Such a disappointment

Had to sort through my two bouquets that I received for Mothers Day and throw half of them away. I do love fresh flowers but hate my sons wasting their money. I always tell them to try and get chrysanths or carnations that will last a while. All the roses I threw away were from M & S who I've had to complain to before. 😠

The most long lasting flowers seem to be carnations/pinks and alstroemerias and dahlias.

These are the last three roses from my Marks and Spencer Mothering Sunday flowers. The bouquet was stunning.

Popped into Tesco, Aylsham the Friday before Christmas to get flowers for a friends birthday. All seemed to have brown decaying bits. But had a guarantee to last several days!
Was trying to find something not withering for ages. Finally had to buy an odd looking Christmas colours arrangement with a succulent on a stick! Odd choice

I love Carnations but you can never buy a bunch of them, Pinks yes but not Carnations, they come sometimes in a mixed bunch.

My husband bought two dozen (white) long stemmed carnations for his mother. They were beautiful and fragrant too. They came from our excellent local florist. Ordered them the week before and collected them on the day.

I saw them on Wednesday - they were still really tall and still looked great.

I love flowers but was disappointed so many times with poor
Bouquets which I knew had cost a lot of money, so before birthday, Mother’s Day, I sent a message to my children….Would you mind me asking you not to send me flowers this year as I have fallen in love with orchids in pots. One I had as a Christmas present is now beginning to fade and I would love to have one to take its place, thank you, love Mum
Luckily this totally met with my children’s approval and I now have two beautiful orchids by my window which I can admire every day also saving my children money.
