I’ve just taken my evening tablets with a glass of champagne.

What do you do that is wrong?

There have been times when 2 co-codamol and a glass of brandy was the only thing for the pain. I think your champagne and prescribed meds is a lot classier.

What about brandy and champagne - with a maraschino cherry to add some class? 😀

Brandy and Babycham used to be a popular drink but the painkillers usually came the morning after.

Sitting playing word games when I should be cleaning the bathrooms

Or in my case laying on the bed reading ' just one more chapter' when I should be cleaning the bathroom.

I’ve done all the above, apart from attending parents’ evenings whilst ‘drunk’ … but then I was the teacher, so that would be REALLY wrong🤣🤣🤣

Loving this thread🖤

😂😂😂

I bet you needed a tipple afterwards!

Co-codamol doesn’t agree with me, I took two so that I could get to a parents evening, the next day the head teacher rang me and said she was extremely disappointed that I had attended whilst obviously drunk

GrannyGravy my friend had to leave me in M&S while she whizzed round to finish her food shopping. I'd taken co-codamol with water after my lunch and was in zombie-like state. Somehow she got me home again.
(Obviously it was the water.)

I certainly did Allira🤣🤣🤣

I am on holiday and for a snack at lunch I ordered Patatas Bravas and was pleased my DH ordered a toastie and fries because he’d leave my patatas bravas alone. But when they came they were a two person portion absolutely a huge plateful and I ate them all. My excuse was ‘ah well I’m on holiday’ I swear DH was giggling behind his toastie. 🤷‍♀️I’m also a lost cause. It’s always my go to excuse. Or there is a ‘Y’ in the day. 🤦 But wow they were yum.

If you buy fruit and nut chocolate then you are adding protein and one of your five a day fruit requirements to your diet ..and much joy to your life.

I used my husbands nose trimmer today to get those little fine hairs on my brow line, it worked a treat!

I just took a cod liver oil capsule with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc.

A spoonful of sugar etc.

Sago, do you finish the champagne, put a stopper in the bottle, or share it? I need to know, so that I can follow suit.

Champagne just doesn’t taste the same next day.
It has to be consumed chilled and preferably shared.

I have been known to be that desperate with a migraine, when nothing else worked to take my prescription medication with an extremely large glass of wine.

Wine for a relaxant, meds for pain relief, dark room for hope.

You are not the only one, I would take anything in any combination, if I thought it would ensure I fell asleep for at least 8 hours, no matter how bad the pain.

We have a special champagne stopper, keeps the fizz in.

If only I could find it.

I also have a stopper, purchased in France. Although second day champagne is not quite as good, it is a compromise and with a few hors d’oevres is not completely unpalatable - better than pouring it down the drain. Problem is that I am very, very discerning (picky) about who I share such treats with.

NanKate Mon 02-Jun-25 07:22:25

Take a codeine tablet to help me sleep.

BlueSapphire Mon 02-Jun-25 07:31:30

Yes to all of the above (apart from turning up at school drunk) - but then I was the teacher too!

I didn’t turn up drunk

I had taken co-codamol for the problem I have with my sacroiliac joint. I had an adverse reaction to the medication 💊

Even I don’t crack open a bottle at 3pm on a Tuesday afternoon!

mabon1 Mon 02-Jun-25 13:41:16

I don't like champagne either. Much prefer a good Shiraz, however I wouldn't waste it by swallowing tablets with it, prefer to savour it.

grannybuy Mon 02-Jun-25 13:43:53

Buy a bag of Revels ‘ for the grandchildren ‘, but eat most of them myself! Also, visit my other chocolate stash too often. If ever I don’t want chocolate, I’ll know there’s something wrong with me!

Smoking. I know it's horrible and I do want to stop but it is so hard ☹️

Fartooold Mon 02-Jun-25 14:00:14

I love you lot I am normal 💗💗

These postings have cheered me up! So glad there are others out there who just swallow their pain medication with whatever drink is on hand. No doubt someone will come along and tell us how irresponsible we are.

WithNobsOnIt Mon 02-Jun-25 14:27:50

Is this a pee take. Not funny or do have somekind drink problem..Also not funny.

Alcohol and medicine not advisable.

Lastly. How old are..You sound about five.
