A boring day thread

There seems to be a need for it!

Post here what you are doing, if your day is boring.

I, and some others, will still find it interesting.

Thanks for starting the thread and pleased it amuses - just wanted to re-state from an earlier thread that it’s a light hearted antidote to anyone suffering, if only occasionally, from GM thread envy!
Meanwhile, I’m considering chopping back a rosemary plant which has seen better days but will probably put the kettle on instead and watch another episode of MAFSUK….

I do need to acknowledge that it was inded Kate54's original idea to start the thread.

Just hiked 110 kilometres of the Lycian way on the coast of Turkey. Out of a group of 14, 3 of us were 70+. We climbed mountains and hiked through ancient forest, explored ruined cities and ate our own body weight in cheese and olives. Now relaxing in a coastal hotel with hot tub on the decking. Shame it’s raining. I refuse to give in to being old !

A cup of tea and a biscuit in bed while I read a few pages of current book. Popped out for the paper.
Had breakfast then trimmed one of my hedges a bit.
Saw women's football match on TV...popped along to the surgery for my Covid jab at half time!
Had lunch, then food shopping, then knitting watching The Chase.
Had dinner, will be online for a bit then some TV.

I'm alone, often for weeks at a time before I meet up with anyone. But like my own company, my routine and independence and relish it all.

In keeping with the spirit of the thread, I’ll declare yesterday a pretty darn boring day. I walked a couple of miles to the nearest Asda to look for some shoes I fancy. Realised that the store had no clothes section, so caught a bus home empty handed. Spent much of the afternoon hovering behind our new robot vacuum cleaner, ready to leap to her rescue when she got stuck under low furniture. Updated my financial spreadsheet and did a bit of jigsawing accompanied by Corrie and Gogglebox. I know how to live! smile

A quiet day that involved not going out but potting up in the garden, a bit of hanging out the washing, sweeping the step of leaves that blow in, tidying a cupboard. Not exciting but that’s my day today.

I’d hardly call this boring!

No problem fancythat! Hot tubs in Turkey? Wrong thread!

Dogmum2 Sat 12-Apr-25 20:26:00

Well, i did 2 loads of laundry. Dragged random bits out of my wardrobe and threw 3 items away (hurrah).

Lasagna for tea as i decided today is my 'eat what i fancy and hang the cholesterol' day. Lots of salad - offsetting i call it smile I have one of these days a week.

Was supposed to be catching up on housework.....but didn't. Was going to finish my book....but didn't.

Now settled down ready for Casualty later.

Rock and roll everyone x

Sorry, but I think you're on the wrong thread, MissChateline 😁

Spent the day waiting for my son and family to arrive at my partners because he didn’t tell me they were stopping off at someone else’s house on the way up and wouldn’t be here till nighttime. At least he did message me a couple of hours ago or I would have been seriously panicking. At least, being away from my own home means I don’t have to wake up thinking ok what maintenance do I have to do on the house today….

I hate to state the obvious, but for a lot of people it’s not about ‘giving in’ to old age, more about being healthy enough to do these things in the first place!

Best wishes for the rest of your trip.

Well said, Bobbysgirl

I'd be pleased if I could walk round the garden at the moment, let along a 110km hike.

It's not a case of giving in, it's a case of what you can manage to do. Old age doesn't come alone.

I don’t think you’ve got the hang of this thread yet😁

Am pleased to say that I thought about doing nothing much today and achieved my objective with flying colours.
Tomorrow I will attempt a to-do list.

I’ve had my least boring day in weeks. Im recovering from the dreaded Covid and went with friends who are temporarily living with me, to Coleton Fishacre, a NT arts & crafts property near Kingswear. An amazing home set in wonderful gardens. So good to get out again after feeling so awful for so long. Returned home and have done absolutely nothing apart from lounge on the sofa watching Grace on the telly. End to a perfect day. 📺

Cabbie21 Sat 12-Apr-25 22:34:27

I had nothing planned for today, but following old habits, I did various household chores this morning, then spent a while on my tablet browsing and playing Solitaire and Scrabble.

Smintie Sat 12-Apr-25 22:37:37

Got up, stripped the bed, put the washing on, changed the cat litter and ran the hoover round. Made a coffee.

Did the crosswords on the Telegraph website. Made another coffee.

Spent an hour on the family tree, then drove into town and wandered around Waterstones, bought two books. Popped into Waitrose and got some groceries, came home and listened to the radio.

Had some supper (quiche and salad), watched the tv, got to the 5% question on the 1% club (never normally happens).

Looked at this website and answered this question.

Trying to keep myself busy and active throughout the day, so when I am alone at night, I can think that the day wasn’t totally wasted.

Widowed isn’t great but I’m faking it until I make it.

Thank you for reminding me about online jigsaws, Grannygravy. I’d forgotten about them but now I can fritter away more time doing them instead of more exciting tasks such as folding laundry.

I did quite well tonight but didn't get the 10 Downing Street one - duh!

I did half a row of crochet.

I liked that question, but I can’t crochet. Perhaps I can procrastinate about learning tomorrow? 😊

Online jigsaws?! They sound excellent. Hope they’re easy to find as they sound ideal for tomorrow.

Lots of videos online, that's how I learnt, Smintie
Bella Coco is easy to follow.

Who knows, you could crochet your very own Lee Mack!

I don’t get bored that often because I like to read and do handcrafts and we have an overly large garden which needs a lot of work ( too much these days ). There are certain people I can ring and yack to if need be,too. Only one of our 4 girls will talk at length, the others are always busy so I only ring them when I have something to tell them, not just for a chat. We have cats and they are lovely, always jumping on my knee and purring, makes me feel happy. If I feel really bored I get in the car and drive to Costco - that makes me want to escape back to my house and have a coffee. I’m going off that, though, too American for my liking.

MissChateline Sun 13-Apr-25 04:04:56

I’m really sorry if people took my post the wrong way. I guess what I was trying to say is that life doesn’t have to be boring and for those of us who are fortunate enough to be able to get out and do things there’s so much we can do.
I am lucky that I have a younger partner who motivates me to get out and do things which I probably wouldn’t do if I were alone and some healthy competition as to who can walk the furthest and get to the top first!
I’m also very lucky that I’ve never been ill apart from the occasional cold in my life but I have always made maintaining exercise and a healthy lifestyle a priority.
So I apologise if my post was misunderstood
