Wonderful concert except for that dreadful man (John somebody), who nearly swallowed the microphone. He might as well have done as I couldn’t make out more than a couple of words that he ‘sang’. Who on earth decided he should be on this programme? He was a real let-down.

I didn’t see much of the concert, but saw the King’s speech, which I was pleased to catch.

I agree Crossstitch, I saw that John singer, no idea who he was, but he was dreadful.

The sketch of Dads Army upset me , I accept it was a tribute but don’t want to hear anyone else say ‘ stupid boy’ ‘don’t panic, ‘may I be excused ‘ etc

I think we have to remember that John Newman has had two brain tumours and is still recovering with a gradual return to music.

They did the best they could considering the original cast are all dead now. On the whole, a good concert that I enjoyed.

Le Mesurier so polite, loved it

Netflix has some fantastic footage, Britain in the Blitz and in colour. What they went through. My mother told me the horror of incendiary bombs. The voices throughout convey the prevailing thoughts of "live for the moment there might not be a tomorrow" very moving.

I'm sure there were numerous sacrifices made. My own family made them.

I think we have to remember that John Newman has had two brain tumours and is still recovering with a gradual return to music.

He has my sympathy about his illness. However, the VE Day celebration was not the place for him when he is still recovering. If his brain tumours have affected him as much as they appeared to, he should not have been picked to perform. It was really embarrassing to watch.

I agree but as he was asked to perform he can only do his best whilst recovering.

Probably another singer would have been a better choice.
