Good Luck tomorrow Granmabatty. X

GrandmaC47 Thu 12-Jun-25 22:27:06

Thank you, Grannmarie I’m mostly in the quiet corner. We have a very quite life, so I enjoy reading of other people’s lives.

cornergran Thu 12-Jun-25 22:45:41

All good wishes for tomorrow grandmab. It will be good to have balanced eyes. I know you won’t need nagging after this one as you’re now an expert on post op rules and regulations. smile.

Hi kitchen pals, it’s been another lovely warm day up here in Inverness, just a little bit of cloud, nothing much
DGS is now safely back home from his week long school trip, a bin bag full of dirty wet washing probably means he’s had a good time! I popped round to DD2s earlier but didn’t get much conversation out of him, he was in his bedroom no doubt catching up on his online games
I enjoyed a volunteering session this morning, then a FitSteps class at the gym, finally a short walk by the river this afternoon, simple pleasures but they suit me
Hoping all has gone well for grandmabatty today, take care all x

Jaxjacky Fri 13-Jun-25 20:23:27

Hi all, a warm day with increasing humidity until a shower of light rain just now, storms forecast, I like a good storm.
Stretch class this morning, butcher for bbq bits, then Tesco delivery, the pub at tea time was very busy, sunshine encourages people out.
Fingers crossed Grandmabatty was ‘done’ early and has had a restful afternoon.
Shout out to the quiet corner, SueD, soops and FGT come to mind, but I know there are a few of you 👋👋

Nannytopsy Fri 13-Jun-25 21:21:32

It’s very close here too - we expect our thunderstorms at about midnight. DD has them in Kent now.
Ladies who lunched were taxied by the DHs and not much has happened since.
Sleep well in the quiet corner. X

Redcar Fri 13-Jun-25 21:32:15

Very warm and humid here in Essex, waiting for the rain and thunderstorms to start. Forecast for midnight I think. I’m not fond of thunderstorms, especially at night but will be happy if it rains.
I hope grandmabatty had her operation this morning and is recovering at home now.
Thinking of all those in the quiet corner.
Night night everyone.

Grran Fri 13-Jun-25 21:51:04

Just popping my head around the door to see how everyone is. Hope it all went well today GBatty.

It’s been a hot and quiet day here, especially as the puppy in training has gone off for advanced training now.
Looking forward to meeting up with the AC and GC on Sunday.
G’night everyone.

Nannytopsy Sat 14-Jun-25 05:47:20

Well that was a noisy night! A lot of huge displays of lightning and some great big bangs! And now I am awake far too early.
I hope you all managed to sleep in the south and east.

Usedtobeblonde Sat 14-Jun-25 05:55:09

Good morning.
I hope you can get back to sleep Nannytopsy
We were forecast the storms between midnight and 6am but a quiet night ensued.
It was so hot and unbearable for me yesterday, the heat is affecting me this year, I am like a wrung out rag.

I finally got my Covid jab , not a single effect, not even a sore arm.

Out for a meal tonight with my friend across the road, Italian again, our favourite.
As always kindest thoughts to those who need them, poorlies and their carers.

Grandmabatty Sat 14-Jun-25 07:55:09

Thank you ladies. I was second on the list and home, having a cuppa, before half past ten. I slept a lot in the afternoon and then had an early night. I didn't hear any thunder, unfortunately, because I love a good thunderstorm. However the ground was wet this morning and the sky very dark. I had a bit of discomfort when I got up but paracetamol has helped. My vision is improving all the time. The decision to buy cheap reading glasses was a good one and helps close up. So lazy days ahead for me! Thank you to everyone who has sent good wishes.

Nannytopsy Sat 14-Jun-25 10:46:35

Well done GrandmaBatty - glad it went smoothly.

Blossoming Sat 14-Jun-25 11:09:05

Good morning dear Kitcheners. Just catching up as I nodded off in the quiet corner last night. Glad everything went well GrandmaBatty. I didn’t see any lightning last night but I heard the thunder and the rain pelting down. It’s very grey here but no more rain at the moment so we’ve been for our daily walk and tri walker practice and are now settling down to watch some steam trains.

Yiayia4 Sat 14-Jun-25 13:19:57

Well done Grandmabatty, pleased all went well.

I need a good shake this morning to get out of a very grey mood,no rhyme or reason for it.
DS2 will be arriving soon from Derbyshire He’s meeting old school friends later for a get-together,will be nice for him.Tomorrow DS1 is doing a BBQ for everyone hopefully the weather will be OK.
Our eldest GS finished his A levels yesterday now a few weeks of partying and no more studying for a while.

Plenty of rain here last night but no storm. The suns out but it’s cooler.Enjoy your day everyone.

Redcar Sat 14-Jun-25 14:16:38

A few rumbles of thunder last night but quite a lot of rain here. The water barrels are full again but no need to water this evening. The sun is out again and it’s windy. I’m about to do a little tidying in the front garden, I have a few plants to go in to give it a bit of colour.
Pleased your operation went well grandmabatty take it easy this week!
Well done for your walk this morning blossoming, enjoy the steam trains. I was about to go for a walk this morning then realised it was raining again, so didn’t bother. Did my exercises instead!
Enjoy the rest of the day everyone. I hope the weather stays dry for those having bbqs or outside activities.

Grandmabatty Sat 14-Jun-25 17:57:03

Thank you all again for your support. I woke up in some pain but it has gone now. My pupil was still very dilated and brightness hurt my eye, in addition, someone had been rooting about with it, so it wasn't surprising it was sore.
Cornergran in particular, I have done nothing today apart from make meals (mostly prepared) and shuffled from the couch to the toilet and to my bed. I haven't even got dressed! Shocking.
Tomorrow I'll get dressed and wash the dishes but that will be the extent of my labours.
We had some rain earlier and a few bits of thunder and lightning but it didn't come to much. I'm going to make a cuppa and continue to rest. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners

Grandmabatty Sat 14-Jun-25 17:58:10

yiayia I hope the low mood disappears quickly.

brook2704 Sat 14-Jun-25 19:12:36

Hi kitchen pals, it’s been a wet and dismal day up here in Inverness, no chance of any gardening being done
We did a shop at Tesco and then called into DD2s, there’s always lots of tidying up to do and other things to be helping out with
We’re home now and will settling down for the evening in front of the TV
It happens Yia sending 💐 and hope seeing your family over the weekend helps
So pleased all went well grandmabatty and your vision has improved, now time to rest and recover, you’ll be busy again very soon
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, I’m no good with words especially on here, but I hope everyone is doing ok and if we can help or are feeling lonely at all please just say x

Jaxjacky Sat 14-Jun-25 19:54:02

Hi all, well, no storms or heavy rain here at all, a miserable shower yesterday tea time was our lot, sun and cloud today, a brisk breeze.
Paper, weeding, quick M&S visit, then watering, we’ve just eaten a stir fry.
All good Grandmabatty, your batteries are being recharged!
Sorry Yia it does swoop in and catch us, hopefully family will cheer and distract you..
Have a gentle evening all

soop Sun 15-Jun-25 11:32:04

Good morning to you lovely lot. My sincere apologies for my absence. I realise that a few of our Kitcheners have been through sad and trying times. To you, I send my love and very best wishes.

I do not have a laptop and have seldom used the computer recently. For some time I have been trying to cope with various health issues, the worst being ongoing feelings of nausea and lack of appetite. GP is juggling with meds and, thus far, there has been no improvement. If I should continue to show no sign of improvement, he will begin further in-depth investigations. Mr Soop is wonderfully supportive.

Lots going on here regarding the mobility issues. Tomorrow, a hospital bed is to be delivered. It is electronically operated...enabling me to rise etc without straining muscles. Mr Carter is my wonderful carer. He deserves several medals.

You are never far my thoughts. It is a joy to know that you offer each other comfort in so many ways. Bless you all.

Usedtobeblonde Sun 15-Jun-25 12:25:05

So sorry to hear that soop
You health issues have seemed to come on suddenly although I am aware of your ongoing issues with the aftermath of your hernia.
I hope your GP is able to help you soon.
How lucky you are with your DH.
He is truly one in a million.
I send the same kind thoughts to all of you.

Jaxjacky Sun 15-Jun-25 12:32:12

It’s all happening soop and I'm pleased you’re getting help and support, but sorry events are necessitating it.
I hope your GP magics the right formula to sort out the nausea, how dispiriting, your Mr is a sterling chap, true love.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 15-Jun-25 12:47:32

Sad to read you are having more health and mobility problems dear soop

I hope your GP can help x

Susan56 Sun 15-Jun-25 13:13:40

So sorry to hear about your health and mobility issues soop.
I hope your GP can help. What a lovely man your husband is.

Redcar Sun 15-Jun-25 13:42:43

Sorry to hear about your continuing health problems soop and I hope the gp can help you. The hospital bed will help you to at least get into and out of bed more easily. Your DH is a superstar!
A pleasant day here, sunshine and patchy cloud and thankfully less hot and humid than yesterday and Friday. I will try to do a little weeding shortly and then hopefully put a few more plants in the front garden. It’s slow progress but I’m determined to make it look better.
