Paul McCartney is 83 today. Where on earth did that time go?

I think it’s high time Paul stopped singing, in fact I thought that at least 15 years ago, his voice has gone completely.
The Beatles were so good and talented that he doesn’t need to and it’s cringeworthy.
There are Beatles tribute bands everywhere in the world, we once heard a band from Moldova in a London Pub.

Why should he?

Oreo Thu 26-Jun-25 13:46:50

Because he sounds terrible?

Don't listen to him then.

I love his voice like I loved Leonard Cohens when he was in his 70s. They are recognisable voices. And Bruce Springsteen. Dont care how old they are...well Bruce is the same age as I am. So still so young!!!

But now and then he ops up on a news item or televised event I’m watching.

My nephews, who are in their 3Os, were desperate to get tickets for Paul's latest tour but it sold out in minutes. Sometimes it's not about the voice but seeing a Beatle
s live. They went to see The Rolling Stones a couple of years ago too. Paul's voice is not great now but he surrounds himself with the best musicians who help. After all, when I went to Beatles concerts in the 60s, I never heard a word they sang!

And it bothered them Kate that nobody was listening and just screaming which is one of the reasons they were fed up of touring or appearing live anywhere in the end, according to a docu I once watched about them. They preferred the studio work and making records.

Yes I know but we were teenagers. I can appreciate the music now I'm over the hysteria.

I was born in the early hours of Paul McCartney’s 14th birthday. At 7, with The Beatles dominating the tv news, I was an enthusiastic fan and was allowed to buy I Want To Hold Your Hand with Christmas money from my grandmother. I still have that 7” single, along with most of the others, and all their chart LPs.

I have been to three of Sir Paul’s concerts, at Earl’s Court and the NEC, and then a small gig at the BBC’s Maida Vale studios after getting lucky in the ballot. That was over 20 years ago and sadly I haven’t been able to afford his more recent tours. So what if his voice isn’t what it was? I’d still love to see him on tour again!

I'd rather remember him as he was when I saw him in November 1963!
