I don't have a great deal to say on the subject apart from wanting to salute the numerous great dads out there and to say boo to those who are not so great.

And to those we have lost. X

Yes,*Georgesgran*. Thinking of my lovely Daddy today and missing him. Wish we could go to the garden centre and cafe together just one more time!

Happy Father’s Day to all the lovely wonderful dads out there.

My dad died back in 1971 and I miss him so much.

Lovetopaint037 Sun 15-Jun-25 11:34:53

Yes my lovely dad. I learnt so much from his wise words. Really miss him but his advice I have repeated so many times.

Also thinking of those who have had difficult relationships with their fathers.

Have always envied those with a good dad.

Visgir1 Sun 15-Jun-25 12:25:47

I was in bits again, as they played "Dancing with my Father again " by Luther Vandross on the radio.
How I would love to do that, I really miss my fabulous Dad, I was so lucky to have had him, he passed away just before my 60th Birthday, miss him every day.

My darling Dad died in 1989 but never a day passes when I don't think of him.

Georgesgran Sun 15-Jun-25 12:28:27

I switch that off Visgir1. My DDs had that played at DH’s funeral.

It’s been 59 years since I lost my wonderful Dad, I think of him all the time especially on Father’s Day. Our son who was born eight months after he died visited yesterday to see his Dad as he is working today, he brought his three wonderful children and he is as wonderful a Dad to them as my Dad was to me so it was very emotional for me to see the resemblance. silverlining48 I only had my Dad for 22 years but I realize how lucky I was, I have wonderful memories.

Me too silverlining. I can't imagine what it was like to have a nice dad.

I had a lovely Dad and talk about him often. I must pay tribute, also, to the next generation- my son and sons - in- law doing a great job raising my grandchildren.

Sago Sun 15-Jun-25 14:40:21

My Father was an awful man, the day he died I was so relieved.

pably15 Sun 15-Jun-25 14:50:20

I too had a great dad, he died 1977 , he very seldom raised his voice. not a day passes when I don't think of both him and my mum.

silverlining48 Sun 15-Jun-25 15:00:15

Exactly how I felt Sago. He was neither missed nor mourned. What he did to me was unforgivable.

GrannyIvy Sun 15-Jun-25 15:59:28

I am lucky my dad was lovely a good dad. He passed away suddenly in 2006. I will raise a glass to him today.

My dad was a gentle, caring man. He died a long time ago and I'm grateful that I had such a clever soft hearted father.
My friend was terrified of her father. She once said she wished her daddy was like mine.

silverlining48 Sun 15-Jun-25 16:50:51

Oh I used to wish that too AGA. How lovely to have had a kind father.

Tess46 Sun 15-Jun-25 21:06:36

I cannot imagine what it would have been like to have a nice loveing dad. Mine enjoyed getting me in trouble with my mother if he could tell her I’d done something she would be cross over. He was enemy no 1. I can’t miss haveing a lovely dad though because I don’t know what that would be like. It’s lovely to read all the posts you all write about your wonderful dads.

NotAGran55 Sun 15-Jun-25 21:42:19

My dad was the best dad in the world.
His own dad died when he was 2 years old from working in the mines.
He told me that he didn’t know what it was like to have a dad until he was 7 years old at the school gates, when he saw another boy’s dad pick him up and swing him around 😔
