Hello, just popping in to report that we’ve been having a good time with all the family around. Catering for sixteen has its challenges though! Am now down to meals for eight, which is somewhat easier. grin

Take care everyone, TOYA.

Cooler here today m, we had a couple of hours of light rain, surprisingly not at school drop off/pick up.

I have cleared out my shoe cupboards, some beautiful ones going to the charity shop, others hardly worn to my sister. Haven’t (probably won’t) sorted my boots, I love them all and do wear them all in the colder months.

Night night 🙋‍♀️

Lovely to hear from you SueD and a very well done with all the catering, it must have been very busy for you - and still is I guess!
Thank you all for your kind comments, I do feel relieved that all is well with my eyes for now. I hope you get some good news next week too Corner, I’ve also been an interesting case in the past but much more settled now. Have a lovely day tomorrow
Afternoon tea sounds great Jax and a very Happy Birthday to your DD for tomorrow 🎂🥂💐
Both your little DGSs sound so kind and helpful grandmabatty I hope you have another good day tomorrow too

Hello kitchen people.

I’ve been busy today - well busy buying things! A colourful straw hat, a rechargeable hand fan, a cushion, talcum powder and a soap dish.

Sleep 💤 tight.

Redcar Wed 02-Jul-25 22:34:23

llfl pleased your shopping trip was so successful.
My granddaughters’ beach day at school was great fun apparently, despite the damp weather. Lots of paddling pools, some with water in and some with sand, an ice cream van , games to play etc. tomorrow is a non uniform day for them. Eldest has a non uniform day and a crazy hair day on Friday! Still two weeks until they break up.
Night night everyone, sleep well.

Nannytopsy Thu 03-Jul-25 09:19:55

That sounds like a lovely school day! Well done to them.
Cooler and fresher this morning but cloudless again. A bit of gardening and mountains of ironing today.
Our church needs the roof re tiling and it’s going to cost about £200k. I need to start applying for grants and writing begging letters. Perhaps today’s the day to fire up the laptop.
Hope you all enjoy your day

TillyTrotter Thu 03-Jul-25 20:01:14

Sorry it’s a bit late but 💒 Congratulations to Neine and MrNeine.
Lovely to see you glowing with happiness on your Wedding Day.

Jaxjacky Thu 03-Jul-25 20:09:33

Crumbs SueD sounds like a canteen, well done you and your helpers, I'm sure there’s much joy and laughter too.
I buy a cooling water spray from Superdrug llfl, it’s really refreshing and I have an old fashioned fan bought in Françe, looks like more heat coming in about a week here.
A cleaning morning, kitchen blitzed, then the rest of the downstairs, then I went for a walk. It’s my daughters 39th birthday, we sang Happy Birthday to her at 7:40 am on the phone 🙂
Watering of greenhouse done, now to find something to watch.

I have sold my car, handed my driving licence to the DVLA and bought a mobility scooter. Not every road here has dropped pavements, so I sent an email to my MP, and the reply was so hilarious it made my evening.

He replied by email within 48 hours, apologising for the delay, and then wrote a mini-novel telling me how well Labour had done since taking office, starting with the WFA, then the NHS, moving on to Social Services, and also mentioning that free swimming lessons were available. You get the drift.

He lives pretty close to me, but no mention of our grotty roads and worse pavements. Admittedly, it is the Conservatives who are in local Government, so they are responsible at present.

His assistant emailed saying she had informed the local council of my problems, as I had. I replied, telling her the MP's reply to me was a load of twaddle, put slightly more politely.

It brightened up my evening.

Please excuse me for copying this post on here and the lobsters. It's so long and I'll never remember it all twice. Thank you for all your lovely comments on our wedding photo....it was certainly one of the better ones..I look like a witch in some of them😱
It was a perfect day...the sun came out as we left for the church. M and R ( Thelma and Vera) in the front, me poured into the back...we did get some funny looks when we drew into a Tesco Express to get some bottles of water.!!!
My former neighbour stepped in to walk me down the aisle as our dear friends from Corsham were unable to come). I had chosen a piece of music called In the name of the Father by Enrico Morricone from The Mission to come into and it's wonderful uplifting notes filled the church.
The mass was everything I dreamt it would be...we chose hymns we hoped people would know...Amazing Grace at the beginning and the almost catholic anthem Our God Reigns at the end saw me jiggling at the altar. Our wonderful friend played Ave Maria on the flute while we signed the register
I was very glad I'd bought some waterproof mascara the day before as I did stumble over a few lines of my vows but didn't actually cry
I can share with you ( I haven't with anyone else)...there was a tiny part of me that hoped I'd see my 4 beautiful girls in the church but it was not to be and in fairness It may well have not got back to them that I was getting married. It was a fleeting moment only.
The tractor and trailer ride was brilliant...getting onto the trailer was hysterical..at one point I thought DH was going to put me over his shoulder and turf me on but a set of steps appeared and after a few false starts due to me being in fits of giggles we were both ensconced on a sofa ( I know..an actual leather sofa) and off we went... We were hoisted and clapped and waved at by so many people on the way..( it took over half an hour and ooh it was hot but it didn't seem to matter). I couldn't stop smiling..(I don't think I did all day).

The reception was held at an Inn in the country and my friend ( the one whose 60th I had been to in Spain two weeks before) had dressed the room...cream chair covers and dusky pink bows etc and another friend had filled jam jars with cottage garden flowers....nigella. sweet peas... antirrhinums and they looked glorious. I didn't dare eat much of the gorgeous carvery as the dress was fitted and clinging to those newly measured 32H bad boys ( that's ridiculous) and to put any further strain on the zip could have been disastrous The groom and best man speeches were brilliant...a couple of slightly risque moments were greeted with lots of loud laughter especially when the best man cleared a space on the table in front of us and then asked me to put my hand down and then asked DH to place his on top and then said to DH ....,'make the most of this moment...it's the only time you'll have the upper hand'.
The singer was fabulous as always...we had to book him over a year ago...that's how popular he is...our first dance ( shuffle) was to one chosen by DH called Special by The Dualers I did nearly weep then as I don't recognise the person that others seem to see me as..our parish priest in his homily had mentioned so many lovely attributes that I wasn't sure if I was wearing a tiara or a halo at that point Maybe we only see our imperfections clearly... That comes far more naturally to me I soon recovered though and stomped my way through 500 miles. The final song was Perfect by Ed Sheeran and the only thing that would have made the day even more perfect was if Andrea Bocelli had appeared half way through and sung it in Italian as he does on a collaboration with Ed on my favourite version.
We had a day filled with love, surrounded by people who wanted to share our happiness.... And guess what...I had so little to drink ( half a glass of prosecco to DH 2 glasses of red wine) that I drove us back to the shepherds hut we were staying in that night
Part two to follow if you are all still awake

blue14 Fri 04-Jul-25 10:37:24

"We had a day filled with love......."

What more could anyone ask for on their wedding day - just perfect!

The Mass was everything I dreamt it would be...
Dear Neine, you have waited so long for your perfect wedding day, I'm so glad that everything went well for you both. 💕🙏⛪

I'm entertaining the Wee Boy today, it's wet and windy outside so we built a great den in the spare bedroom, with cushions, pillows, cuddly toys and favourite story books, that kept us busy for a while. Now he's having some screen time so I'm popping in to wish everyone well, especially our absent friends and all in the quiet corner.

TOYA

How lovely Neine thank you for sharing with us.❤️

It’s been very warm again today mostly spent outside.
My eldest DGs is back from holiday safe and well and seems he had a brilliant time.
Last few days have been a bit challenging but another day tomorrow.

Good to hear from you Charliegirl5 give your MP hell.🤣

Grandmadinosaur Fri 04-Jul-25 19:54:29

That does sound the most perfect day naughtyneine I’m pleased for you both.

Looking forward to part two!

GrandmaC47 Fri 04-Jul-25 20:01:04

A magical day, Neine. 🍾🥂

Redcar Fri 04-Jul-25 20:06:45

Another hot and breezy day today, the water barrels are nearly empty. I was getting quite excited at the prospect of some rain overnight, but the latest forecast shows it missing us - again!
I’m looking into getting a porous hosepipe which will dribble water onto the plant roots, DD2 has one and says it’s easy to install. It would save me standing waving a hose around.
Feeling frustrated at the moment waiting for various tradespeople to get back to me. I’ve asked my plumber to service the boiler but other than an acknowledgment I haven’t heard from him, also waiting for a quote for a replacement double glazed window, and hoping someone from a blinds company will respond to a message I left regarding replacement vertical blinds! Perhaps next week!
I’m watching Gardeners World at the Hampton Court Flower Show, and the grass is yellow there too!
Enjoy the rest of your evening everyone!

Septimia Fri 04-Jul-25 20:08:52

cornergran Fri 04-Jul-25 21:21:43

Hello everyone. I’m off to the quiet corner, budge up everyone, please. Feeling a bit overwhelmed in RL at the moment, doing a lot of supporting other folks in their struggles. Shocked to see the error I was very reasonably taken to task about on another thread today. A lesson learned. TOYA.

Jaxjacky Fri 04-Jul-25 21:44:00

Oh corner I’m so sorry to hear this, please try and take some time for you xx
