Is intolerance getting worse on GN?

I am horrified to have been told, in the last couple of days, that Rod Stewart's music should not be listened to because he supports reform and to stop watching Eastenders and read a library book.

Well, I watched Rod Stewart and am still an SDP supporter - if they only still existed!

And, the library in our village is a very successfully run community library which i helped transition from Council control -between watching episodes of Eastenders.

For goodness sake - get a grip some of you!

And either way, I agree that it should be reported.

Beginning to sound like the sodding mafia on here. Sometimes I wonder why I bother with it.

I know some threads get a bit heated but I don't forget all the supportive threads on here and how helpful GNs can be if someone is in need.

I think there should be a tick box at the end of every post on GN.
So did you find the above post ......

Acceptable
Sarcastic
Hypocritical
Bullying
Aggressive
Passive aggressive
Bewildering
Humorous
Completely bonkers etc. etc.

I would put ๐Ÿ‘ but apparently that's seen as passive aggressive now. The rules keep changing, can't keep up.

Claremont, do those sinister PMs imply that the sender has indentified who you are โ€œin real lifeโ€, do you think? They should be reported, but itโ€™s hard to see what effect that would have, other than blocking contact on here.

Perhaps Iโ€™ve got the wrong end of the stick though.

I've just had a ๐Ÿ’ก moment! It could mean, " I know who you are" as a previous poster with a different name?
If not, just ignore me. I had too much at lunch, but when in France......... ๐Ÿท ๐Ÿท

Especially if youโ€™re GEN Z, although some of those havenโ€™t heard theyโ€™re supposed to be offended by ๐Ÿ‘.

Allira Sun 06-Jul-25 14:24:23

Sinister or, as escaped says a ๐Ÿ’ก moment and saying hello again?

I haven't had a ๐Ÿท yet but excuse me if I'm wrong.

(Goes to look up which age group Gen Z is!)

We made the rules!
They can ignore them but they can't just come along and change them. Young whippersnappers!!

I'll ask the DGC.

escaped Sun 06-Jul-25 14:33:49

Now, I'll have you know that whippersnapper is offensive and disrespectful. It snacks of ageism. You're being very condescending. ๐Ÿ˜‚

DGC and also nieces and nephews supplied me with the information that they had heard about it/not heard about it.
I bet thereโ€™s been a survey with statistics on ๐Ÿ‘, and we all know about statistics.

Gen Z is talked about a lot in our family. 5 of my GCs are in it. I often send ๐Ÿ‘ to them in my posts but they're still speaking to me.

Ditto!
Young whippersnappers that they are!

What does that mean anyway?
Oh, it's rude! I won't use it again.

No, no, I was publically 'outed' with my previous names long before. I do wish I'd never gave in to advice to change my name- and kept my original one. Jura.

This is very different.

Allira Sun 06-Jul-25 18:36:27

You could go back to that if you liked it?

I reported a post of yours , Allira, for misrepresentation.

Oh!! What did I say? What did I misrepresent?
๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Absolutely nothing. Donโ€™t let it worry your pretty little head ๐Ÿ˜‚

Probably the most passive-agressive (or is it outwardly agressive), is receiving PMs with very personal information, never divulged on GN, which basically and cowardly mean 'watch it, I know who you are'.

Wow Claremont, that should be reported.

This is very different.

If it is the same person, or couple of people, I think it might be considered stalking.

In which case it might be criminal - although I am unsure about SM law, but Iโ€™m sure GN know.

kittylester Sun 06-Jul-25 20:41:22

Surely, as we have meet ups, it's not unusual for someone to know where another person lives.

MayBee70 Sun 06-Jul-25 20:44:47

But weโ€™re careful not to disclose that publicly unless the poster has done so themselves.

Or, if people have posted a lot of information about themselves, even if they change their name, they perhaps make it obvious who they were when they return?

Is this this getting out of proportion?
