While out in town today I had a brief sit down along with various other shoppers of all ages and races. An elderly man dropped a coin under the bench and a young African man leapt into action, ,crawling under the seat to retrieve it for him, then smiled broadly at us all and wished everyone a happy day before heading off. It really lifted my spirits.

My border collie squeaking with delight to see me after I had been out for at least ten minutes!

I had bought 6 raffle tickets just before easter to support a local food bank and community centre, I bought six tickets, and today I picked up three raffle prizes. One was a hamper of toys that come Christmas will either help out with some of the grandchildren's Christmas or what is not suitable will go to a local Christmas Charity.

It's my 16th birthday (61st really I reverse numbers now lol) but may aswell be my 16th, as I've been thoroughly spoilt by my husband and my 2 very thoughtful Sons - what a pleasure xx

I was woken up by a falcon nesting outside my bedroom window. Later I heard a fledgling tweeting.

I picked my first Lily of the valley, now the scent is pervading the kitchen while I am doing watercolours of bees.

Going to Cartier exhibition with DD, followed by an early lunch.

I went to make an appointment at the opticians and the receptionist said she hopes she looks as good as when she reaches my age!!
Made my day!!

Charleygirl5

I have a clean house, bedding changed and washed and my garden weeded. I have to admit I oversaw it all!

I had to read this twice Charleygirlcl5
Lucky you.😉

I rushed through my chores then put my feet up to knit and watch several TV shows I'd recorded. Also went out in the sunshine and spent time pulling up weeds. A perfect morning.

The beauty of trees with their new leaves and especially my apple tree in blossom, and petals and branch shadows on the grass.

Feeding the birds in my garden & watching the Starlings rushing down & back off to where they are nesting in the trees at the bottom of my garden. Then listening to the very tiny squeaks from the nesting birds in my bushes. As there are Sparrows, Blue Tits, Great Tits, Robins & Wrens all nesting in the long line of bushes so whose babies I will not know until they fledge. So many last year it was worth the money I spend on bird food for them. Then the local flock of pigeons that my neighbour & I feed down for their food. So much pleasure in just that hour or so will keep me happy for the day!

Just a day of completing smallish jobs as I have a dodgy back at the moment. Lots of little rests but a sense of achievement nevertheless.
The weather is glorious and warm, which is a rare occurrence for the north-east cost of Scotland. We do do glorious, but not often accompanied by warm 😉

bridie54 Wed 30-Apr-25 14:33:12

Out in the rare scottish sunshine for 2 hours this morning at the community garden ( I volunteer) planting out cabbage, watering carrot sowings, and generally weeding. All in great company accompanied by birdsong, and a ginger cookie with our cuppa. What's not to like?
Will rest now after lunch with my crocheting and the radio.

A note through my door from a neighbour saying she knows someone who might be able to do a bit of gardening for us as my husband is very ill and can no longer keep his once lovely garden in shape.

bridie54 Wed 30-Apr-25 14:35:59

Taichinan, we are in the same area I believe and I saw your post after I'd posted. Enjoy the sunshine while we can.

Just had a Mini Milk ice lolly. Reminded me of my lovely childhood.

Chaitriona Wed 30-Apr-25 14:58:02

I got through to my GP appointment line in a few minutes.
I was given an appointment in an hours time.
I was a little late due to traffic issues but didn't miss my slot or have to wait to be seen.
The doctor I saw didn't think my situation was critical or that I needed to go to hospital
My husband drove me there and back and changed my bed and I like the feel of clean sheets
I have been able to sleep a little.
It is a sunny day and there are beautiful plants and trees outside my window and I can hear birds.
So thank you for this post on a day when I am very ill and there does not seem to be much that can be done for me medically.

Applegran Wed 30-Apr-25 15:11:46

Chautriona I am sure many others on GN are , like me, wanting to send you hugs and many good wishes. It is lovely that you can find beautiful things to celebrate and I wish you every possible good thing.

Churchview

My dentist told me she can repair the tooth I thought was a complete gonner with a simple filling.

How funny, same thing! I was expecting to be told it needed a root canal and crown. Absolutely delighted to hear a filling would suffice. I’m avoiding peanuts now!

I've just arrived back from a Coffee and Lunch session at a local bookshop. A chat and book signing from Rachel Joyce, one of my favourite authors.

The scent of the stocks in the warm garden.

I did my big start-of-the-month shopping today - yes, I know it is the 30th of April today, but my pension is paid in to my bank account on the last bank day of the month, and I shop in Germany, where May 1st is a public holiday.

Came home, put the shopping away and then weeded a six foot long flower-bed (all right, all right, it is only 45 cm wide, but I never got round to it last summer, as I was painting window frames) planted the plants I had just bought and moved some "elephant ears" that are encroaching on the path in the back garden into my newly weeded front bed, watered the lot and believe it or not: I AM NOT AN ABSOLUTE WRECK (the usual result of gardening).

Oh, and I met a friend and had a nice chat while on my way home from the shops.

IWasFirstClarinet Wed 30-Apr-25 16:03:28

Getting my hair sorted. My knees have gone, my hips are going, and my bone cancer prevents any replacements of either. I managed to hobble down to the local hairdressers and finally get a much-needed hair cut. My I feel good! smile

Gr8dame Wed 30-Apr-25 16:06:57

I made the teas and coffees at our village exercise class for older people with health problems run by young instructors who are highly trained.
We meet every week and are a very happy group who are grateful to be able to attend and I love feeling useful doing this small voluntary act.

Alison333 Wed 30-Apr-25 16:11:39

I cleared out the bottom of my wardrobe and found some sandals I'd forgotten all about! Lots of dust and cobwebs but thankfully no spiders....
