Good morning from a bright Bristol.
We had a tiny sprinkling of rain overnight. Fortunately, the strong wind has died down!
A pleasant evening at DD’s, DGD was at a gig at the Bristol Beacon and SiL is at Glastonbury helping in the medical area, triaging patients.
Today is busy, as I’m taking DS to the solicitor to make a will, then he’s sleeping here as we leave for Lithuania at 0500 tomorrow, for a few days away.
I made a cushion cover as little present for our retiring manager. I shan’t be here on Monday, her last day.
I hope you all have a pleasant day. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning, it’s damp here on the hillside in south Glos, the sky is clearing slowly.
Usual housework stuff yesterday, the washing dried very quickly because it was so windy, really gusty at times.
I did do some chopping back in the garden, one exuberant plant in particular was overwhelming a number of others. I thought it was a phlox but my white versions aren’t flowering yet so I need to have a thank as to what it is! The poor aubretia underneath was being smothered; I might have to move the brute.

Sewing group in the afternoon, only four of us but very pleasant with lots of chatter and tea.
We caught up on the latest news about our surgery, it’s one of five in the practice and the partners are considering closing it. The two GPs only work 1.5 days a week and want to reduce their hours further. It’s preposterous, the next surgery is 5 miles away, there’s no public transport, the local LINK service is struggling to get volunteer drivers and it seems like the partners couldn’t care less. We’re already fundraising for vital equipment.
Moving practices isn’t an option, all the local-ish ones have closed their lists.

I have art group this morning, we’re doing negative painting which is something I struggle with so I’m looking forward to trying again.

I will take tiddler out shortly, I do enjoy the very early walks when it’s cool and peaceful.
I hope today goes well for you all 🌹

Have a lovely time in Lithuanian grandMattie!

Bellasnana Fri 27-Jun-25 05:45:52

Good morning from Malta where it’s already 26°C and set to be another scorcher.

Had a long day with the boys as DD3 sprang it on me that she was having her hair done with highlights after work. She had arranged for her DH to come home earlier but the boys refused to let me go home until Mummy got back.

They certainly know how to tug at my heartstrings.😂

Can’t believe it’s Friday again, time seems to go much too fast.

The FGT’s are on my mind a lot. Does anyone know how they are doing and when we might have her back with us? Soon I hope.🙏🏻

Time for me to go and watch the boys. Only Monday and Tuesday and then that’s my daily childcare over. Of course there will be plenty more days when I will have them but they start school in September so our days together will be fewer.

Wishing you all a good day and safe travels tomorrow Grandmattie.☀️

Good morning from a grey midlands. Warm sunny day promised. Rained during the night.
Enjoy your trip GM.
New plants to put into the garden after a good long walk.
Mental health not too bad lately but that can change over a sixpence!
Hugs to all suffering in one way or another.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a damp morning in Cheshire. The clouds are moving fast from the west but everywhere is calm after yesterday's strong wind.

I have been away for a few days. Nothing exciting but a change is as good as a rest. The garden needs some attention today and I will get on with a painting I feel inspired to finish.

I will catch up on everyone's news as the morning goes on. Enjoy your day. Special thoughts for those with worries. flowers

Grammaretto Fri 27-Jun-25 06:13:47

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's forecast dry.
I'm going to DGC school prize-giving followed by lunch out.

I'm doing my food hygiene certificate on-line so I am legally allowed to serve the public. My last one is out of
date.

Never a dull moment for grandMatte Enjoy your holiday.
Such a pretty cushion cover too.

Hoping everyone has a good day. Special wishes for those with sadness.

Pantglas2 Fri 27-Jun-25 06:22:00

Good morning Mick and all from a dry at 5he moment north Wales, I suspect it’s not going to last! It was positively cold last night as my friend and I left Bingo empty handed…😠

Lithuania….how marvellous grandMattie! Love that cushion cover too! You’ll always have your child caring memories Bellasnana and just as importantly, so will they 🥰

Food shopping for me today with a sneaky detour to TKMaxx 😇 as Mr PG has far too many important things to do 🤷‍♀️

Have a Good Friday everyone x

Good morning from a balmy Cornwall. Yesterday I was on my allotment all day and the heat was bearable which helped as I was lugging concrete blocks around to make a low wall. I discovered a robin going in and out of my greenhouse, shredding some fleece to use in his nest. Cheeky.

Today I'm off to a library in another town to dismantle Lego models. They hold Lego-building workshops every Saturday and need someone to take apart the previous week's creations and sort into colours. Not your average volunteering job but one I'll enjoy! After that I'm seeing my arty daughter-in-law for lunch and a good old natter.

Susan56 Fri 27-Jun-25 06:24:10

Good morning from Shropshire.A warm day forecast.

I had a lovely afternoon chatting with my friend.I hadn’t gone back in the house after waving her off when another friend arrived so four hours chatting in all! Both agreed with DH and I about the way forward medication wise which was a big help although ultimately it will be my decision.

Today we are going to see mum.We will then meet my younger brother for lunch to discuss a few things re mum.He probably won’t help much in a practical way🙄but at least will be a support when my elder brother who does nothing queries everything we decide🤦🏼‍♀️

Safe travels grandMattie and have a lovely holiday with your son.

Bellasnana after nine years of childcare when H went to school in September we thought that was it but we still do a couple of days school pick up and a sleepover most weeks!
Hope Babydoll was a good girl yesterday Marydoll.

Roses a worry re your GP surgery.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻

Susan56 Fri 27-Jun-25 06:26:57

Good hearing the weather forecasts from everyone. We are off to Cheshire today and DD1 and family in Cornwall so know what to expect!

cornergran Fri 27-Jun-25 06:32:09

Morning Mick, morning All. Light cloud over our corner of Somerset. Looks damp out there.

Prom preparations went wonderfully well yesterday, the hair just as our granddaughter wanted it. She looked both elegant and beautiful as we waved her off, not that I’m biased you understand smile. An emotional day all round.

Volunteering this morning, looking forward to that, the afternoon will unfold as it chooses to.

That is an early start grandmattie, enjoy your trip. One of ours visits regularly for his work and is a big fan of the country.

That’s a dreadful situation with your surgery roses. Ours is also part of a large (we think overly large) group practice with some patient services located rurally 9 miles away in a central hub. There is no bus service from here or several other areas it serves. So short sighted .

Thinking of all with worries of any kind. Hope Friday is gentle with us all.

Grandmabatty Fri 27-Jun-25 06:38:22

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and wet. It was showery yesterday morning but dried up in the afternoon. Susan we have very similar brothers! GrandMattie a lovely cushion cover. Enjoy your trip to Lithuania. Bellasnana the boys will fondly remember this time with you.
Yesterday I decided to see if I could drive ok and went to Aldi for a few necessities. It was fine. Everything is very bright! I also spent a lot of time on the cross stitch kit. Dd sent photos of dgs2 after his nursery festival. It was a festival of face painting, nail paint and glitter and he made full use of the lot! She then sent a photo of them both sound asleep in the car on their way home from their grandparents. Those boys are ready for a break from school.
Today dd is picking me up and we're going to the local garden centre for new sandals for me. They have Pavers and Skechers and I need comfy footwear. We'll probably have a coffee too. Then the boys finish up at lunchtime for the summer. This afternoon I'll get on with the cross stitch. Dinner will be pie and beans. Very ordinary but enjoyable. Have a good day all

Good morning from another warm day here in S E Essex.

I have to wake the 10yr old soon, to get him to school for 8am.
He must have been tired as he asked to go to bed at 8.30pm last night…

The gym first thing, coffee and catch up afterwards. DH and I are going to a local `Malaysian restaurant for dinner.

Safe journey and enjoy Lithuania gM

brook2704 Fri 27-Jun-25 06:52:12

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve a dry bright start to the day, light grey clouds around
Beautiful cushion gMattie and enjoy the holiday with your DS
Hope you manage to keep the surgery open Roses
A quick class at the gym this morning and then I’m looking forward to a catch up with a friend this afternoon, we see each other regularly but we’ve always lots to chat about.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Greyduster Fri 27-Jun-25 06:52:47

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Overcast and cool in South Yorkshire. That will do nicely! Yesterday’s walking group was lovely. I’ve never know us cover so many interesting topics of conversation. It was so cool and still in the woods, but all the streams have completely dried up and the pond is very low. We are desperate for proper rain. I came home via the garden centre and finally found my trailing geraniums - and they were “reduced to clear”!
This afternoon is school volunteering. Hopefully I shall walk.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Ashcombe Fri 27-Jun-25 06:55:53

Good morning from a calm, fairly sunny Torbay.

The live stream of my cousin's funeral yesterday enabled me to be part of the proceedings and it was a beautiful service with heartfelt eulogies delivered by his eldest son and an Army colleague who was also a colonel.

Wishing everyone a good day and safe journeys to those who are travelling. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

harrigran Fri 27-Jun-25 07:03:59

Good morning from a grey, cloudy NE.
Yesterday it was too windy to be outside so I just pottered around the house.
Still windy at bedtime so did not put the wheelie bin out, need to do that now.
My sister was out for dinner last night when she realised she had a missed call from the hospital, she thought her investigations were over and done with.
My elder sister is travelling to the UK today via two airports in Germany, this is the one that broke her neck last December.
DD is also travelling to the UK today but she is travelling by Eurostar, she will be here in time to collect her aunt from the airport and take her out to dinner.
Thoughts are with poorly people.

Redcar Fri 27-Jun-25 07:24:09

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s bright with some cloud about and there’s a cool breeze coming through the window. Damp outside so obviously some rain in the night.
After my usual walk yesterday morning I concentrated on housework and dusted and vacuumed most rooms. Just the dining room to do, but it’s very cluttered so not very easy to clean.
I’m having my hair cut and coloured this afternoon, so must clean the kitchen ready for the hairdresser. I need to water the tomato plants and tie them up too, when I was cutting back the floppy rose bush I found quite a large fuchsia underneath it. I hadn’t realised how big the rose had become so it definitely needs pruning properly later in the year.
bellasnana the end of an era for you, but no doubt you’ll still be involved with your DGSs in the future. Lovely memories for you all.
grandmabatty I hope you’re successful in finding some comfortable sandals. corner I hope your DGD enjoyed her prom last night! grandmattie enjoy your holiday in Lithuania!
Thoughts as ever with those who are struggling in any way. Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from a hot s somerset and the heat is building, again

GM enjoy your holiday, I look forward to reading about your adventure

I was up with the birds today, at 4, I wanted to do all the `heat-producing` cooking for the week, so I did and the freezer is now on quick freeze for the new offerings. I had my 2 old pressure cookers working and two pans plus my rice cooker and egg cooker. I now have lots of ready foods for the freezer and for salads, for all week. and beyond. I even picked a few days worth of salad leaves as they get limp in the heat. All washed and in the fridge now.

My organic delivery was in my porch at 6am, all quickly put away. Roomba is doing a deep clean and all I have left to do is give the floor a 5 minute wash and be a lady of leisure for the rest of the day

I do have sewing I want to do, but not until the sun moves off the sewing room window, after 1pm. The blinds and shutters are both shut but the heat still squeezes in

Last night I decided to get the pattern sorted for my new straight skirt. I use forget me not the sabrina pattern. Made that design years ago and to me it was a revelation, that I could make a straight skirt that fitted me well. At that time I made the midi fit, alas the skirt waist became too small, while the hips became too loose. Sigh, my shape has changed to `straight` my waist is not as defined, not any more.

I did the printing and sticking of 33 A4 pattern sheets, I only needed to print my size and one size above to do a bit of grading out. I have cut this out in calico and have pinned it, ready to do a quick sew with long stitches. Straight profile has one dart and midi profile had two. There is good seam allowance at the sides and back so I can tweak. Really tricky by myself, hit and miss but I manage

I am glad I don`t have an amount of veg at my allotment, my soil there is not good ie needs lots of organic matter to keep moisture in. The few plants up there will survive if I water at the roots every few days. Even the clay underneath is almost like rock. I will do the deed tomorrow around 5am, involves lots of walking to and fro the water trough

Not like me but I did get some big bottles of still water in, I do think we are on the way to a severe drought.

Have a good day

grandMattie Fri 27-Jun-25 07:28:46

This made me laugh. 😂😂😂. (Although, probably Pimm’s would be more appropriate)

luluaugust Fri 27-Jun-25 07:43:57

EkwaNimitee Fri 27-Jun-25 07:54:33

Good morning Mick and all from a rather grey Carlisle.

Yesterday I had to nip into town early as a prescription was now ready, I had already run out of the pills. It all seems to take longer these days. I avoided M&S food hall as I had a Tesco delivery later in the morning.
I got out in the garden in the afternoon and gave the golden privet a good chopping back, it had grown vigorously and was out of scale with everything around it. Next was a pyracantha and then a little deadheading. After that, coffee time! I have managed, largely, to give up cakery Monday to Friday, now it's a banana and nuts. I also manage to achieve my target of 6000 steps per day most days. Time for a new target, 7000! My halo is gleaming at the moment...

Today, I await the plumber to give me a verdict on my radiators. At least two will need replacing but can I rescue the rest which are basically poor paintwork jobs?
More gardening later hopefully, one more plant to go in but it will need a biggish hole hacking into the clayey soil.

Have a good day everyone!

NannyJan53 Fri 27-Jun-25 07:55:36

Good morning from a warm but cloudy Black Country.

Just washing yesterday, then pop to the shops.

Had to take MrJ to Doctors yesterday. He woke up and the gout in his left foot had flared again overnight! All they did was give him more tablets. This has been going on for almost a year now...off and on. Had a diet sheet, so know foods to avoid. Another blood test today, but not sure what else can be done?

Enjoy Lithuania gM. We visited Vilnius about 7 years ago. I loved it and would like to go back.

Wishing you all the best day possible.
