Good morning from an already hot Bristol.
Wow, 30C yesterday. I just sat around all afternoon, with sunny side windows shut, ditto blinds.
DS took me to DD’s for dinner. It was such a kind thing as I would have been walking for 15 minutes uphill at the hottest part of the day.
Dinner was a success, everyone was at their best.
Iris went to the physiotherapist yesterday. She was very pleased with her progress, though Iris will carry on using her wheelchair at school as she is frightened of the hustle and bustle of unthinking children rushing about.
Last Spanish class today. I shall have no lift today, so may take the bus rather than walk uphill (again; lots of hills here!) to get home.
Hope MD feels better, 👋 💐to*FGT*, and all the best to everyone. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Sorry you had a bad night, Mick. Have a quiet day and drink lots of fluids. The sun has got his hat on yet again going to be even warmer than yesterday. My grass is crispy. I didn’t go to walking group but had a productive “scruff” day. Managed to get in a walk along the lanes after tea and it promises to be a good year for blackberries and sloes!
A volunteer session at school today and then some small preparations for DS coming down tomorrow. I’ll book a table at our local pub for lunch.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Ashcombe Fri 20-Jun-25 05:56:28

Good morning from an overcast Torbay.

I hope you feel better soon, Mick.
That sounded like a lovely family evening, grandMattie with Iris making good progress and with a sensible attitude to her wheelchair use.

We shall be up and out early to catch a train for a weekend in Crewe, mainly to see DGD in her annual dance show. She will be on stage a lot performing in various dance disciplines besides supporting the littlies' class with which she helps throughout the year.

I hope those with ailments are feeling better especially the Covid sufferers. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Morning all from an already warm West Oxfordshire.

I spent most of yesterday indoors with the fan on. 30 degrees is too hot for me. I used to cope swell but not any more.

OH is going target shooting with friends today. I have a felting morning with the WI. Quite a few of us are doing this and there will be tea and cakes too. Actually, I’m not too sure what felting is!

Have a good day and best wishes to the FGT2S and MaryD.

Pantglas2 Fri 20-Jun-25 06:20:20

Good morning all from a quiet North Wales coast where the drama of a fire in the Conwy tunnel yesterday has meant all traffic on the A55 has ceased. We locals know of back roads but it means detours for a lot of trucks on their way to the ferry to Dublin.

Lovely to read that young Iris is improving grandMattie, an impressive character I’d say 👏. Also good to read that Miss MD is still ploughing through with Mr MD in the furrow with her trying his best…😉

Not sure if buses are running to Conwy for a visit to our secret garden for a tipple 🍷 at lunchtime…never mind, a “dry” weekend won’t do me any harm!

Enjoy the lovely weather x

Good morning from hoy s somerset, 30 yesterday, 30 today

I live in a cave during this heat and need a project otherwise it would be boring. I finished my top, this time in the linen/viscose which is perfect, I will slowly make the dress today, both from the vikos pattern

My special yoghurt will be ready soon and I will put that into 6 jars and my veg/fruit delivery is arriving soon. I broke into my mini cold water melon yesterday, what a lovely cold treat that was

Jave a good day

Good morning from Shropshire.A high of 28 today🥵

A quiet morning then collecting my new glasses after lunch. Its the children's sports day today but as I have to avoid direct sunlight due to my medication I won’t be able to watch them.We will go to the school fair later. We are bringing their little dog home with us as they are off on holiday tomorrow.

The images of the tunnel fire were shocking. The traffic situation will be dire.I have read Arriva aren’t running their buses Pantglas but not sure how accurate that is.

Glad to hear Iris continues to make good progress.I hope Marydoll is continuing to improve🙏🏻

Safe travels Ash.

Wishing everyone a good day🌻🦩

Good morning from Malta where the high today is 32°C so not much of a difference between here and UK!😎

Sorry to hear you had a bad night Mick, hope a day at home helps things return to normal.

I’m with the boys, DGS1 is off to speech therapy with his mum, he’s made great progress and is catching up with his chatterbox brother.

I took them to my place yesterday and they were good as gold all day.

Nursery this afternoon after which I shall be watching tennis again.

Wishing you all a good day. Keep cool, drink lots of water and try not to eat hot food. That’s how we survive here in the extreme heat.😄

cornergran Fri 20-Jun-25 06:43:07

Morning Mick, morning all from a hazy corner of Somerset

A very warm 31 degrees yesterdaywas mitigated by sea breezes. We’re promised 30 degrees today, not so sure we’ll notice the difference.

Suitably protected we visited two beaches yesterday, paddled in very warm water and enjoyed being very comfortable in the breeze. Our bungalow gets far too warm but the fan kept us cool in the evening. We’ll stay put today, I hope to get some inside jobs done. Mr C will take it easy, or I hope he will.

Good to hear Iris is progressing so well grandmattie. Take it easy mick.

Have the best day you can everyone.

harrigran Fri 20-Jun-25 06:47:23

Good morning from the NE where it is forecast to reach the high 20s today.
SIL and I went grocery shopping yesterday and after lunch went to a retail outlet and had a look for holiday clothes. I didn't find what I was looking for but did buy some gifts for DIL'S birthday. There was a new Rituals shop and I was able to buy holiday size toiletries.
Today I am out for lunch with my friend, her DH drops us off so she can have a drink.
Have a good day.

Grammaretto Fri 20-Jun-25 07:00:50

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. The temperatures were just right yesterday - mid 20s. I hope for the same today. I'll be working on the till in our community café which is bound to be busy as we have tables outside.
Later I will take more boxes of books to charity.

I'm glad to hear Iris is recovering well gMattie

Have a good day everyone.

luluaugust Fri 20-Jun-25 07:07:38

Good morning from W Kent where the weather is overcast and 18 degrees at present.
I am meeting a friend from my Thursday art group, she doesn’t come anymore due to travel problems and is moving into sheltered accommodation soon, so we need a catch up.
Otherwise food is being delivered as too much for me in this heat.
Best wishes to all

Redcar Fri 20-Jun-25 07:08:46

Good morning from mid Essex, dry warm and sunny again. The forecast is for more of the same. It was very warm yesterday, but a cool breeze developed in the afternoon. The house is very hot, probably due to the insulation, and the big windows that were so popular in the 1960s when this house was built. I went for a walk in the morning, did some ironing and then spent the rest of the day doing nothing!
My granddaughters have an inset day from school today, DD1 has an event at work so will take her daughters to work with her. DD2 and family went off to Disney Paris yesterday evening for the weekend. It’s even hotter there!
Well done to Iris in her recovery, very sensible to use her wheelchair at school, she’d be very vulnerable on crutches. Your evening sounds very pleasant grandmattie
ash I hope you have an uneventful journey to Crewe today, enjoy your DGD’s dance show.
Have the best day possible everyone and keep cool if possible!

Sar53 Fri 20-Jun-25 07:21:08

Good morning from a beautiful bright and sunny day on the Essex coast. Another hot one is forecast.
DD1 has a birthday today. I shall ring her later.
Ironing, club admin and an early walk for me.
Enjoy the day whatever you may get up to. Best wishes to all xx

Harris27 Fri 20-Jun-25 07:28:00

Good morning all. I have woken early after restless night. Nit usually so much heat in the NE. Getting most things done after seeing solicitor yesterday and a page full of instructions feel I can sort myself out better organising brothers funeral. We have been told the earliest date will be July 9 th seems far away. I am awaiting food delivery this morning and a call from a friend. Hopefully I will spend some of the afternoon in the garden just chilling and thinking. Quiet solitude needed at this moment in time. Love to all enjoy the sunshine.

kittylester Fri 20-Jun-25 07:33:02

Good morning all from a sticky North Leicestershire.

Up early as the playroom is being measured for new carpets at 9 am. Then I am off to the butcher's and Waitrose. After that I will need a big sit down. DS2 has said he will pop in after work.

DGS4 and DGD3 have a whole school sponsored walk this morning which has been shortened on account of the heat.

Have the best day possible everyone.

NanKate Fri 20-Jun-25 07:35:47

Good morning Mick and all from a scorching South Bucks. I will stay at home today keeping well away from the sun and watching tennis from Germany and the U.K.

Love your pretty top Karmalady. 👍

NanKate Fri 20-Jun-25 07:36:29

Hope you are feeling better now Kitty.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 20-Jun-25 07:36:52

Good morning from another glorious sunny day in S E Essex.

The 10yr old has just had dippy eggs for breakfast, I have made his packed lunch (they are allowed to picnic on the school field on Fridays if it’s dry)

I am off to the gym, then I am off to for a manicure. School pick up, after DD collects them I am popping into DS4’s to see DiL, GD and GS before they all go to Cornwall tomorrow.

DH and I will probably go to a local Indian restaurant this evening.

Take care Mick

Well done Iris grandMattie

I must say I am enjoying this weather 🌞🌞🌞🌞

GrannySomerset Fri 20-Jun-25 07:37:52

Another sticky and restless night - sadly I shall be glad to see the end of this heatwave, seems ungrateful but I no longer enjoy hot weather. Oldies’ coffee morning and then a quiet day hiding from the sun. Good thing I have plenty to read.

Hope everyone is copjng well with conditions and slowing down appropriately.

EkwaNimitee Fri 20-Jun-25 07:39:11

Good morning Mick and everyone from warm, sunny Carlisle.
Hope you are back to normal as the day goes on Mick.

I had my hair cut and blowdried yesterday then home via M&S food hall. The car park machines were playing up again, whether you paid by cash or card, you only got a ticket for 1 hour. I was relieved, when finally paying cash for 2 hours and getting a ticket for one, I arrived back at the car to find I hadn't been ticketed for an overstay.
After lunch, I picked blackcurrants. They are ripening very unevenly so I couldn't do my usual of cutting a branch off but had to pick individual berries. If I wait till all have ripened the early ripeners have shrivelled or dropped off.
I am freezing them and will make pots of jelly in due course, it's lovely and I don't see it to buy.

Today, I've already started watering, that will probably be the limits of my gardening, it will just be too hot for me later..We reached 25°C yesterday and it's due to be warmer today. I shall be taking it easy indoors, I had a restless night with a kidney infection and have been awake since 4am. Nevertheless, I shall get my ironing done first before I find something interesting to read.

Good to hear Iris is happily progressing. I hope all poorlies are.

Wishing all a good day.

ginny Fri 20-Jun-25 07:42:21

Good morning from a warming N. Bucks another sunny day in prospect.

Thank you to those who commented on my nephew . He is in a spinal hospital in London. t4 and t5 are very weak and t 12 is broken. They are trying to decide if an operation or a brave would be best. I still don’t know how it happened but I expect he had a fall.
I’m off to a nail appointment in an hour and then a day of bits and pieces at home.
I may call in to see DGS3 if I finish a project he asked me to do for him.

Best wishes to all with troubles or illness. A good day wished for all.

Gingster Fri 20-Jun-25 07:43:01

Good morning all and it’s very still here in Essex.

Yesterday cooled down by early evening with a lovely breeze.

I seemed to be in and out of the car all day yesterday, groomers, pharmacy, small shop, pedicure, brownies drop off and then pick up. All short journeys but sooo hot. I do miss Dh taking some of the ‘strain’. He did get the washing in though! ☺️.

Today I have a friend coming to help us do our POA, online. She’s done it for several others so knows what she’s doing (unlike us) 😬.

If it doesn’t take too long, we’ll go to the pub to meet our Friday friends.

Safe journey Ash
Hope today finds an improvement Marydoll and , Mick (I would give the fish and chips a miss Mick). A light diet is required. 🥺.

Take care everyone and keep cool. 🌼
