchen, making as much space as I can to put stuff away and clear the tops. Dont often have a delivery and for some reason it does not come from a local store at all so I rarely know the drivers. They vary, from one man who is very helpful to another young man who is quite impatient and always in a mad rush, so hope for the former today. Anyway am up showered and dressed and ready for whoever comes.

So fingers crossed that they come early and I can get out. Very glad to be back driving again. Was able to go to the games night at the local pub. These are not war games, or cards or monopoly, but adult games which are multi layered. So you can be trying to get cities or different types of land, then you have charactors to go with them and then also usually goods that you can amass. So besides working out what is the best way you can go, you also need to watch what other people are collecting etc and then block them or have pieces that are worth more. The main thing is I find it is pleasant with a mixed group of players, who are all very helpful to a beginner, and dont tut or sigh, if you are slow. It cuts both ways. I am gradually learning different games, and can play 2 or 3 at a reasonably competent rate and then I back out of the more complicated ones. Good to get out and about and leave worries and stress behind.

Tonight I shall be going to whist, and whilst I am now driving in the daytime, am going with another player, just taking it carefully about driving in the dark. But oh how cheering to think I can go up to Swaledale soon. So I am determined to enjoy what I can today, and will have radio 3 and 4 to take me through the day. I find the endless waffling about what the chancellor will or wont do irritating. As there is nothing I can do about it, and nor can the endless speakers asking this and that person what they think, why not just wait and find out!!

grandMattie, I am so glad you have got cleared and can get your new glasses, but dont know if you did it on purpose. Read all your posting and thought oh no you still havent said if you are cleared or not, and was thinking I will have to send you a message and ask, but then saw your next post!! So I am glad you had good news after a really exasperating day.
FGT Hope you got your flight and are now in a lovely sunny spain.

Well wishing everyone a good day and plans that work. Take care

Good morning Mick and everyone from dull, grey Carlisle.

Yesterday was a busy morning of necessary chores, after lunch I went for a walk in the park in pleasant sunshine. Quite a few folk had the same idea. One of the swan pairs seems to be nesting now, so maybe some fluffy little cygnets in a few weeks.

Today, I plan to go into town as there's an art exhibition at the museum. I don't think the artist is really my cup of tea but I like to get out of my comfort zone and maybe get a pleasant surprise. It will be interesting to see the results of the recent refurbishment of the building anyway.
In the afternoon I plan to do nothing but sit about and read. I have this book on how best to prolong my life in healthy ways...apparently it's never too late! Though I fear I'm already on a downward slope....from taking no pills at all last autumn, now I'm rattling with them!

Lovely to hear about your little tiddler RoseandLilac, you've been lucky to get a new and rewarding companion and she's getting an enjoyable new life in her older age.

Have the best possible day everyone especially if you're down for any reason.

BlueSapphire Wed 26-Mar-25 08:05:51

Good morning everyone from a very grey and cloudy Northampton, but sun is forecast later.

Yesterday stayed dry so was able to enjoy our group walk, 2.5 miles done, and 6,500 steps. I was ready for the welcoming coffee afterwards.

A morning of not doing very much, an early lunch, then the bus into town to the cinema. I am seeing the film 'Black Bag'. Shall probably have a mooch around the shops afterwards.

Home-made cottage pie from the freezer for dinner tonight. It's the last one of the batch, so shall have to make more soon.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from N. Bucks. Not sure what the weather is planning to do.
Had a good visit to my Sister in Law yesterday. She is doing well getting things sorted out since my brother died at the end of December although I know she is finding it hard. She is coming to stay for a few days next month.

DH has gone to golf and then has to take his mother to a doctors appointment so won’t be home till late afternoon.

I will do some more clearing of my craft room and a few other jobs.
This evening is our WI committee meeting. Luckily it’s an efficient group and we are usually sorted within an hour or so.

Wishing all a good day especially those with pain or troubles.

A very Happy Birthday for yesterday Hollysteers it sounds like you received some lovely presents, enjoy the ongoing celebrations today! 🎂🥂💐

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 7°C and cloudy.

That is good news, GM about your glasses and felices vacaciones, FGT.

Unfortunately, the long running saga of my mouth continues. Yesterday, DD on seeing how low I was, suggested meeting me at Silverburn after her appointment. This was indeed a surprise, as she has no patience with me trawling through rails of bargains.

Just as I was pulling out of the drive, there was a loud banging on my car, I got the fright of my life.
On looking to my left, I saw DH frantically waving the landline handset in his hand.
To my surprise, it was the surgery. My joy was shortlived. It was not my GP, but a pharmacy assistant, despite me asking to speak to my GP.😡
There is no alternative to the discontinued medication, so I will leave you a prescription for the one you have had previously.
I asked her if this was a joke, I needed to speak to my GP.🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 THIS MEDICATION DOES NOT WORK!!,
It took all my patience not to explode.
She then suggested I contact the surgery this morning Wednesday ( not yesterday) and ask for a GP appointment. I asked her if she was suggesting that I once again do battle at 8am, with the dragon receptionist, despite already having had four consultations with a GP.

It was at that point that I think she realised this suggestion had not gone down well with me.
I politely told her, I had no intention of doing so and I was insisting on speaking to a GP.
She eventually agreed to send my GP a message.
My relief was short lived, she informed me that he won't be in until tomorrow, Thursday. 🤬

I am of the opinion, that patients like me, are a just nuisance and a drain on the NHS and there is a hope and expectation that I will die soon. It would save tens of thousands of pounds. 😂
They have obviously underestimated me, I am not planning to leaving this world any time soon. 😉

Surprisingly, DD was extremely patient with me at Silverburn. She hates shopping, but it was she who suggested I look at the sales.
I think me bursting into tears yesterday shocked her! This was not the strong mum she was used to.
Georgesgran, I took your advice and treated myself more than once.!

Last night we had a PCC meeting about the options for the restoration of our church. It was a very emotional meeting. The costs have risen again. We may need to sell some land and demolish it. As I walked to my car and saw it lit up, I felt overwhelmed. It is iconic can be seen from most areas of the town and is used as a landmark, when giving directions.

This morning, I need to pick up my prescriptions, get them dispensed, get church safe keys cut and take a dress back to Sainsbury's (DH, as tactless as ever, says it makes my boobs look enormous! ) He, himself is the epitome of style and elegance in his sweatshirt and baggy gardening trousers.

Pants enjoy Malta. Malta and Gozo are among my favourite places in the world to visit we have many fond memories of our holidays there. Pity about the rain.

Have a good day folks and thank you all for you kindness and support.

Morning from a bright S Hants.
Patio jet washed yesterday by MrJ and my son, just needs a sweep, I’ll be out in the garden and greenhouse today, may get the hose out for my veg patch.
We had my brother and his wife here for dinner last night, I was pleased with the venison pie I made, it was a lovely evening.
A very happy belated birthday hollysteers 🎂🥂enjoy day two.

Good morning from a dry and sunny NE.
Yesterday was a quiet day, hairdresser left by 11 am so I spent time in the study filing paperwork.
Went to bed at 10.30 pm but the street was noisy with cars going up and down, noisy exhausts 🤨
I was putting the light out when sirens and blue lights came up the street, two police cars and a van, lots of police shouting.
I am so sick of this, happens regularly and always the same property.
Sister and BIL are visiting this afternoon and will take me shopping..
Happy holidays to those away and a pleasant day to all.

grandMattie Wed 26-Mar-25 08:31:26

madeleine, no I didn’t do it on purpose. I completely forgot!
I have been waiting for so very long since my cataract surgery, 11 weeks now, to be allowed to go to the opticians and had almost given up…

RosieandherMaw Wed 26-Mar-25 08:32:09

Lovely sunny morning here in N Bucks just down the road from BlueSapphire and Ginny and 16C forecast.
Perhaps Spring really is here. Safe travels to all out and about.
Have a lovely week in Spain FGT after your bit of a cliffhanger.
“Opera Plus” this morning, we’re looking at Peter Grimes which will be enlightening as I know little about Britten’s operas.
I suppose I should take advantage of the lovely weather and do some more washing or gardening - or I may have a coffee and catch up at our local garden centre.
Wishing you all a pleasant day

GrannySomerset Wed 26-Mar-25 08:34:49

Coffee with friends this morning and singing this afternoon so a nice day ahead. Yesterday was hard work but our large loft is now empty apart from foil lining the roof and new insulation so I hope the house will be cooler in hot weather, warmer in cold, and that the gas bill will be under control next winter.

Hope the travellers all have a restorative time away even if the weather is less than kind and that there are no airport dramas.

Good morning from cool dull Co Armagh
No Wednesday Club this morning , the hall is needed for another group , I feel a bit put out !
I managed to sit outside for a while , I was reading and got lost in the book ! Realised the sun wasn’t as warm as I thought and scuttled indoors to warm up
Porridge has pinged !
Hoping for a good day for all x

Good morning from a lovely sunny Essex coast.

I arrived home at lunchtime yesterday from DD2's after a lovely weekend .

I have masses of admin for the Yacht club to do today, it all mounts up as no one else would have a clue.

DH is going to London to meet up with an old work friend, have lunch and put the world to rights.

I hope you all have a pleasant day and can enjoy the sun xx

TheWeirdoAgain1 Wed 26-Mar-25 09:13:06

Good morning, Michael12 and everyone!

According to my mobile it's 14d today here in Appleby although I don't know if that's true or not as the mobile and laptop both say different things!

Well, if that's not a surprise I don't know what is!

My microwave snuffed it a couple of days ago, I'd had it for donkeys years and it served me very well so today I was going off to Argos for a Morphy Richards but last night as I finished work at 6pm I was just trotting off to my car and a friend eyeballed me. She had no idea my microwave had conked it and she told me she has a fully working microwave that she's had a couple of years but has only used it twice so would I like it, completely free?

It's now in my kitchen, so that saved me £70.00!

Taichinan Wed 26-Mar-25 09:14:10

Good morning all. According to my weather app it is wall to wall sunshine here today. Unfortunately a thin layer of cloud didn't get the memo ......
Yesterday was a glorious day though and I had to take my jacket off as I walked through the town. Short sleeves in March?!!
Tai chi was pleasant but unremarkable, and then as I left I bumped into a friend and we went for a coffee and sticky buns. I was therefore well-fortified for my foray into Tesco. I'm really not interested in food these days which makes shopping for it difficult!
Lovely to read of everyone's comings and goings on here. And achievements! That was a magnificent amount to raise from the sale of your marmalade last year grandmattie! You must feel a lovely sense of achievement. Well done about your eyes too.
I love reading about your little Tiddler, Rosesandlilac - what a lovely addition to your family she is.
Glad your passports arrived at last FGT and you are winging your way to your sunny happy place as I write.
I have nothing particular planned for today, although my To Do List says otherwise 😉. Enjoy your day everyone ☀️

Grandmabatty Wed 26-Mar-25 09:41:11

Breakfast at the nursery with dgs2 was adorable. He hung up his bag and jacket and went looking for his vest friend, a sweet wee girl with huge blue eyes and curly hair. Then we went for breakfast. Pancakes and fruit was the decision. Dgs2 spread her pancake for her then spread his own. He passed the dishes down the table, said please and thank you unprompted and fed her bits of strawberry and blueberries. They are joined at the hip! It was all very sweet and a lovely experience.

Stilllearning Wed 26-Mar-25 09:50:06

Morning from East Ren, not long back from mass in DGD’s school which is said before school in Lent. Twenty or thirty pupils, some parents and teachers in a lovely oratory. Pupils doing the readings and one serving as a Eucharistic minister.
The way out was through the main building weaving our way through hundreds of teenagers chatting and laughing noisily until a bell rang and immediately silence fell. I was most impressed! It was a good start to the day, I felt very lucky to experience the great cheerful atmosphere, I hope lots of youngsters are having that school experience.

Wishing all those with health struggles the best day possible and holiday makers a good break.
