Fed up of the Beckhams

Like many on here, I am not a fan of the Beckhams.
I don't begrudge them their wealth but don't always like their greed for it. David Beckham conveniently forgot his ethics when he became an ambassador for Qatar when the World Cup was held there. He was an icon to the gay community but the lure of £125m from a country with dreadful human rights towards gay people overcame his scruples.
His efforts to be knighted are cringeworthy at times, his recent one being at the Chelsea Flower Show meeting the King with a King Charles III rose in his lapel.
However, they are currently estranged from their eldest son and celebrities or not, this must hurt like hell. The Estrangement forum on here is heart-breaking to read. It can affect anyone as we have seen with our Royal Family. Therefore, everything else aside, I feel very sorry for them that at the moment they have no contact with a loved son.

I agree Sarnia it’s a real shame for any family to be torn apart.
I know two families that this happened to in similar circumstances and all down to the DIL. Really sad but she just wanted her partner/ DH and to cut out the extended family.

I feel rather sorry for Harper Beckham at 13 having little privacy in her early teens and wearing very adult clothes. I can see problems ahead such as "film stars" suffer when pushed into the limelight so early.

I suppose the estrangement gives him something in common with the King

The estrangement and the fact that the Sussex's have had a fall out with the Beckham's as well! oh well I suppose she'll get round to falling out with just about anybody on the world stage eventually but I'm sure they, the King and Beckham, may feel they have a mutual understanding of difficulties with daughters in law possibly

I always think it is the media that keeps writing and printing Beckham stories.

Maybe I am naive in thinking it doesnt have much to do with the Beckhams at all.

I disagree, I think they collude with the media, through umpteen publicists and their own media platforms. Why do such people, put out personal birthday greetings for example, along the lines of "we love you so much, you make us so proud" when the person in question is right there with them or in the next room There are a wealth of high profile entertainers out there who keep their private lives/children strictly under wraps and maybe appear to raise the profile of film,book, music whatever and then quietly withdraw until the next time they have something to promote

Self aggrandisement, Sussexes and Beckhams the worst exponents followed by Katie Price, loads of so called influencers and general z listers.

The Beckhams are only 'news' because the tabloids and media are feeding readers what they want to read. So best blame the newspapers and the readers, not the celebrities!

Odd that someone starts a thread about a subject they are fed up hearing about.
I watched the 2023 Beckham documentary, never had much time for either if them but the reviews were surprisingly positive.
He deserves a knighthood, l think she's been so misrepresented in the media a that she's had to grow a very thick skin and noone sees the real Victoria, mother of four who has always done her best for her husband and children whilst trying to maintain an independent career, despite the money all that's not that easy.

I think that must be true.
But sometimes, as the op suggests, it is everywhere.

Surely the Beckhams dont want as much written about their son?
Perhaps they do? What do I know.

It will have to be Sir David soon I should think. He is putting the work in.

Beckham's an Ambassador for the King's Foundation, given the horticultural connection and David Beckham's OCD attention to detail, wearing that particular rose was a foregone conclusion.

And he queued for hours alongside the general public to pay his respects to the late Queen, without any fuss.

I am another who know nothing about the beckhams or their family problems. I do remember they called one of the children Brooklyn. To celebrate the place he was conceived, that’s about it really. Didn’t realise he’s old enough to be married/ in a relationship. Not good for Mil to criticise dil. No happy ending for them. .

Always thought David was misjudged, he seemed quite pleasant when I watched him interviewed by Terry wogan.

Oh and Victoria had been the customer in front of me in a lingerie shop in Bluewater. She bought the same pair of pjs that I was buying for my dd. The staff were sooo excited but I didn’t see her, she left as I arrived. My very flimsy claim to beckham fame.

I wouldn't pay that for a poplin skirt Astitchintime but some poplins are very different to others (as you will know). Japanese poplin in 120 -130gsm is regularly £20 a metre for example. Sanforized poplin is also more expensive than regular poplin.

And some poplins are actually not as tightly woven as others - or some use inferior threads.

Not trying to justify, but just saying.

It will also depend where the skirt is made of course and quality of the workmanship and fixings/lining etc.

Anyone who's ever been to a fabric show (such as ^Premier Vision^) or a quality fabric shop with a good range of products (such as ^Joel & Son^) will not be surprised that the apparently same cloth is in multiple grades.

I weave. I can tell Chinese yarn processing from Italian processing. This must also carry through into the fabric.

I think he lessened his chances of a Knighthood when the email was leaked in which he used foul language and leashed a tirade on other celebrities who had received honours when he felt that he deserved one more.
