While out in town today I had a brief sit down along with various other shoppers of all ages and races. An elderly man dropped a coin under the bench and a young African man leapt into action, ,crawling under the seat to retrieve it for him, then smiled broadly at us all and wished everyone a happy day before heading off. It really lifted my spirits.

I can see my Gladioli coming up very nicely .
I've put them in various area around the garden ,but the last area had brambles and clearing them has given me knee pain .
It kept me awake at night .
Seeing them in flower will be my reward .

Went to a nearby museum. Interesting exhibits and lots of good paintings, and well tended grounds. The coffee was dreadful. Brown hot water.

Managed to walk over 5 miles at a National Trust property. Enjoyed every minute! The bluebells were stunning. I’m so thankful I’m able to do it.

This evening our house buyers came round to look around again, in light of the survey report (our house is Listed and they are taking the responsibility for caring for such a house very seriously). They are a lovely young couple and we had an enjoyable two hours talking about the house, filling in their sketchy knowledge of its history. It is nice to know that we are passing on our home on to such safe hands

That’s lovely M0nica. Moving house is stressful, so something like that is good to hear.

Enjoyed exchanging victory party memories with others who had similar memories. I was 4 1/2 but recall it clearly.
Also enjoyed hearing about Pope Leo’s election. Good news.

Thanks nanaK.

Madmeg How fantastic. Are you parting or quietly contemplating everything with relief?

Such good news nanak. A pleasure to read.

My own pleasure has been doing exactly what I wanted on my birthday. Does that sound selfish? It probably is. Historically I brushed the day aside, resisting any encouragement to celebrate. This year it changed. Mr C and I have had the day I asked for. A visit to Longleat, a long while just looking quietly at the animals going about their daily routine, chatting to guides, stopping for a cuppa and sometimes cake whenever I felt exhaustion creeping on. It was a wonderful day which has filled us both with pleasure and left me thinking how foolish I was not to voice my wishes before.

Many Apologies. The first comment was for madmeg. I need to learn to to proof read!

Walking back from the shop.
Passion fruit flavour. Though I didn't notice that.
Never had them before.

I had a wonderful day yesterday at the care home where I volunteer. The place was a sea of union jacks and great music blasting out. People were in the beautiful garden and a class of nursery children came to visit and chat. Smiles all round. A fabulous tea party followed.
I loved hearing the war time stories from people who were actually there. A terrific day all round and I drifted off to sleep with my mind filled with bright memories of the day.

My DH has set up a small waterfall in our little pond and it's become very popular to our delight. We've already had visitors eg a crow [which surprised me because of it's size but seemed delighted with the opportunity for a good wash] and several small birds also are enjoying a bath and sprucing their feathers. DH also put in 13 [!!!!!] frogs of various sizes we found in a puddle in the garden which also seemed to have found themselves happily at home. The birds thankfully [well at least so far] have not tried to catch the frogs preferring to preen themselves! Nature is wonderful - and it makes me feel good too!

Mollygo Fri 09-May-25 12:35:51

Long sunny/shady walk through woods and fields, edged by a river, much to the delight of our dog, who would now like to sit on me to dry off!

Mr RLW has bought me my very first denim jacket! I've hankered after one since I was a teenager. I'm not too old at 3 days off my three score years and ten, am I?
