I’m here! Did you mean FGT2?

dustyangel Mon 30-Jun-25 20:00:13

Congratulations to the newlyweds.❤️🥂💐 Neine that’s a lovely photograph and you look very glamorous. I hope you will both be very happy.

It’s very, very hot here. We went out to lunch yesterday, the owner had the ceiling fan on and three separate fans on stands to circulate the air. Outside was 41° and it’s been the same today. The forecasts are for the temperatures to go down at least a few degrees this week though.

Redcar Mon 30-Jun-25 20:00:54

Hello everyone, it’s very hot here, like jaxjacky I’m turning fans on and off and closing blinds etc. My (plastic) front door has dropped in the heat and I have to lift it a little to close it! First World problems!
I’ve not done much today, but decided to connect the hose to the tap and try it out as we haven’t much rain in the forecast. It leaked everywhere! A new hose is needed so will sort that out this week.
Night night everyone.

Good evening Kitcheners. Very hot here, I’m feeling a bit better, still drinking lots of water and following doctor’s orders. We had our usual walk down to the Dock gates today. Goodnight sleep tight 😴

GrannyGravy13 Mon 30-Jun-25 20:23:00

It’s still 26° here, DH is watching some rubbish on TV. I am reading and scrolling GN.

I have had a busy’ish day, consequently I have a rather large ironing pile for tomorrow.

Signing off 🙋‍♀️

I don't post here or on the Good Morning thread but follow both.

soop - I'm so sorry you've been so poorly and so pleased Mr soop is looking after you so well.

As you say there are so many with problems and this is such a valuable thread to share our worries with others and in return to receive such kind and good support.

Neine - a delightful photo. Many congratulations.

Grran Mon 30-Jun-25 22:09:21

Congratulations Neine, what a beautiful photo of you both. Wishing you all the luck in the world 🧡

Jaxjacky Mon 30-Jun-25 22:14:25

I did mean you llfl must’ve missed your post.
Still 22 here, I hope I sleep for longer than last night.

Georgesgran Mon 30-Jun-25 23:59:06

Still 26 in my lounge - going to be a sticky night.

Hi kitchen pals, it’s been a very warm day here in Inverness, about 22° which is just right for me
I enjoyed my usual Tuesday routine of a couple of gym classes, a coffee with pals, a riverside walk back into town then the bus home. The centre was very busy with tourists again, especially by the river and cathedral where there are quite a few cafes and restaurants with outside seating. I think there was a cruise ship docked at Invergordon, the passengers come into Inverness by coach and either stay in the town or go to various nearby attractions. It certainly makes for interesting people watching
I hope everyone further south has managed with the heat today, DD1 in Cambridge is just home from Lisbon and says it’s much warmer in Cambridge - about 30° I think
I’ve settled on the sofa now for a while, my kind DH is warming up quiche and doing a salad so we’ll have that soon
Thinking of Soop, FGT and everyone else in the quiet corner, take care all x

Hi everyone, it’s very hot here at the moment, 32 degrees in the garden but “only” 30 upstairs. Not sure how well I’ll sleep tonight.
I went for my usual walk this morning, but it was too warm for comfort. Visited my dementia friend this afternoon, she was asleep all the time I was there, but her DH appreciates someone to talk to.
My middle two granddaughters have a “beach day” at school tomorrow- their trip to a real beach was cancelled. They have to take a change of clothes and a small towel, so I guess water will be involved! No doubt I’ll hear about it tomorrow evening!
Have a pleasant evening everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 01-Jul-25 18:34:49

Good evening from a glorious hot and sunny Essex (32°) I love this weather, probably because I am a July baby.

Quiche is in the oven, should be room temperature when we have it with salad about 7.30’ish.

31 here, but a lot of cloud cover making it quite oppressive.
So, pottered about this morning, this afternoon I’ve been watching tennis and made a pasta sauce, one forecast mentions a little rain tomorrow 🙂 I hope so, although it won’t touch the garden.
Local schools have allowed PE kit to be worn today and yesterday, no uniform.

Good evening Kitcheners. I've had a lovely day with the boys. We didn't venture far, but walked to the swing park again. Both boys have been so well behaved today. They've eaten well, played nicely and been helpful. Dgs1 is sitting on the couch beside me as I watch Wimbledon. Dgs2 is sleeping. I'm about to make my dinner. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 01-Jul-25 20:48:11

Hello kitchen people.

What a hot day - it was 29 degrees this afternoon.

The WI coffee morning was fun. There were more than a dozen of us. Sadly it was too hot for cake!

I visited friends this afternoon. We sat in the garden in the shade. Our friend’s husband is not recovering from his stroke, so it’s just a matter of time.

Have a good evening.

Jaxjacky Tue 01-Jul-25 20:56:20

How very sad llfl

Blossoming Tue 01-Jul-25 20:58:05

Hello all, it’s been cloudy and muggy here today but fortunately the sea breeze kept us cool when we went out for our walk. Have a good evening xx

Yiayia4 Tue 01-Jul-25 21:53:10

Morning! It’s grey and damp here in Suffolk this morning with rain forecast on and off all day. Thank goodness for some respite!
We got home mid evening yesterday, having left the bedroom windows open. The house was full of smoke from the bonfire our neighbour had lit and we couldn’t sit outside either. She runs a rabbit rescue in the garden and burns the stuff from the cages. I’m so fed up of this. 🤬
I hope those in the quiet corner are feeling better today despite the warm days and nights.

brook2704 Wed 02-Jul-25 15:17:19

Hi kitchen pals, it’s another lovely warm day up here in Inverness, there’s a bit of cloud around but it’s not rained yet
I’ve just finished at the eye clinic and walked across to the local garden centre for a coffee - DH is supposed to be meeting me here soon but goodness knows where he is 🤷‍♀️
My appointment at the eye clinic went well, I thought it was just for a regular check up but they did the visual field test and scans behind the eyes etc. I always fear the worst so I was sat in the waiting room feeling generally fed up. But after seeing the doctor she was pleased and signed me off for a year so I’m feeling much better now!
I’d be really annoyed nannytopsy is there anything you can do ?
I hope everyone in the quiet corner is doing ok today, take care all x

Redcar Wed 02-Jul-25 17:12:06

Pleased your eye appointment went well brooke, a relief for you! I hope you didn’t have to wait too long for your DH in the garden centre.
nannytopsy how annoying for you and inconsiderate of your neighbour. Are there any local bye-laws about having bonfires?
A cooler day here today, with a few light showers this morning, but nothing useful. The house is a little cooler so hopefully I’ll have a bit more sleep tonight. I’m dog minding at DD1s tomorrow.

Nannytopsy Wed 02-Jul-25 18:36:59

Our neighbour can be very difficult but an email today got a very reasonable response. We will see how long it lasts!

Grandmabatty Wed 02-Jul-25 18:50:41

Good evening Kitcheners. Brook great news! I'm glad the eye hospital appointment went well. Nannytopsy I really hope your neighbour is more considerate from now on. Redcar it's poured here for most of the day but clearing up now. Yiayia that temperature sounds very uncomfortable.
I've had the boys overnight and they were truly delightful. No fighting just lots of cuddles and laughs. They helped me weed the front garden, collected all my jam jars out of the cupboard to save me bending and dgs1 tidied away all the train set without being asked. When their mum and dad picked them up, we went out for lunch and they behaved well there too. Dsil always gets anxious about their behaviour but they were so good. I came home and promptly lay down for a nap. Dinner tonight was a sandwich. So a busy three days. I'm looking forward to a quiet Thursday. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners

Jaxjacky Wed 02-Jul-25 18:51:25

Hi all, a cooler day, still 25, but no rain, people living within a few miles had a sprinkling.
I took my daughter out for an afternoon tea, it’s her birthday tomorrow, very tasty and next to a local zoo, interesting background noises!
I do hope that email causes a permanent change Nannytopsy my sun had a similar problem, after a chat all is well.
Phew brook I understand the trepidation, skipping home I bet!
Spanish omelettes for dinner with chips for MrJ.
Watering later.

cornergran Wed 02-Jul-25 20:24:06

Hello everyone. Much cooler here with a fresh breeze today. I managed a comfortable hour in the garden. First for ages it’s either been too hot or too windy.

That’s beyond thoughtless nannyt. 🤞 the email did the trick.

Good news brook. The waiting after the scans can seem to go on forever. I’ve an eye hospital appointment next week when I hope after 18 months someone - anyone - can put a name to whatever it is that ails my eyes. So far I’ve been told it’s very interesting, and also odd, but not something that fits any diagnostic criteria. I do like to be different. grin.

Afternoon tea sounds good jax.

Thankfully Mr C’s foot is improving. We’re meeting friends tomorrow, have changed the venue from some caves to somewhere with a flat floor and seats. Seemed sensible. They’re good friends and I’m looking forward to catching up.

The FGT’s have been on my mind today. I hope they’ve both got lots of loving support.

Hope everyone can rest well tonight.
