Meghan’s April Fool?

From The Tines this morning
Imagine if I told you I was giving you something “in keepsake packaging that you can repurpose to tuck away love notes or special treasures, and to remember this pivotal moment with me”. You would look at me strangely and ask if I should perhaps seek specialist medical help, and you would be right. And if I then told you that this keepsake packaging could be used as a “small bud vase for flowers on your nightstand or to hold pens on your desk”, could you guess what it was ?
A vintage piece of pretty china, say? Big reveal: it's a jam jar^

Whouda thunk?
Using an old jam jar for pencils? (Who uses pencils?)
Personally I put mine through the dishwasher and re use them for the next batch of raspberry jam -sorry, spread

I am actually wondering who is having the last laugh here?

eazybee Thu 03-Apr-25 08:42:25

Meghan will be laughing all the way to the bank. Her honey, £21 a jar, has all sold out. One more reason to ignore american goods.

How does she manage to cause such distress to many

"Her Honey £21 a jar has sold out"

It's a marketing ploy, I remember having a conversation years ago with my then 8 year old about some "precious rare Pokemon card" It's only rare because the manufacturers print so few, they could flood the market tomorrow and then it wouldn't be so precious. Create a few of anything, hype it up, and hey presto it's sold out. Mass appeal though hmm when most have an eye to rising food costs. Can't think her thimbles full of honey jam and the beyond frivolous, flowers are going to be hitting the shelves of Walmart anytime soon.

Apparently everything is 'sold out', but there's a lot of speculation that it's simply another PR stunt.

NotSpaghetti Thu 03-Apr-25 10:00:52

I think her honey is expensive partly because of the wasteful way it's harvested.
Why not do what most beekeepers do and invest in (or borrow) a centrifuge?

She is wasting hours of both "bee work" in recreating the cells - and honey!

It's a bit like only selling cut comb honey.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 03-Apr-25 10:02:28

Not just the honey which is sold out so is one of her jams, sorry cannot remember if it was the strawberry or raspberry one.

Wow! So much venom directed towards Megan.
Some people believe everything they read in the tabloids? Surely not!
Just as Diana was touted as a saint, Megan is portrayed as the
anti Christ, neither of which is probably correct.
Diana, for all you fervent royalists out there, would probably be turning in her grave on hearing all the bile directed at her beloved son & his young family. 🤔

uses for jam jars:-
home made marmalade
bottling excess garden produce - tomatoes etc
storing seeds safe from mice
keeping nails/screws and easy to see which is which
soaking paint brushes
biro and pencil holder
bud vase - not so much - in fact not ever.
Bonne Maman rule

Esmay Thu 03-Apr-25 11:33:04

For £10.80 you could buy an attractive container .
Found some Bonne Maman jam today - nothing beats the taste and the jar is very pretty .

Does Meghan not realise that people have been using empty jam jars for other purposes for a very long time. My dad used to soak paint brushes in jam jars. I used a jam jar for paper clips when I was working. My sister stored cotton wool balls in one.

My aunt told me she kept her "nylons" in a jam jar, when they first came out and were dear.

If that's genuinely supposed to be an April Fool it's missed the mark as far as I'm concerned cos I don't get it.

twiglet77 Thu 03-Apr-25 12:45:03

I’ve just rinsed the pretty fluted jar from my Morrison’s “The Best” Seville orange and ginger marmalade. Later in the summer I will fill it with home made jam.

Love notes? Seriously?

twiglet77 Thu 03-Apr-25 12:48:05

As a child I repurposed jam jars to hold sticklebacks caught at the brook with a net, or caterpillars, snails (or perhaps they went in a biscuit tin), and occasionally petals to make perfume for my mother!

Oh yes, that smelly 'perfume' made from rose petals 😁

Diana would have turned in her grave to know her silly younger son had aligned himself with a grade b Californian Hustler.

Kathmaggie Thu 03-Apr-25 13:38:59

Tadpoles!

Wow Boz, where do you get all of your insider info from?
Oh, don't tell me, I can probably guess.!
Don't believe everything you read, most newspapers have their own agenda. 😒

Anniebach Thu 03-Apr-25 14:18:11

Diana aligned. herself with Dodi Fayed

Allira Thu 03-Apr-25 14:18:43

There are lots of people who seem to know what Diana would have thought, Ilovedogs.
They must all be spirit mediums!

25Avalon Thu 03-Apr-25 14:32:24

Yes you used to tie string round the top of the jar if it had a rim and make a long handle to carry tadpoles etc in.

Our church used to collect clean empty jam jars to put nightlights in to line the road for the nativity procession at Christmas. You could of course have one on your nightstand.

Too many people read the Daily Mail etc.
Then they believe it’s true .
Daily Mail makes money off these garbage articles .

Anniebach Thu 03-Apr-25 15:03:43

I don’t read Daily Mail,

I'm not interested in Meghan these days. Meghan will do what Meghan is going to do.

But, as lots of you are talking about Bonne Maman, I've just washed out an apricot jar here in France, and I noticed that the French version is called Intense.
That's a good name because it suggests flavour, colour and desire! Eat your heart out, As Ever.
