A boring day thread

There seems to be a need for it!

Post here what you are doing, if your day is boring.

I, and some others, will still find it interesting.

I’m going to the allotment so not boring because I meet up with other hard working idiots who reckon it’s good for our physical and mental well being.

My post Covid jab sore arm is telling me a large mug of tea, big plate of toast and marmite and staying in bed would be far more beneficial. 😂

I've got meetings for the small charity I'm a trustee for. A fund raising meeting first then the usual monthly one. That'll be at least three hours in a stuffy windowless room with fluorescent lighting. I'll end up with a headache and high blood pressure after that and the inevitable arguments. It's worth it though. It's a really good charity. However, tomorrow looks satisfyingly boring. Nice to have something to look forward to.

Kate54 It entertains me to imagine you smashing your glass lampshade with your stubborn blind and so discipling them both in one go.

Caleo Tue 15-Apr-25 11:00:18

Living a boring life must be good for lowering the blood pressure.

Merlotgran, there is a lot of the Protestant work ethic around.

I had an exciting time folding all the washing. Then made some really yummy curried kumara soup. Then stacked ( threw in a heap) the firewood ahead of the approaching cyclone!

My days are all quite boring, I can`t go out unless someone takes me, so rarely leave the house. My daughter brought round an application form for Attendance Allowance, I`ve started to fill it in, but there are 30 odd pages, so I`m doing it in stages.
Haven`t a clue what to have to eat today, the freezer is fairly amply stocked, but don`t feel like cooking just for me. There is a frozen ready meal shepherds pie, may have that, I`m a lazy mare, lol!

Ask at your health centre whether they employ a social Prescriber. Ours did and she came out and helped me fill in the AA form for my husband. All done in about 1.5 hrs.

Failing that Citizens Advice will help.

I don’t think I ever have a boring day, all I know is they disappear in a flash.

Got up, made tea. Got husband up and we had tea and toast together. Did his meds, gave him a strip wash and toileted him. Had a wash and got dressed.

Went to surgery to collect prescription. Called at shop and bought bread rolls and parsley sauce mix.

Came home and sorted out bathroom. Moved out all but essentials as we are having bath taken out tomorrow and shower cubicle installed tomorrow.

Made egg and cress rolls for lunch. Physios visited husband and I watched exercises and asked questions. Hubby has now gone to bed for his afternoon sleep.

Shortly going to make fish pie for tea.

I think the point is although many of us aren't bored our days are quite boring to everyone else primrose

Cabbie21 Tue 15-Apr-25 17:21:21

A totally non-boring day. I have just got home from a day out with a friend. The first time I have done that for at least two years ( occasional coffee /lunch, regular choirs, relatives, but not a day out with a friend).

Wrong thread!

The usual cleaning, I went out to do a small shop in the next town, and stpp3d at the coffee shop, partner went out on the train to buy bun and cheese for Easter.
Came home and transplanted some bushes before the rain came down. Cup of tea, Gransnet and kindle, partner is cooking tonight.

Anniebach, I've no idea why your message jumped out at me from all the others but it did. Thus, I'm writing to say, "Hello".

My days have become very similar in recent years but two days ago we spotted a red squirrel on the fence. It peeped over, then jumped onto the top of the strawberry tower, down to a planter and then over the yard to another. It stood on tippy-toes to look into that planter and then scampered halfway up the side of the shed, changed it's mind and went off in the direction of the next house. Cheered my day no end. It also reminded me of the Tufty Club when I was little. At that time I hadn't seen a red squirrel in real life but I still had my Tufty Club badge.

I joined a knit and natter group this year. I don't always manage to get there and sometimes it is too noisy for me. I don't berate myself if I'm not up to it but I think the change does me good when I do get there.

I hope you find something that will add a little change each week (if not every day). Sometimes the smallest of things makes a day just that little bit different. Very best wishes.

I think the one thing that has suprised me the most about GNetters, is that they cook a whole lot better than me.

I imagined that when people got older, they were all on tea and toast!

Far from it!

It’s garden refuse bin collection day tomorrow so I have a dead conifer at the back of my shed to deal with. It’s a waste of a rather nice pot so I must chop it up and get rid.
Then I must phone the scrap man and ask him to collect the broken metal garden trolley I put out for him last week and he drove straight past! 😡

I’m feeling in a ‘get things done’ mood today.

Something’s wrong! 😂

Taichinan Wed 16-Apr-25 10:00:09

I lead a boring-ish life and usually manage to enjoy it nevertheless, but today is grey, damp and freezing cold and it just feels boring. But hey ho, I too have the bins to sort - indoor bins out to outdoor bins and one of them to the gate for emptying tomorrow morning. The last of the Mother's Day flowers must go, and I should take a load of glass waste down to one of the bins in town. After that I think losing myself in a good book should be the order of the day. Yawn.

Going to the bottle bank is exciting!!

Firstly, I let them accumulate in the shed for far too long until the refuse bag starts to topple over.
Then I have to smuggle them into the boot of my car without too much clunking or the neighbour’s net curtains across the road will start twitching.
Then I cheer if I have chosen a day just after the collection bin has been emptied. It’s so therapeutic to hear the sound of glass smashing on metal. 😂

I used to love pushing bottles into the bottle bank!

I Love the Sound of Breaking Glass 🎵🎶🎵🎶

Unless I have to clear it up.

Its too cold and windy to work outside, although the sun is shining.
Might do some ironing.
Might wash the bathroom floor.
The apple blossom is so beautiful.

Caleo Wed 16-Apr-25 10:46:42

AIBU?

Should I have fried the pancake?

Caleo Wed 16-Apr-25 10:57:25

Was my dream a happy omen?

My son and I were in Safeway's car park. I spied a bright green and blue lost parrot, and I picked him up and put him on my shoulder. I knew his kisses were affectionate but was slightly nervous of his beak.
Inside the vast shop I separated from my son to interminably seek the member of Safeway's staff who deals with lost animals.

Allira Wed 16-Apr-25 10:58:07

I might push the boat out and have a clear out of clothes.

But have a ☕ while I think about it.

Allira Wed 16-Apr-25 10:59:52

Caleo 😁😁😁

Could he talk? "Who's a pretty boy then?"
