Good morning from a dull, breezy and dampish Torbay.

Last night we enjoyed a Social Evening at our theatre with half price drinks and complimentary food: sausages, roast potatoes and pickled eggs!

Today is our church's Summer Fayre in the park opposite my flat. The church warden has allocated to me a job that I can do whilst seated: collecting the money for the barbecued food which I’ve done before.

I hope for news of the FGT’s soon.

Happy weekend, everyone! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning from Malta where it’s very hot and sunny.

No plans for the day yet but will get up and do some cleaning and laundry eventually. Dog could do with a wash as well.

Had a good morning with the boys yesterday after which I had my weekly wash and blow dry, then did a bit of food shopping.

There was a member of staff encouraging us to use the self checkout which I don’t like but gave it a go. It didn’t convince me and seemed a lot more hassle. I won’t be using it again!

Hope you all have a good weekend.☀️

RosesandLilac Sat 28-Jun-25 06:00:15

Good morning! A cloudy start here in south Glos, a bit muggy too at 19° but I slept well.
A quiet day today, like most of my days, which suits me very nicely. I want to do more of my botanical drawing, I’m following an online class and loving it. I have everything set up in my Shed and tiddler will join me. She’s my little shadow 😍
We will walk the dogs shortly, before it gets too hot then they’ll spend the day snoozing.
Salad for dinner, probably with salmon and new potatoes, simple and delicious.
I hope you have a lovely weekend 🌹

Good morning Mick, morning all from soggy South Lanarkshire. It’s tipping down again.

DS buys and occasionally sells vinyl records and as he was working yesterday, he enlisted my help to purchase a limited edition from a music store in Japan. These sought after albums sell out minutes or even seconds after being put up for sale on the site so my heart was thumping as I kept refreshing the page at the given time. Thankfully I managed to buy one so DS is a happy bunny.

Today we are going over to DD’s empty house to bring in the bins and make sure the snake is okay. They are having a lovely time on holiday.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Sallyforth Sat 28-Jun-25 06:31:17

Good morning Mick and everyone from an overcast morning in Cheshire. Enjoy your trip out Mick, glad you're doing well. Checking on a snake is not something I could do baubles. Rather you than me.

Bought a new iphone yesterday and it's going to take me a while to fathom what's what. I need an eight year old to sort it for me. I bought it because the ENT consultant says that I can have a hearing aid which connects to wi fi and will play sounds to help lessen my tinnitus. That's the theory anyway.

There is much to do in the garden, so that's where I'll be most of the day. Enjoy your day whatever you may be doing. Kind thoughts to all, especially anyone with worries. flowers

Good morning from Bristol airport! Eating a very expensive bacon buttie for breakfast.
I’ve been up since 0330 and left the house a big later.
Done security, been thoroughly felt, suitcase searched for drugs, as ever, and now waiting for the flight.
Hope everyone has a good weekend. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Sallyforth Sat 28-Jun-25 06:42:06

Hilarious grandMattie. You win the prize for making me LOL this morning. Enjoy your holiday.

Mizuna Sat 28-Jun-25 06:43:10

Good morning from a wonderfully drizzly Cornwall. Yesterday was fun at my new library volunteering job of huge responsibility 😁 dismantling Lego models, alongside a retired biker who embroiders Jimi Hendrix portraits on his denim jackets, so we talked motorbikes and sewing ha ha.

A delicious chicken stew lunch at my daughter-in-law's followed, plus a heartening conversation about my 15-year-old grandson, for whom we've been trying to get a diagnosis of autism, as the dear, gentle lad is missing so much school. His doctor has finally agreed that his parents can go elsewhere in the UK for a diagnosis (it would take three years in Cornwall), so they'll be taking him to Kent at some point. A great step forward.

Today I'll venture to our usual allotments community shed coffee morning and sample home-made cake and then potter on my plot in the drizzle. The pic is watercress I'm growing in bowls of water in my greenhouse. This is the second year I've tried it and it's head-blowing-off delicious. My mizuna is growing well too, yippee.

Travel well grandMattie. 🙋‍♀️

Good morning everyone, going to continue with the house decluttering today while I'm on a roll.
Tackled the kitchen worksurfaces on Wednesday and the room looks twice the size.

I've swapped cars with DS for the time being as his has been a bit unreliable recently and he needs his car for work. I've told him to take good care of my trusty little Suzuki, known as Susie.

Yikes, a snake, Baubles! I'm not keen on things that can get about without legs, just doesn't seem natural somehow.
Happy travels, GrandMattie.

Have a good day everyone. 🌻

Good morning from a sunny N Norfolk. A hot night with a rattling hotel window, not ideal before a busy day visiting a friend with a large railway in his garden. Hope we are up to it. DB will be joining us.
Happy holiday gB
Best wishes to all

Good morning from a bright but cloudy mid Essex. Not sure what the weather will do today but it will be warm. I didn’t go out yesterday, but did all my exercises twice instead. Cleaned the kitchen and cleared out one of the drawers. I had my hair cut and coloured in the afternoon.
I won’t see my DDs today, one is working this afternoon and the other is busy taking her DDs to cricket and other classes. I have plenty to keep me busy here, depending on how hot it is!
mizuna your voluntary job sounds good, especially with someone interesting to talk to. Enjoy pottering on your allotment and the coffee morning.
sallyforth good luck in sorting out your new phone, even one of my DDs is struggling to get to grips with her new phone and she’s good at technology! Mine does strange things especially after updates!
Have the best day possible everyone, thinking of those struggling for any reason.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 28-Jun-25 07:22:58

Good morning from a warm S E Essex, a quick local shop first thing.

The Imp is being dropped here mid afternoon , he is extremely excited as he is having a sleepover here without his brother. No doubt he will want to swim and splash along with having a BBQ (he has requested chicken wings and cous cous)

Enjoy your day folks 🙋‍♀️

Gingster Sat 28-Jun-25 07:23:08

Good morning all and it’s bright and sunny with a little cloud here on the Suffolk coast.

We’ve had a bad night and we’re both up early. I like my quiet couple of hours first thing with a cup of tea, little pooch snoozing and reading all the news. Dh is usually asleep until 9.

He’s wandered into the garden to have his cuppa ,looking out to sea, to leave me in peace. 😉

I’m still stripping down the garden furniture inch by inch. The table top looks quite good ‘shabby chic’, and I’ve started on one chair 😤. Dh does a little as he passes by. .

GM happy holidays.Lithuania is beautiful!
I hope your dgs gets a diagnosis soon. 🙏. Mizuna.
Enjoy the Summer Fayre Ash.
Baubles well done on your purchase 👍.

Enjoy the day as best you can. 🌼

Good morning from Shropshire.Another warm day forecast with a moderate breeze.

A mixed day with mum which left us feeling sad.My brother didn’t make our meeting so well try again next week🙄

Today DD1 and family travel home from Cornwall. They should arrive here in time for their evening meal then will take little dog home. She has been no trouble. We took her to the care home yesterday and DH spent a couple of hours taking her round to see the residents who loved her. They have asked if we will take her again.

Safe travels grandMattie.Glad we just had the dog and not a snake baubles!

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻

Good Morning from a much
brighter but very windy Durham. Blue sky and sunny, which makes a change after a few dull, although warm days.
I haven’t any plans for today, other than a bit of admin, which suits me fine.
Safe journey to our travellers.

Best wishes to all. X

brook2704 Sat 28-Jun-25 07:36:00

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s warm, windy and cloudy
Well done with the purchase for your DS Baubles hope the snake is happy too!
We’ve a quiet weekend ahead, all 3 of my AC are away on holiday just now so there’s no visits, calls or demands on our time. I think we’ll go out for coffee this morning, nip to M&S food for a weekend treat and then enjoy the garden this afternoon
Mizuna hoping your DS can be seen before too long
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

cornergran Sat 28-Jun-25 08:05:24

Morning Mick, morning All from a drizzly corner of Somerset.

Some dust removal this morning before sausage baps and a booked appointment at a ‘posh’ car wash as directed by no 2 son who recently sorted the paintwork out. If the drizzle clears we’ll have a look at the sea front.

My major challenge of the day is to persuade Mr C to take some paracetamol. He’s developed plantar fasciitis, paracetamol might help - if he’d take them. Wretched man sees painkillers as some sort of weakness.

Commiserations sallyforth, I truly need a new iPad but can’t face the inevitable changeover hassle. Family say it’s easy, it might be for them, somehow it hasn’t been for me in the past. .

Safe landings grandmattie. That was an early start.

Have the best day you can everyone.

ginny Sat 28-Jun-25 08:06:21

Good morning from Pembrokeshire. It is dull, drizzling and a dizzy high of 19 expected today ! Hopefully there will be some improvement.
The cottage is in a tiny hamlet, very comfortable and well equipped. The owners provided a lovely welcoming pack of Welsh products.
Not sure what we shall do today. Nothing too far away , to give DH a rest from driving.
Wishing all a good day and anyone who doesn’t want the warm weather is welcome to send it this way.

Grandmabatty Sat 28-Jun-25 08:06:52

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 16° and cloudy. Susan it's a difficult time for you, up and down with visits. I remember it well. Baubles I'm actually jealous! I like snakes and don't mind holding them. Mizuna I think your volunteer work sounds tremendous fun. GrandMattie I'm another who laughed out loud at your pre flight experience. I hope you are well on your way.
Yesterday I got all of the washing done with the exception of the bedding. It'll get done today. Dd picked me up and we went to the local garden centre which has a lovely shoe shop. She acted as my personal shopper and I'm now the owner of two new pairs of sandals and an eye wateringly expensive pair of trainers.
Today I'll go to Aldi for food. It's back to childcare next week so I need to stock up. I'll strip the bed and wash the sheets, duvet cover etc and clean the bathroom etc. no visitors planned for today. Chicken fajitas for dinner. Enjoy your day all

Greyduster Sat 28-Jun-25 08:08:55

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a very gusty South Yorkshire. DD is running the 25k Round Sheffield Run this morning - I don’t think this wind will help them. I had a broken night with a flare up of pain in two of my toes. I think it’s arthritis. At two o’clock I was drinking Ovaltine, watching Joanna Lumley being Joanna Lumley in darkest Africa. This morning there is a Peak District Artisan’s exhibition at Renishaw Hall, which is just down the road from me, so I shall go along and have a look. Giles Davis is exhibiting some of his collage work and Jill Ray, who makes beautiful digital landscapes, will also be there. The rest of my day will be spent making a curry for tomorrow.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 28-Jun-25 08:12:13

Morning all from what promises to be a hot West Oxfordshire.

I have absolutely nothing planned for today. I shall just laze around, read the papers, start a new book and simply vegetate!

Have a good day everyone and I hope all is well with the FGT2S.

Marydoll Sat 28-Jun-25 08:14:21

Good morning all from yet another wet day in Glasgow, where it is 16°C.

GM, breakfast at the airport was always a treat when we went to Rome.
I was always apprehensive, when travelling, due to the multiple medication, including CDs, I was carrying.
We were flying home from New York and I was more apprehensive than usual. The queues were enormous and I asked an intimidating customs agent, which queue I should go in, to declare the meds. He looked at my boarding card, smiled and waved me through an empty channel!! 🤣
Have a safe journey.

DH had a quiet seventy fifth birthday, just as he had requested. He was quite subdued and said he had been thinking of his father's seventy fifth. They were very close (as was I) and still misses him.

Mr MD is not interested in material possessions unlike his shallow wife and present buying is a nightmare.
An all singing, all dancing coffee machine was my solution. He loves it, as do my children.🤣
Dollie and he had a video call from Malta and he received a video of Babydoll singing Happy Birthday to him. It made his day. 😍

My day was not as restful, it did not go as planned. Are you surprised?.
I popped into church for five minutes to organise the key for the let today.
Unexpectedly, standing in the sacristy was an African priest, whom we had not been informed was coming. The duty sacristan was mouthing questions as to what was going on. I had absolutely no idea, still don't.

The required key was nowhere to be found and neither were the spares.😱
I searched the presbytery to no avail. The curate is rather messy and with the P.P not being there to keep him line, it was not an easy task.
Then I had the bright idea of checking the locked post box, but couldn't get the front door open. Through the glass I could see keys dangling. To get them, I had to go back through the church and walk round to the house,
I realised they were the curate's and phoned him. No response. Later, I received a text nessage, saying he had just arrived in Lourdes and had no idea, that he had left them in the door!!
Later again, he messaged me to say that he would be locked out, when he arrives back on Thursday and could I come and let him in. 🤣
I agreed, but only if he prayed for me at Lourdes, I need a miracle.😪

Our trainee sacristan has taken over the weekly bulletin, so I thought I would check that he had been left the relevant information.
He had not! 😡
Consequently, I had to leave post it stickers all over the monitor. He phoned me later to thank me, but unfortunately could not read my writing.🤣

I was just about to start making DH's panettone bread and butter pudding, when the trainee sacristan phoned me again. He had been working in the office, when he heard a constant ringing of the door bell. An elderly man was standing on the doorstep, looking annoyed. The young sacristan, recognised him as an retired priest of the Diocese. He said he was supposed to be saying Mass at 4pm, but couldn't do it. ???? He was obviously confused. We didn't have Mass planned.
The sacristan told him, that he thought it was tomorrow's Mass, he was covering, however he wasn't convinced. His plan was to contact the Diocese.

I was so concerned that we would have no priest for the Vigil tonight, that I phoned the Bishop's secretary. However, I couldn't get her. Remembering that the priest had retired to a village not far away, I phoned that church, but still no response.
Finally, I managed to get hold of a priest, who knew his mobile number. Success!
We now have cover for today! I hope!
As you can imagine, I will be have strong words with the P.P and curate, when they return.😡

The bread and butter pudding was finally made, we had just finished dinner, when DD and SIL appeared. SIL had brought his laptop to try and source the problem with my P C
There is friendly rivalry between DS2 a software engineer and SIL a network engineer. SIL, said he and DD didn't agree with DS' diagnosis. An hour later, I had a working PC. Sweet joy!!
My life will be less stressful.
I am plucking up courage to tell DS, that he had misdiagnosed and I do not need a new mother board.
SIL was so smug, at getting one over DS.🤣

Today, we are off to see Restless Natives in the theatre, a gift from DD & SIL, followed by dinner in our favourite Italian restaurant. I won't eat much, but they encourage you to take leftovers away
DD told me off yesterday for losing so much weight. It is not as if it is deliberate! 😌

First of all this morning, I need to get the bulletin out and update the website. Our Mass times have changed and we are sure to have people turning up at the wrong time.

I have probably bored you witless, with my meandering and rambling drivel. 🤣

I wish you all as pleasant a day as possible and hugs for all, who are struggling. 💕

Morning from an overcast humid S Hants, enjoy Lithuanian gMattie safe journey.
Watercress Mizuna lovely; that’s tough for your grandson and family, I hope he’s seen soon.
Yesterday a small wash quickly dried as it was windy, Tesco delivered, pub visited for a catch up and an easy quiche dinner.
Today the paper and I'm not sure what else yet.
Enjoy your day all

Good morning from an already warm Essex coast.
DH is going out for fresh croissants shortly.
I have a doctor's appointment at 10.45, then we need to do some food shopping.
We will probably go for a drink at a local pub late this afternoon before we watch the U21's football final this evening.
Enjoy the day everyone and stay safe in the heat, best wishes to all xx
