Welcome! Please make yourselves comfortable. I thank you all for your patience and support throughout the times that we've shared. flowers

grannmarie i slept quite well last night in 26 degrees, but would have liked a longer sleep. I will probably not sleep as well over the weekend if the temperature goes up much more. I have several windows open, but traffic noise keeps me awake sometimes. I’m another one who worries about everything and everyone!
scapa1 I hope your mouth feels more comfortable tomorrow and that you are able to eat too.
A less busy day for me today, cleaned the kitchen ready for the hairdresser. My hair is nice and short again, cooler in the heat. No bingo this evening due to another function in the village hall. Apparently bingo was last Friday so we missed it, as did a lot of other people. It would have been very hot in the village hall anyway!
Night night everyone, sleep tight!

brook2704 Fri 27-Jun-25 23:27:30

Oh Scapal I know just how you feel, the end of a chapter, changes ahead but still enjoyable, just in a different way.
Pleased you’re home safely Jax and enjoyed your time away
I’m used to sleeping in the light grannmarie, it doesn’t bother me now and we don’t have blackout curtains in our bedroom. Unlike the DGCs rooms which have blackout curtains and blinds and are still apparently too light! 🙄
Hoping SueD is enjoying special family times
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, especially our dearest Soops, take care all x

Scapa it's Klondyke near Polmont. Lots of Skechers!

soop Sat 28-Jun-25 16:40:54

Yet another wee pop-in to our comforting kitchen.

Mr Soop and I thank you for your kind words. We are soldiering on at a gentle/elderly persons pace. I return to see the GP the week after next. Buggerations continue to make my mobility/ability to function without assistance extremely frustrating. Without Mr Soop's support, I would now need support from NHS carers.

I am aware that many of our Kitcheners have serious personal problems to contend with. Hence I feel it kinder to remain in the quiet corner. You are seldom far from my thoughts. Thank you all for being extra special Granspals.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 28-Jun-25 17:28:27

Dearest soop sorry you are still suffering various buggerations, sending you love and (((hugs)))

I am sitting in the shade watching The Imp splashing and swimming, hopefully tiring himself out as he is sleeping here tonight.

Lamb and chicken wings on the BBQ from our local Turkish food shop, along with bulgar wheat, babbaganoush (sp) green salad and baby new potatoes, luckily The Imp eats most things.

Wishing you a peaceful evening 🙋‍♀️

Jaxjacky Sat 28-Jun-25 18:35:18

Hi all, very humid, room for one more GG13? I could just paddle 🙂
A quiet day, a little gardening this morning, then into the newspaper, annoyed no magazines were delivered to the shop with it.
Just spoken to my daughter who’s on the beach not far away, she said it’s very windy, son and family have a tummy bug, doing the rounds locally.
MrJ is cooking dinner, sausages.
I’m sorry life is still a struggle soop Mrsoop is an angel.
Have a gentle evening all.

brook2704 Sat 28-Jun-25 18:36:32

Lovely to see you Soop sending you a gentle hug

Sounds lovely GG13 hope the Imp is tired out and sleeps well tonight

It’s been warm and sunny most of the day here, but really windy! The gardening was abandoned after half an hour as everything was blowing about, my hair was in my eyes and I couldn’t see anything. I retreated indoors to the conservatory which was too hot really but I enjoyed sitting in the warmth with my audiobook. Warm chicken salad to eat soon then I’ll look for something to watch on the TV later
Hoping everyone in the quiet corner is doing ok, take care all x

kittylester Sat 28-Jun-25 19:09:46

soop, lovely to see you. Sending you huge, but gentle, hugs.

Scapa1 Sat 28-Jun-25 20:27:29

Grandmabatty thank you must pay a visit sometime soon,! Soop good to hear from you but sorry for your buggerations.
I am persevering with the new dental plate but having to take it out to eat. I also had to buy some gel as it is quite sore.
In May I posted a photo of the swans and their eight cygnets in Doune pounds. Here is a photo taken today and I a, happy to report all eight are thriving. This is the first time in a while that all cygnets have survived. See if you can spot them all.

Redcar Sat 28-Jun-25 21:12:06

soop sorry to hear that you are still suffering from numerous buggerations, but pleased that your DH is able to help you.
Very warm here still, my garden thermometer hit 32 degrees this afternoon and says it’s still 27 out there now, the same as indoors! Not too bad if I just sit & don’t do anything! I’ve tidied a few things away and filled a bin liner with old things we used to use but don’t now.
scapa1 lovely that all eight cygnets have survived. Sorry that you mouth is so sore hopefully it will settle enough to enable you to keep the new dental plate in for longer.
GG13 I hope The Imp is tired this evening and has gone to sleep quickly.
The road that DD2 lives in had a street party today and all four of my DGDs have had a lovely afternoon playing in the street, with all the other children who live in that road. Both DDs may call in tomorrow afternoon, after the children’s cricket and swimming lessons.
Night night everyone, sleep well!

Grannmarie Sat 28-Jun-25 21:53:59

Dear Soop, I'm sorry you have buggerations to contend with, I'm sure your wonderful MrSoop will do his best to lift your spirits.
Thinking of you both.💕

Grannygravy, your BBQ sounds delicious! I hope your wee Imp tires himself out and allows you a long lie tomorrow.

Scapa, what a beautiful photo, such a tranquil setting for the cygnets to thrive in.

Jaxjacky, I'm sorry to hear about the tummy bug, hope the wee family bounce back quickly.

Brook, we've had similar weather to you, a lovely day, great drying! Two loads of washing dried quickly in the sun and wind.

Redcar, that is hot! Our temperatures were low twenties, comfortable with the breeze. Sounds like your DGDs had a great day!

I've had a good day, stayed at home, shorts and t shirt, pottering around the house and garden. Tidied a couple of drawers, then DS3 came over and helped me with a few jobs, then we sat in the shade with cold drinks. Good to see him. DDIL2 sent super photos of the Wee Boy and his cousins on her side having a brilliant time at a dinosaur park.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Saturday evening and a good night's sleep.
TOYA, especially Soops, FGTs, Blossoming and all with illness, worries or sorrow. NNGB.

Sending you a hug Soop. Sorry to hear that the buggerations persist. So pleased you have the wonderful Mr Soop.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 28-Jun-25 22:24:45

Hello kitchen people.

So good to hear from you Soop. Sorry you are still suffering those buggerations.

Sleep 💤 tight everyone.

cornergran Sat 28-Jun-25 22:48:40

Good to hear from you soop although I’m very sorry you’ve more buggerations to deal with.

Decent day here. Sat by the sea wall for an hour just watching the world go by. Mr C has plantar faciitis so we’re being careful about distance, even with seats along the way. If anyone knows the trick of getting a reluctant husband to swallow two paracetamol please share it. You’d think I was offering him arsenic.

Night night everyone.

Nannytopsy Sun 29-Jun-25 07:40:43

Morning everyone!
I have woken early because I am too warm.
soop it is lovely to see you but I am so sorry to hear that you are having problems. Thank goodness for Mr soop.
We spent yesterday evening with village friends in a beautiful (huge!) garden. Everyone took something to eat and we sat chatting until the rabbits came out, the bats appeared and the tawny owl began to call. Eventually we left as the darkness fell and the sliver of moon appeared. It is so rare to have a warm evening at the time when we have such late sunsets - a perfect evening. I shall pop over today to pick mulberries.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone - this warm weather gives you every excuse to relax.

Nannytopsy Sun 29-Jun-25 15:05:31

Corner, I have had PF which my podiatrist said was cause by my calf muscles being very tight. (A bad habit of tucking my feet under my chair at a desk)
He recommended stretches to ease them and also did a session of ultrasound on the heel pads which solved the problem.

Grandmabatty Sun 29-Jun-25 15:16:23

Good afternoon Kitcheners. It is a pleasant 20° with a light breeze here. Dd has just taken the boys home. I'm shattered! Three weeks of peace has lulled me into a false sense of security. They weren't bad, just demanding. Dgs2 had a bit of a screaming session just before they left, mainly because he didn't want to go. Lots of drawing today (dgs1) and playing with my new sandals (dgs2).
I'm going to have a quiet couple of hours before dinner. Early childcare tomorrow. Have a nice afternoon all

hulahoop Sun 29-Jun-25 16:41:04

It must be at least 30deg here.I have a nice shady patch on the terrace and it’s pleasant at the moment.
DDIL has sent pics of eldest DGS in Zante, looks like he’s having a great time.Nice he can relax after his A levels.

Thinking of you all keep cool.

Blossoming Sun 29-Jun-25 16:54:54

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. I have been rather poorly for a few days thanks to a UTI. I’m awaiting test results, hopefully tomorrow. In the meantime I’ve been drinking plenty of water, resting and taking paracetamol as been advised by my GP and I’m feeling a bit better today. We went out for a walk earlier, I was missing the fresh air. It’s very warm, no breeze.

Hope tomorrow is a better day for us all, have a peaceful evening ♥️🌹

Jaxjacky Sun 29-Jun-25 20:48:57

Hi all, sorry to hear that Blossoming, lovely picture.
A warm day, 27, farm shop, car fuelled and washing, all done before 11, a quiet afternoon before meat draw later.
corner soluble tablets maybe?
Here’s to a good nights sleep for us all.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 29-Jun-25 21:37:02
