Dinner Plates

I have plain white from Ikea, I'll be sad when they go to China Heaven ...

My very elderly neighbour had a twice weekly cleaner; I moved in to his house when he was long term hospitalised, found the dishwasher stank to high heaven. Took a couple of hours and YouTube to figure out how to get the filter out. Oh my. Oh my. It's four years ago but I think I will be mentally scarred forever.

I have never quite understood why big plates make you eat more - except at buffets - .

I work on portion size and whether serving up pre-plated food or serving at the table. The portion size stays the same. The size of the plate or bowl is irrelevant

Have you tried searching for ‘lunch’ or ‘salad’ plates? They tend to be smaller by a couple of cm

Just as an aside - we bought an John Lewis Anyday set and keep chipping the tea plates - they are a dying breed. All the rest of the set is still available but not the tea plates. Side plates are bigger.

I feel your pain. My Retriever almost gets in the dishwasher to do the pre wash. Good job the cycle I put on sterilises everything.

Sorry, but am I the only one who finds this a bit yuk! I can’t bear the thought of any animal licking household plates, whether or not they’ll be dishwashed. The dishwasher cleans by soapy water cascading down the crockery. Nowhere is there anything that actually rubs the dog-lick off the plates! Yuk, just yuk!

I think you need salad plates. They are smaller than dinner plates. Why not try a charity shop?

I have some Denby square plates, plain white but just the right size for lunch or a smaller dinner.
They were available at Denby outlet stores cheaper.

Err joke amongst doggie folk! It's in his eyes and his tail! ..... almost but not! 👀

1. At 32 kilos he wouldn't fit into the machine.
2. The door would break off.
3. I'd be scared he'd cut himself on cutlery.
4. Or find a bit of garlic or chilli which doesn't agree with dogs.
5. And I instill appropriate boundaries for my dogs.

But don't worry, I'll cross you off the GN invitation to dinner at my place so you won't have to worry!

Dishwashers use high temperatures and detergents to sanitize dishes, effectively killing bacteria, including those that might be present in dog saliva.

While dog saliva does contain bacteria, it's not significantly different from the bacteria in human mouths.
