Good morning from Malta where it is going to ‘feel like’ 41°C today.

Thank you for your kind wishes for myself and the dog. I did a Covid test which was negative so I guess it’s just another stinking cold.

The dog is not well at all. I had trouble giving him his pills as he doesn’t want to eat at all, even his favourite peanut butter which is how I usually hide his tablets.

I will have to call the vet later as I just don’t know what to do for the poor dog.😞

I walked to the village to collect my parcel, stopped for a quick coffee, it was so hot and not much shade even though I went early.

Had my hair cut and called in to see the boys. DGS2 has got croup so is on steroids again. He has inherited his mum’s weak chest unfortunately. Nevertheless, he was doing a great job helping to make banana cake with his mum.

Watched tennis all afternoon and will do the same today.

I need to do some ironing and cleaning this morning if I can summon up the energy.

Wishing a good day to you all.☀️

Good morning from yet another dry day in Bristol. We just might have a teeny bit of rain.
Enjoy the bustle in town today, Mick.
I had a horrible surprise yesterday afternoon at the residents’ meeting. Being one of the most able bodied, I was asked to take our 100 yo lady to the meeting, in her ungainly wheelchair. I duly obliged only to find the room packed to the gunwales, everyone waiting for our arrival. I made sure the lady was within hearing of the group, in a comfy place, etc.
Once done, I asked one of the “stirrers” to start the meeting, “Oh, but you’re the chairman, Mattie!”, came the chorus of voices. “What??? Why?” “Because”, came the reply,”because you’re the one who put the note through our letter boxes inviting us to the meeting!” So I duly complied.
Naturally, a lot of the chat was about the shortcomings of the management, Anchor sheltered homes, but on the whole I managed to keep the talk on the replacement manager, resident or not etc. one person was keeping notes, and once collated, I shall give every resident a copy and we can “assault” the area manager with our demands/requirements/preferences at the meeting next Wednesday. I hope he’s wearing his tin hat.
Today, I’m hosting the church coffee morning and want to make myself a denim pinafore dress. I’ve got a pattern but don’t like the back. I’m not sufficiently competent to alter it, but have a good basic pattern which I can probably fiddle with. Or not!
Have a good day all. 👋 to FGTs, MD and anyone else needing a virtual hug. 🤗

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a damp, overcast South Yorkshire. It was supposed to rain through the night - I hope the level in the water butt will confirm that. Yesterday when I came home from school I was putting the finishing touches to an end of term report I had been writing on my iPad for a week on and off. Then, I managed to delete it! I have no idea how. It just disappeared. All my efforts to recover it have failed and so I’ve had to begin again. It will teach me a lesson to save as I go. Well, it will be something to keep me busy this weekend as I have nothing particular to do. DD may come over later for something to eat.
Bellasnana I’m sad for you that your lovely dog is so poorly💐.
Have the best day you can, folks.

brook2704 Sat 05-Jul-25 06:27:15

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve a damp grey start to the day
Enjoy the activities in your town Mick
Oh bellas your poor dog, I hope the vet can sort him out and he’s much better soon
I’m up early as we’re getting the train down to Manchester soon, meeting up with DHs sons and families and then off for a weeks holiday to Tenerife tomorrow. Yesterday was busy as I’m one of those people who have to clean everywhere before going away, it’s just one of those things I do. Everywhere is sparkling now!
That’s frustrating greyduster hope you can rewrite it easily
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care whatever the day brings💐

karmalady Sat 05-Jul-25 06:37:07

Good morning from damp and drizzly s somerset, we had 0.8mm of rain since midnight, grateful here for small mercies

Bellasnana, I have been thinking about you and your little dog flowers

I was so tired yesterday, had spent the whole day on my feet and up and down stairs more often than I could count. No plans at all for today, apart from continuining to deal with fabric stash and to clean a bit, lots of sitting today, to make up for yesterday.

I did finish my cotton top, it was lovely to try on, the feel of cool crisp cotton. That pattern will be in my go-to patterns but best in crisp cotton. There are pleats at the top of the sleeves and a lovely crisp v neckline

I am deciding what colours suit me best. To be less random with colour choices, I bought a colour analysis set of colours in the spring category and am going to be making a list over time

Have a good day

Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy, windy, dry corner of Somerset.

Rain in the forecast. Hope it’s right. A pottering weekend ahead here.

Hope the vet can help bellasnanna. I’m sad for you.

Have the best day you can everyone.

RosesandLilac Sat 05-Jul-25 06:59:00

Good morning, it’s a tad damp here on the hillside in south Glos, barely noticeable at all 🙄. I gave all my pots a thoroughly good watering yesterday evening but the borders badly need a downpour or two.
How worrying about the dog Bellasnana, it’s horrible when they’re unwell. I hope he perks up soon x
I had a lovely morning at art group, my efforts were not particularly pleasing to me so I binned them 🤷🏼‍♀️ but others did lovely work.
Tiddler and I had a very pleasant afternoon in the Shed, bigger dog wandered between us and DH who was watching the tennis and everything was peaceful for a few hours.
I really need to tackle the gardening today, it’s been too hot to do much for a while (and the forecast looks like it’s going to get hotter again next week 🥵), so that’s today’s plan after a long dog walk from the next village.
I cooked a chicken yesterday so we’ll have that cold with chips for dinner today 😋
I might persuade DH to give me a hand in the garden, lugging the stuff to the compost heap, the bins are full of nesting slow worms so I can’t use them!

Have a lovely day 🌹

kittylester Sat 05-Jul-25 07:06:51

Good morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire.

DD2 and family will arrive at lunchtime and then we have a quick turn around to go to the theatre and meet up with DD1, DD3, and all their daughters.

Then back here for tea.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 05-Jul-25 07:16:45

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

Elder son and our granddaughter are arriving for the weekend at some point today. I must sort out their rooms.

OH’s bee visit didn’t go to plan yesterday. A Queen had managed to get into the honey store, although he’d blocked it off and laid eggs. He’s not sure what to do now.

I hope that beautiful dog gets better soon.

My thoughts are with the FGT2S.

Gingster Sat 05-Jul-25 07:17:48

Good morning all and it’s overcast and cool here in Essex.
Lovely!
It’s a shame for Dd , DGD and friends as they have gone to our seaside cottage for the weekend and will have some rain.

We have an agent coming to value our house as we’re trying to get all our affairs in order, also Dd will get a valuation for the cottage whilst she’s there.

I must pack up a large fan to return as it’s absolutely useless and very noisy. Goodness knows how I’ll carry it to the PO.

Bellasnanna I do hope your lovely dog gets better soon. 🙏.
Have a lovely holiday Brook.,😎.

Take care all,🌼

Ashcombe Sat 05-Jul-25 07:19:41

Good morning from a dull and overcast Torbay with rain forecast this morning.

I hope there’s a happy out come to your dog's condition, Bellasnana. So hard when our animals are poorly.

I’m glad the meeting was well attended, grandMattie and I hope future plans regarding management are resolved. Here, I’ve been asking/reminding/badgering our lackadaisical management company regarding the upkeep of our building for more than 18 months. Finally, this week: a result! The beautiful wooden front door has been stained and varnished and the concrete area surrounding our Edwardian building has been pressure washed.

Last night we both were on Front of House duty at our theatre for a visiting swing band which kept us well entertained for a couple of hours. Sadly, it was not well supported with only about half the seats occupied.

Thinking of absent friends and those who are struggling. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s dry, no great surprise unfortunately. Cloudy but with blue sky in breaks in the cloud. I watered the tomato plants yesterday along with the rest of the plants in pots. The water barrels are almost empty now.
Did a little weeding and cut back some overgrown shrubs, but not a lot else.
bellasnana I hope the vet can help your poor little dog soon.
brook enjoy your holiday. karma have a more restful day today*
Stripped the bed and the sheets are in the washing machine churning away now, I’ll put clean sheets on the bed, then probably go for a walk. DD2 may come over this afternoon after helping at the school summer fete. Littlest is going to a birthday party today, the first party she’s been to, unfortunately it’s at a time when she’d normally be having a nap!

Have the best day possible everyone.

baubles Sat 05-Jul-25 07:20:39

Good morning from soggy South Lanarkshire.

Bella it’s so upsetting to have a lovely pet unwell. I hope the vet is able to help.

You are talented karma.

We braved a trip to Ilea yesterday and found a vanity cabinet and basin that I’d like for the downstairs loo. Annoyingly when I got home and started to put together an order I found that it was out of stock.

I’ll probably just have a lazy day and crochet a few more Christmas squares for our yarn group project.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from Shropshire.Another warm and breezy day forecast.

A lovely evening with DGD.She had had a chess lesson in school so wanted grandpa to play chess with her. After a couple of hours she won a game so was very happy.Today she has sewing club then we are meeting DD1 and H at the local food festival. The children are staying overnight.

Thinking of the FGT’s, Marydoll, Bellasnana and all struggling at the moment💐💪🏼🙏🏻

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and bright. Bellasnana I hope your lovely dog gets better soon. What a worry for you. GrandMattie I can quite understand why they picked you to be chair. Brook safe journey to Manchester and then Tenerife. Have a lovely holiday. I'm another who cleans before going on holiday. It's nice to come back to.
Yesterday I met a pal for breakfast. We went to a posh golf club which has a lovely restaurant. It sits high and the views across the course to the Ochil Hills are spectacular. We were sitting blethering when in walked Susan Boyle and a friend! You may remember her from Britain's Got Talent. She came right up and sat at the table next to us and said hello to me. I smiled and said hello back. I always felt sorry for her as I think she was manipulated badly. Anyway we left her in peace to enjoy her breakfast.
In the afternoon I pottered about and got a washing dry with the help of the central heating. It was so cold here!
Today I'll nip to Aldi for food. The horses are descending on me later aka dgs1 and 2. Dd and Dsil are going to Livingston for holiday clothes and it's easier without the boys. I expect I'll have to feed them dinner. Have a good day all

Jaxjacky Sat 05-Jul-25 07:24:12

Morning from a cloudy S Hants, we’ve had a mere sprinkling of rain, Southern Water are making shortage noises, I’m not surprised.
Blood test yesterday didn’t leave much of a mark but removing the dressing did, ouch!
Both children called in yesterday evening, both on the borrow 🙂
Enjoy your train trip brook and Tenerife, we have a friend stuck in Palma because of the French ATC, he may get back today.
Oh Bellas I hope the vet can help.
FGT 👋

Should say hordes are descending although the boys leap about like horses!

luluaugust Sat 05-Jul-25 07:43:29

Good morning from an overcast W Kent, where I shall be shopping and cooking along with a bit of tennis.
Bella hope your vet can help your dog
Best wishes

Marydoll Sat 05-Jul-25 07:57:52

Good morning all from a soggy Glasgow.

Bella, how upsetting for you. 💐

I've had a dreadful night. First, I was wakened by my extremely painful mouth, then later with chest pains. I couldn't find my angina spray in the dark and was starting to panic. Of course DH did not stir!
I am feeling very sorry for myself, but also annoyed at my frailty, I am so congested and have been coughing for the last hour. However, I am reluctant to break open my rescue pack of steroids. 😪

I will need to force myself to get up. I received a message yesterday from a colleague of my young sacristan friend, to say that it is his birthday tomorrow.
He is neurodiverse and would never had said anything , but he is always very kind to me, so I'm off to look for a tin of biscuits and a card. He is very particular about what he eats or drinks, but is partial to a biscuit.

As it's Saturday, I have to update the parish website, send out the e bulletin and amend the lectors' rota. I had cobbled one together, when my PC was broken, but one irate parishioner was not happy, that it didn't suit her. She is always irate and nothing ever suits her! 😉

Hopefully I will see my beloved Dollie today, I was too weary yesterday to return their alarm fob and they were shattered after their holiday!
I would rather stay in bed!

DH is rather excited, his new PC monitor is arriving today. We discovered that it was my fairly new monitor and HDMI cable, which were faulty and he kindly gave me his state of the art monitor, because I was unable to do the parish admin, without one.
Well I thought he was being very kind, until I realised that he has upgraded to an even better one.🤣

Safe journey brook and best wishes to all.

Good morning from a cool and dull Suffolk. I think I last posted just before I left to go north to see my terminally ill dear sister whose health had suddenly taken a turn for the worse. She died soon after I arrived with my brother and sister in law although younger DD had managed to get there a couple of hours earlier.

The funeral was on Monday, a gentle reflective time for family and her dear friends.

For the last few weeks life has been a peaceful quiet time for DH and I. We had a few days in the Lake District a couple of weeks ago and I have spent time with my closest friends. I had a lovely few hours with Gingster at her seaside cottage a couple or so weeks ago enjoying the sea view from the garden and lunch at the beach cafe near by. We used to visit that, just an ice cream kiosk then and the pub nearby more than 40 years ago when we lived in London and had holidays in a nearby cottage with our then young children.

I’m still in a quiet peaceful phase of life and will enjoy reading your posts but will probably, for the present time at least just post occasionally rather than daily.

I hope all remain well and those with worries or illness feel better soon.

Grammaretto Sat 05-Jul-25 08:18:27

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's dry after a day and night of blustery rain. Still cool.

I must leap into action shortly but would prefer to go back to bed.
I'm in a zoom church business meeting all day but still must help set up the Saturday café.
My friend came to supper last night and we got through a bottle of wine while putting the world to rights. the reason for feeling rough today

Have a lovely holiday brook

Sorry to see your dog languishing like that Bella. 41° is too hot for man or beast.

It sounds as if your residents group will be a force to be reckoned with gMattie

Have a good day everyone 😊

GrannyIvy Sat 05-Jul-25 08:19:11

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where is is grey and cloudy. We are off to Leicester today calling in at Fosse Park on route for a browse in M & S before a visit to DD1. She continues to be quite unwell with long covid symptoms and has now been off work for around six weeks. It will be nice to catch up with her and the GC. I suspect my Dsil will depart out running or on a cycle ride to coincide with our visit 😂 We will then return home for Saturday steak night.

I do hope your dog feels much better soon Bellasnana and you do too.

Sending best wishes to all those struggling and thinking in particular of the FGT’s 💐

Have a good weekend everyone

Wow, am I late! Rain here in Cornwall, perfect for patio and allotment. A marvellous day yesterday as my Lego deconstructing colleague took me to the annual display by an amazing craft group I knew nothing about. He said he thought I'd enjoy it and he was right. The people there had made all sorts of wonderful things. They meet weekly and I shall join them in September. Everyone was so friendly but no surprises about that. I lived in that very unpretentious town for a while and found it very welcoming then.

Today I must clean my flat, do some sewing and watch tennis. Am looking forward to a day at home.
