Hi kitchen pals, hope everyone is doing ok
I’ve had another busy but enjoyable day, first the gym, then coffee with pals, a walk by the river and finally the bus home. I stopped off in town and did a bit of shopping before going home, there’s so many tourists of all nationalities and everywhere is busy. I think the North Coast 500 route and Outlander has brought so many tourists up here, it never used to be so busy. I don’t mind though it’s makes interesting people watching!
I hope Jax has arrived safely and has a lovely holiday
Lovely pictures Yia and pleased your GP could put your mind at rest
Hope you can get out and about tomorrow grandmabatty and enjoy the coffee with your friend too
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x

Hi all from a very windy WSM, due to abate tonight, we stopped in Cheddar on the way, it was busy, now eaten and quite tired.
Great view from the hotel.
What a lovely GP Yia, the tablets will help and you will get there, it takes time 👍

Nannytopsy Tue 24-Jun-25 20:44:00

Evening! A bit of gardening, some washing and sorted out the cupboard under the sink, so I am quite smug. And dinner was a lamb steak with salad, so nice and diety. After a couple of weeks with cake etc I need to get back on track. I would like to lose another stone before I get called for my hip op. The consultant was very hung up on weight. It would be easier if I could walk more than a couple of hundred yards!

Grran Tue 24-Jun-25 22:36:04

Hello everyone
It’s been a windy day this end, but no rain. My lawn is dry and dingy, but I don’t like to water it.
We are redecorating at the moment as we haven’t got our new pup yet.
I still miss the last pup, he was such a sweet boy.
It was good to hear from you Soop. I hope that things improve for you soon.

The kitchen is beginning to feel a bit more upbeat now. So many people have been suffering one way or another.
May we all be well, peaceful and happy.
🤗

G’night everyone

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 24-Jun-25 22:39:00

Hello kitchen people.

It was good spending the afternoon with friends.

It was the final pottery class tonight. OH and I proceeded to glaze the things we had madeover the last few weeks. Around 7 pieces each! They will be ready for collection in a week or so.

Sleep 💤 tight.

cornergran Wed 25-Jun-25 00:35:23

Hello everyone. Well, there we were stuck in a traffic queue going nowhere when an anxious sounding woman phoned to tell me the eye clinic was cancelled, the doctor had called in sick. I think she’d had her ears burned in previous calls, certainly not her fault. She offered me a re-run in two weeks at a much better time, no early start needed. It cheered me immensely. Once we extracted ourselves from one queue we joined the queue heading back home and went for a very early coffee, Mr C was pleased grin.

It allowed me to do some serious catching up and chat with a friend. We wandered out this afternoon for a stretch, a much less tiring day than anticipated for sure.

I’m pleased you have a supportive doctor yia, hope, you feel steadier very soon.

It won’t be long before you’re independent again grandmab, it will all be worth it. I’m delighted you’re being sensible, I can put my nagging head away grin.

Enjoy your break jax. Hope the wind calms down. It does seem a very draughty year.

That’s an achievement ladylfk. Will there be photos when you bring your hard work home?

It’s time I tried for sleep, it seems elusive at the moment.

There’s yet another hospital appointment tomorrow morning, locally thank goodness. I’m not looking forward to this one at all, it’s a pain clinic offshoot where unless magic wands have been issued there will be nothing new to give me hope of respite. I’m afraid I’ll emerge feeling like the most uncooperative and know it all child in a class. I’ve been using pain management techniques for over 30 years and fear there’s nothing new, it will worry me I’ve wasted their time. Why am I going? Because agreeing was a way of escaping a very overbearing consultant and believe it or not I’d rather not be labelled as difficult - which I probably am. What I really want and apparently can’t have because of pressure on the service is re-referral to spinal neurology. I’ll go to this appointment with an open mind, can promise no more.

Night night everyone.

Nannytopsy Wed 25-Jun-25 08:25:08

Good luck Corner - I hope it’s not as bad as you feared.

Grandmabatty Wed 25-Jun-25 09:33:24

I hope the hospital appointment isn't as unhelpful as you fear Corner. I went to a weight management course run by NHS in an attempt to deal with it. It was a waste of time. The presenter couldn't even spell words like protein correctly and there were many more examples which hurt my English teacher soul. 😂 Literally everything she said, I already knew.
Off out this afternoon. I'm about to go for a shower. Have a nice day all

Blossoming Wed 25-Jun-25 17:17:09

Good evening dear Kitcheners. A short visit as I’m just back from my annual eye exam and am still dazzled. Good news is I don’t need new glasses, the optician has adjusted them and they’re much better. Not so good news is the cataract in my right eye seems to have worsened, but probably not bad enough to need surgery. Anyway, I have my next Botox appointment at the Lancashire Eye Centre in August so can discuss it with the consultant then. I don’t drive and it isn’t really causing me any problems so I’ll see what they advise.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 25-Jun-25 18:04:15

Hello kitchen people. An early visit.

I had a good haircut today. I asked my hairdresser to cut off more than usual as it is so warm and humid. I won’t be able to tie it back any more. OH actually noticed and said how nice it was!

We drive over to our nearby NT property. We looked round the gardens but didn’t go in the house. I was feeling rather muggy and hot. We did manage a cream tea - £5.50 each for two scones, clotted cream and jam and a pot of tea. OH has Earl Grey and I have English Breakfast.

I heard back from the artist who made the original print I am buying from the summer exhibition. She will post it next week. So, in a couple of weeks I will have three new pictures to put somewhere. I fear I may have to rest one or two which are currently on the walls.

I have attached a photo taken today of a plant we liked the look of.

Have a good rest of the day. (This seems to be the latest phrase!)

Thorntrees Wed 25-Jun-25 18:29:31

I’m usually in the quiet corner but wanted to share my news.
Three years ago I has a rare adrenal tumour removed, there was a possibility of recurrence so have been monitored for three years with ct scans and blood tests.
Today the Consulant rang to say the recent tests were clear and I am discharged with very little if any chance of further problems.
The NHS and Liverpool hospital have been excellent so am very grateful to them.
Thinking of everyone with troubles and wishing you a peaceful nightx

GrannyGravy13 Wed 25-Jun-25 18:35:48

Thorntrees that must be such a relief for you.

cornergran Wed 25-Jun-25 19:20:57

Excellent news thorntrees. Pleased for you.

Todays hospital appointment had its moments but couldn’t possibly have been as difficult as I feared. A very pleasant clinician, we both agreed no need to go again. I’m not sure who was the most relieved.

Sounds a good day ladylfl. Hope you enjoyed your outing grandmab.

A mixed outcome for you blossoming, hope the next appointment is positive.

It’s horribly sticky here. Cloudy for a lot of the day with just a few spots of rain.

Little else achieved other than finding the salon a granddaughter is attending tomorrow. It’s her prom tomorrow evening. We’ll drive her to and from the appointment - thankfully we found somewhere we can park - it seems I’m moral support, she’s anxious in case it’s not how she wants it to be. I’m not sure I’m the best person to help, I’ve never had long hair and hers is almost waist length. Mr C will take himself off for a coffee while I enjoy watching the magic happen. Wish us all luck, please.

Quiet evening ahead here. Look after yourselves everyone.

brook2704 Wed 25-Jun-25 19:24:28

Such good news Thorntrees so very pleased for you 💐
Lovely picture llfl
A good day up here today, it’s been quite warm with short spells of sunshine. I enjoyed the gym and my riverside walk into town. Seems like today was an exact repeat of yesterday 🤣
Hope you’ve got on ok today corner and mixed news blossoming ❤️
Hope you’ve had a good afternoon gbatty and Jax is enjoying exploring
Take care all x

Jaxjacky Wed 25-Jun-25 19:44:02

Whoop, whoop *Thorntrees, great news!
Well done corner box ticked, good luck with prom duties!
Swings and roundabouts Blossoming, good no new glasses.
Similar weather brook but rain after about 5, not too heavy, but jackets required, we were disappointed so many f&c places closed on the beach. I expect they make loads when the sun shines, what we ended up with was not good.
But, we had a great day walking, reading on the beach, as well as people watching!

Doodle Wed 25-Jun-25 19:51:22

Wonderful news Thorntrees so pleased for you.
Anyone got any news of FGT do wish she was allowed back.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 25-Jun-25 19:56:28

Thorntrees 🌹🪻🌼

Jaxjacky Wed 25-Jun-25 20:05:51

Interesting plants llfl thistle/artichoke?

Grannmarie Wed 25-Jun-25 20:38:53

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people.

Soop, I'm hoping you are sleeping well in your new bed, thinking of you and MrSoop.

Hello 👋 Doodle, good to see you. IIRC, tomorrow is a big day for the FGTs. Sending them love and prayers. 💕🙏🕯

Thorntrees, wonderful news, I'm so happy for you!

Super photo, Jaxjacky, it just says 'Seaside holiday! Fingers crossed for ☀ sunshine.

Ladyleftfieldlover, I think you will have to build an extension to display your art and pottery collection! Stunning plant.

Hope Grandmabatty enjoyed her outing this afternoon. It's good to catch up with friends.

Brook, you have a nice active routine, don't change it!🤣

Cornergran, how special to be involved in the prom preparations, your lovely DGD must value your support and welcome your opinion.

Blossoming, good news about glasses 👓,
wait and see ( no pun intended!) about the cataract. I was told a few years ago that I have cataracts in both eyes, but no need for treatment yet.

Nannytopsy, your dinner sounds tasty, I'm a fan of lamb. Good luck with your weight loss for your op.

I had my massage this afternoon, it's really helpful and the therapist is very kind.

Tomorrow I'm meeting DSis1 at the pool for Aquafit...now I've got cold feet🤣 then I'm meeting DH'S sister and cousins for lunch. I'm glad I'm getting out and about again, and seeing people.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Wednesday evening and a good night's sleep. I'm watching Kiera Knightly on Film4, in the recent version of The Boston Strangler. I remember DH and I going to see Tony Curtis in the original, late 60s, early 70s?
Where does the time go?

TOYA, NNGB.

Redcar Wed 25-Jun-25 21:09:05

Excellent news for you thorntrees and for you too corner.
jaxjacky I think it’s fairly common for cafes in seaside towns to close early if the weather’s not good.
grannmarie I hope the aquafit class is good fun & not too strenuous. As you say, it’s good to get out and about again.
Very hot and humid here today, I’ve kept busy both indoors and in the garden. I was clearing some of my magazines and found an old Osteoporosis News. It had some helpful exercises which I already do, but apparently I should be doing a lot more of them! Perhaps my back will improve if I gradually increase the exercises!!
Thinking of the fgts.
I hope the * soops* are ok.
Night night everyone. Sleep well (I think a warm night is forecast for some of us).

grandMattie Wed 25-Jun-25 21:19:23

Jaxjacky

Interesting plants llfl thistle/artichoke?

They are the same family, and are called “cardoons”. The stalks are said to be edible but I’ve never tried them, though I love globe artichokes

Jaxjacky Wed 25-Jun-25 21:42:09

Thanks gMattie I’ve read about them, not seen any.

brook2704 Wed 25-Jun-25 21:48:20

I’m not up do date with FGTs latest news but hoping all goes well tomorrow, thanks for the update grannmarie

GrandmaC47 Wed 25-Jun-25 22:07:58

Thinking of the Fgts and good to see some positives for some of you.

mamaa Thu 26-Jun-25 11:34:00

Like brook2704 Im not up to date regarding FGTs appointment today, somehow I missed reading about it being forthcoming but I certainly hope it goes well and send them my best wishes for a good outcome.
I too wish FGT was back, they both seem to be on my mind in the background as I do wonder how they're getting along and hope that MrFGTs latest health problem ( as far as I know from posts I read from FGT before her enforced absence) regarding Himselfs swallowing has/is being sorted without too much discomfort.

Hoping all have as good a day as is possible, its very overcast and humid here in Suffolk this morning-the small amount of rain forecast for early morning never materialised.

I shall be popping in later this evening, as always, to read about your busyness (or not) so 'see' you then. xx
