There seems to be a need for it!

Post here what you are doing, if your day is boring.

I, and some others, will still find it interesting.

Took the dog for a run down by the river, then collected flea, tick and worm meds from the vet.
Finished a book, then hung clothes up.
Shall I start a book or a jigsaw or both?
Walked the dog again. Mondays used to be more exciting.

Treatment is I think hit and miss can work for some - trying as need relief but can take weeks to do something. Eating makes a bad situation worse but ended up in hospital when gave in to eating and drinking too little, thats equally unpleasant! Its one of those syndromes so basically not enough research done as it doesn't directly kill you…having it does it slowly. Thanks for welcome.

.

Weekly deep clean of bathrooms and cloakroom took up my morning. What a joy!!

Flatbreads and Sweet Chilli Hummus for lunch whist watching the second episode of 'Your Friends and Neighbours' (highly recommended, it's fabulous. The writing is great and John Hamm at his best since 'Mad Men'). Funny too.

Then an hour on the telephone trying to find a chemist that sold Cassia Oil for my Easter Biscuits. Nothing. Many knew why I wanted it but didn't understand why they no longer stocked it.

Googled and found somewhere just ten minutes away whose website stated they stocked it. Zoomed off. Closed on Mondays. Grrr. I know - I should have phoned first - but it was so near!

Will try again tomorrow but will definitely call beforehand to check availability.

Not doing anything else today apart from our 'Meagre Monday' supper (after indulgent weekend with family ad Grandkids), Corrie and an episode of 'Bosch Legacy" before showering and watching an hour on my ipad (probably 'Law&OrderSVU', Netflix). Hubby will watch an hour of some GuyRichie-type men's thing before coming up and joining me!!

Shopping and hairdresser tomorrow.

Oh what a exciting life we (don't) live!! But it suits us. I think!

Covid jab this morning. Sore arm this evening.

Such larks!

Washing dried on the line in the sun and wind - marvellous.

In between hanging it out and getting it in I spent an hour or so taking the self-seeded love-in-a-mist seedlings out of my large area of gravel and transplanting them into a tray of compost. 2 square yards done, another 20 or so to go. Thank goodness for thick kneelers!

I think a daily routine important and in 2 lovely Women’s groups plus several music groups , line dance and run a small film group plus knitting group . I only watch a bit of tv in the evenings and have a lovely family who I don’t see daily as live at a distance so lucky I am .

JoyBloggs Mon 14-Apr-25 19:22:32

Just finished cleaning what seemed like about 27 miles of grubby grout with a toothbrush.
My morning was very pleasant but details of that would not be appropriate on this thread... grin

Boolya Mon 14-Apr-25 19:28:04

Voluntary work this morning. Blood test this afternoon.

Ilovedogs22 Mon 14-Apr-25 19:28:24

We took the hairy monster to the groomers today. Had a look round the charity shops but everything was expensive and well worn. Went home as almost all cafes were closed at 3.30pm! DD and GD arrived for a surprise stay. She promised to make up the beds to save me doing it but no sign of that yet at 8.45pm. Going upstairs to make a start in a minute. Usually I have it all done the day before.

Hung the washing out this morning- lovely sunny day, dog to the vets this afternoon for booster highlight of the day M n S lasagne while watching Daniel Craig in Casino Royale on ITV 4 right now!

CanadianGran Mon 14-Apr-25 20:49:06

Lixy, what are the benefits of Love-in-a-mist in your garden? I haven't planted it before.

lixy Mon 14-Apr-25 21:28:47

CanadianGran I grow a dark blue shade of Nigella (love in a mist) it has bright green ferny foliage and looks after itself. The seed heads are interesting too.
The downside is that it is very good at self-seeding hence the tedious weeding out of seedlings from the gravel.
Highlight of my day is a pot full of weeds from the gravel!

Went to Tesco, then made a snack lunch for my husband and I, 2 sons in law, 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren. Then visited Dad in his nursing home, had a telephone call with his cardiologist before bringing Dad back to our lovely, rambunctious house. Made him a cup of tea then left him to the tender mercies of everyone, except for our little grandson who wanted me to watch him hose down my car in the rain. When one of the arms of the family left, I took Dad back to the nursing home, came back and cooked dinner for four, then went for a 30 minute walk with our younger son in law. A busy day - but if you knew what the previous 2 days were like, you'd see that they were equally busy. And I'm absolutely grateful to God, because after over 4 years of Long Covid, I'm almost back to normal. Just get the occasional crash to remind me never again to take my health for granted.

Thanks for the online jigsaw link! Saving it for tomorrow as today was busily annoying rather than boring - having been pleased with myself for mending a Roman blind ( which turned out not to be mended at all) I smashed a glass lampshade with it.

Aldom Mon 14-Apr-25 22:23:26

Kate54 Oh dear!!!

Mollygo Mon 14-Apr-25 23:08:14

Hope you’ll feel better soon.

I read the thread title, and immediately thought of this poem by the wonderful Brian Bilston. Very apt at the moment!

Serenity Prayer

Send me a slow news day,
a quiet, subdued day,
in which nothing much happens of note,
just the passing of time,
the consumption of wine,
and a re-run of Murder, She Wrote.

Grant me a no news day,
a spare-me-your-views day,
in which nothing much happens at all –
a few hours together,
some regional weather,
a day we can barely recall.

Very pleased with the results of putting my very mouldy bath mat in the washing machine with two towels, white vinegar, ordinary detergent and a delicate wash. YouTube tip.

I was going to throw it out!

I have a son with learning difficulties who lives with me. Helping him, and taking him to places he needs to go keeps me busy some days. As a result, I like some boring days when I don’t have to go anywhere or see anybody.
Today, after I dropped him off at a work placement, I went to an appointment at the bank, went for coffee and a sandwich, then did some shopping before I picked him up. Tomorrow will be a lovely boring day, though I need to find someone to fix the mechanism of a sofa bed, of which one side has become ‘ unhinged ‘.

fancythat Tue 15-Apr-25 06:45:01

I am loving all these posts. Thank you.

I have got paperwork to do today. Again.
My memory is not great, and I write a lot more things down than most people.
Then I need to go through it so I havent missed things.

loopyloo Tue 15-Apr-25 07:20:06

The serenity prayer is brilliant.
Many thanks.
DD coming home here to sleep as she's on night duty.
DS and DDL coming over to go to carvery. We must be quiet!!
It's rained!! The large waterbutt is full again.

Taichinan Tue 15-Apr-25 08:13:39

Yes, that Serenity Prayer is perfect.
I have slow news - I'm going to tai chi.
And no news - I'm doing a Tesco shop on my way home.
After that it's a who knows day ☺️
