Good morning from Malta where we expect a high of 34°C today with a chance of isolated showers.

The boys were extremely active yesterday and spent a lot of time bouncing around on the sofa practicing their newly acquired skill of doing somersaults!

I was a nervous wreck imagining them injuring themselves but the plus point was that they tired themselves out and were ready for a nap after lunch.

They went off happily to nursery and I went home to watch tennis after stopping for boring things like milk.

Today I will probably bring them over to my place again as they don’t seem to go so wild here!😂

Hope the day is kind to you all.☀️

Good morning from an already warm Bristol. We are promised 30C today, which is far too hot for me.
I was wiped out yesterday. The FAB cafe seemed extra busy with 14 people drifting in and I barely sat down all morning. I had one hour to walk home, have lunch and go back to help set up and get ready to serve tea and scones at my ladies’ thingy.
We were 36, so it took a little time . I had promised to serve tea. There was a trolley, and I had one helper to “milk” the tea. This meant that,,once again, I barely sat down.
I was sent home with loads of uneaten scones and cream for the family, some of which I shared with my neighbours, to their delight.
I was in bed just after 8 and managed to sleep reasonably well.
Only tai chi this morning, then DD’s for dinner. Unfortunately this means walking the 15 minutes uphill from the bus, at the time when it’s at its hottest. 🥵. Ah well.
I hope everyone has the best of days. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

It’s going to be another scorcher, as they say!

I’m still in bed and won’t get up for a while.

I’ll probably spend most of the day inside. As I’ve got older I find hot weather more difficult. I have plenty to do including several books on the go!

OH has quite a lot of bee related things to do. He drew off two large tubs of honey yesterday. He has to return the frames to his hives and take the device he used to remove the honey back to the owner. He hired it for a couple of days.

Have a good day. I do hope MaryD is feeling more chirpy and that all is well with the FGT2S.

Sar53 Thu 19-Jun-25 06:20:59

Good morning from the Essex coast where another hot day is forecast.
DH has a doctor's appointment at 9.15, I'll do the food shopping whilst he is in the surgery.
No plans for the rest of the day.
Take care in the sun everyone, best wishes to all xx

Jaxjacky Thu 19-Jun-25 06:24:42

Morning Mick and all from sunny S Hants, another warm one and day 3 of Covid for me.
I slept pretty well, the cough has lessened, but I’ll be in the house or thereabouts today, early watering at the front - westerly facing.
Stay hydrated everyone

A brief good morning from me, I till don't really feel up to posting and my concentration is awful..
My episode of pancreatitis has left me exhausted and I have been rather fed up with life!

To those who commented on the thread which Maw started and the posters on this thread, who took time to PM me, thank you. 💕

Enjoy your day, whatever your plans.

Greyduster Thu 19-Jun-25 06:27:09

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Hot again in South Yorkshire and I slept very badly last night, with various silly things rattling round in my head, as they do!
The librarian-led creative writing session at the library was a washout for me - for the first time I couldn’t think of a single thing to write. After a couple of false starts, I gave up. I don’t much like writing “on the hoof” but can usually manage something. Then of course I came home and thought of a dozen things I could have written about!
I am supposed to be walking this morning, but I’m going to have a day at home instead.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning from a bright and sunny Torbay. The expected high is in the mid twenties.

Lidl was virtually deserted yesterday morning when we arrived just after seven with more staff there than customers! The play last night (Noises Off) was very fast paced and our enjoyment wasn’t spoilt by one part being successfully carried by an understudy (on book) due to the original actor being unwell. The tickets are selling well which should please the Treasurer! At last I’m able to enjoy my Front of House duties without finding them too taxing. Today we’re going out for an afternoon tea at a hotel in Torquay, a Christmas gift from my DS.

It’s good to hear from you, Marydoll and I hope another few restful days will help you feel better.

A good day is wished to you all. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. I’m not quite sure what the weather is doing, it’s a cloudy so there may be some rain.

We just took the children home after school yesterday instead of going for ice cream as the sky looked ominous. I collected the youngest from nursery, didn’t want to sit in the buggy but was so tired on the walk home that his eyes were closing, I would swear he was actually asleep a couple of moments along the way.

I’ve an appointment with a podiatrist today, hopefully my feet will be ready for sandal wearing afterwards. I must look up the difference between podiatrist and chiropodist.

Good to hear from you Marydoll, hope you feel a bit better today.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire. Yesterday's mist lifted and we had a hot, sunny day. It was very hot in school. The water area was very popular! We ended up closing the outdoor area at about 2pm. It was hot and sticky inside, but at least there was no risk of sunburn.

Your dress has lovely colours, Karma.

What a beautiful description of your visit to your Mum, Susan56. So lovely that she gets pleasure from music.

Today I'm going over to a friend's for lunch. I'm taking her a planted up pot of homegrown plants as a thankyou.
Before that, I need to pack for a trip to our caravan. I'm not needed in school next week so I'm going for a few extra days than originally planned.
We're collecting DS en route. He's doing a sponsored walk in Snowdonia tomorrow. So I need food for tonight, tomorrow morning and his packed lunch for the walk.
I've planted up a sunflower, cosmos and nasturtiums in a pot for DS's garden. I think the children will enjoy measuring the sunflower as it grows.

Sorry to hear you're feeling rough, Marydoll. Glad the messages of concern have helped.

Take care, everyone, have a good day. 🌻

kittylester Thu 19-Jun-25 07:06:08

Good morning from a stick North Leicestershire.

I'm about day 9 of covid Jax. I'm not ill now but still exhausted. I think the heat is not helping. I might attempt the short walk to the village today.

Have the best day possible, everyone.

grandMattie Thu 19-Jun-25 07:13:02

Sorry you’ve been feeling so unwell. Look after yourself and take your time. 🫂🌷

Redcar Thu 19-Jun-25 07:13:13

Good morning from mid Essex, dry and sunny and feels pleasantly cool at the moment but a hot day is forecast. I went for a walk yesterday morning and met some dog walking friends and had a nice chat. I didn’t do a lot after that, apart from watering the plants in pots.
Today I think it will be more of the same. I’m indoors with the blinds closed a lot of the time, as I can’t cope with the sun these days unfortunately!
ash so good that you are able to enjoy Front of House duties again, and I hope you have a tasty afternoon tea today.
marydoll and jax I hope you feel better soon, even more uncomfortable being ill in the heat!
Have the best day possible folks.

grandMattie Thu 19-Jun-25 07:13:16

The above for MD

brook2704 Thu 19-Jun-25 07:26:45

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a beautiful sunny start to the day
I’ve nothing planned for today as I’m on a reserve list for some volunteering. I need to stay local and close to my phone in case I get called in - probably not but you never know!
Hoping you’re feeling better soon Jax, you too kitty
Marydoll ❤️
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

cornergran Thu 19-Jun-25 07:34:29

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset is forecast 30 degrees today.

Enjoyed a couple of hours at the sea front yesterday afternoon. The sea breezes made sitting people watching very comfortable.

Mr C has an appointment at the surgery late morning. We’ll take a picnic further along the coast where we’ll find some shade.

Good to hear from you maryd, it’s not surprising you’re fed up. Hope you, our covid folk and everyone dealing with health challenges feel more comfortable soon

Have the best day you can everyone.

karmalady Thu 19-Jun-25 07:36:24

Good morning from s somerset, hot and more hot

It was lovely to read a message from Marydoll, I hope you get your oomph back very soon. flowers

I binned the dress yesterday after wearing it all day, I loved the style and the colour but the fabric was unbearable to wear, I think it was polyester. I unearthed another fabric last night and cut it out for the same dress plus the top. This time linen/viscose with a nice soft handle and drape, pale cream background. 3.3m remnant in 2 pieces for £16.50. Online from a London fabric shop where I have had some superb bargains

I went to the allotment first thing, I planted 3 squash plants a few days ago so I was to and fro with the watering can, that`s my exercise done. Bindweed is a chancer, I also dug out more of that

I am doing nothing today, just floating around in my caftan. I made 4 over the years and have 2 left, the one I am wearing is viscose crepe, it very cool and comfy.

I am hoping to do some more sewing but it will have to be this evening if it cools down a bit

Have a good day

Grandmabatty Thu 19-Jun-25 07:48:18

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and bright. Marydoll 💐 I hope the covid sufferers recover quickly.
Yesterday I managed to clean the bathroom but not the bath- no bending. In the afternoon my ds visited and brought cake. He also brought me my cordless drill which he borrowed nine years ago! He stayed a chatted all afternoon and left at the back of five. I had salad and baked potato for dinner but something in the salad upset my stomach dreadfully so I had a disturbed night. All good now though.
Today, I have a Tesco delivery this morning. I won't be out in the sun much as I'm still protecting my eyes. Beef olives for dinner. Have a good day all

harrigran Thu 19-Jun-25 07:56:05

Good morning from an already sunny NE.
It was sunny yesterday morning but during the afternoon it clouded over and became very muggy.
In the early evening I dead headed my neighbour's roses, she is away for three weeks.
SIL is coming this morning and we will go shopping.
Thinking of Marydoll and others with health issues.
Always thinking of FGT.

Georgesgran Thu 19-Jun-25 07:57:50

Good morning from Durham. We are forecast a scorcher today. Yesterday turned out far better than I’d expected weather wise too.
My conservatory is fully reglazed and a repair done to the guttering. They worked from the rear of the house, so I wasn’t disturbed at all. They’d barely been gone an hour, when the gardeners turned up, a day early.
Today, I’m going to the bank to pay the conservatory invoice - long story, but it’s easier in branch. I’ll have a quick look in M&S as I’ve a voucher to spend, then home to see to Little Dog before my hair appointment. Since my long term hair stylist retired from Fenwicks, I’m quite happy to go to a local salon, at half the price too.
Hope MD’s improvement continues.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning everyone from yet another bright and sunny 🌞 🌞 day in Northampton. Wall to wall sunshine again.

Took things slowly yesterday; set out to clean the.bathrooms and wash the floors, but ended up re-organising bathroom cupboards and altering the shelf positions in them. I needed to find places to store all the products that were in the M&S summer beauty bag that I bought last week. I now have all my sun/summer creams and potions in one place. A few things got thrown out as well! Washed the towels and bathroom mat. Will do the floors today.

Sainsbury's delivery later this morning and then no further plans for the rest of the day. I finished Pride and Prejudice yesterday evening so need to find a book from my 'to read' shelf.
May have a chilli for dinner tonight.

Hope most grans can take it easy today.

merlotgran Thu 19-Jun-25 08:01:20

Good morning, everyone from a warm and sunny south coast. I’m off to the allotment again and hopefully get there early enough to do the watering before the pressure drops due to demand! We’ll harvest the broad wand but mostly it’s a case of keeping everything going during this hot spell.
If I have the energy I’ll then pop into Tesco for a few bits and bobs.
Hope you all have a good day and those who are poorly soon feel better.

Gingster Thu 19-Jun-25 08:09:09

Good morning all from a very warm Essex.

My friend and I had a lovely time at RHS Hyde Hall , coffee and a scone when we arrived and a late ‘lunch’ of lemon and raspberry pie with ice cream . (I’m trying to reduce my cholesterol levels, - some hope 🙄). It was too warm for anything else.

The roses are really good this year and everything was looking near its best, despite the heat and lack of rain.

Today little pooch has the groomers (the girls will be warm in the parlour) 🥵. I have a pedicure booked and I must go to the bank with our Premium Bond cheques. A good month for both Dh and I. 💷.

After I've done

my errands I’ll spend the afternoon with my book and the fan .
I’m so looking forward to being by the sea next week.🌊.

Marydoll look after yourself and I do hope things improve for you soon. Youve been through enough 🙏. 💐

Keep cool and take care everyone. 🌼

EkwaNimitee Thu 19-Jun-25 08:10:36

Good morning Mick and everyone from warm, sunny Carlisle. The rather cool stiff breeze has gone at last, thank goodness. It actually felt rather cool in the late afternoon and a light sweater went on.
I finished off the routine housework in the morning but was too tired to do much but sit about in the afternoon, I think the body is trying to ward off some infection....so far it seems to be on the winning side.

This morning, I am off into town shortly to have my hair pruned, and will probably treat myself to coffee and an investigation of M&S' food hall. In the afternoon I want to make a start on picking my blackcurrants of which there seem to be a heavy crop.
The berries on my amelanchier are ripening and the blackbirds have noticed. It's not easy for them as the slender branches barely support their weight. They have competition from a pair of pigeons this year.

Glad to see you back Marydoll. The NHS can do wonderful things but sadly not for you so far. I hope you're soon on the go again.

Have the best possible day everyone.
