Do you have random love/hate relationships with people in the public eye?

I can't really explain what I mean but, on Breakfast this morning,Johnny Vegas, Feargal Sharkey and the man from the Bank of Dave have all been evoked that feeling.

Anyone else have similar feelings for other people? Or even understand what I'm talking about.

David Jason. In Delboy he has created the greatest comedy character ever. Totally adorable as Ger, ger Granville and brilliant as the original Pop Larkin. I have not watched Frost so can't comment but I know it was hugely popular. But in interviews he come across as patronising and that he is superior to the person talking to him.

I don’t think anyone’s mentioned my big big dislike
Katie Hopkins 🤮

Yes Gareth Malone wasn't very nice to other contestants when he was on Masterchef a few years ago.

The actor Mark Bazeley was in a series call Home Fires about a village and the WI during WW2. He played a vicious wife abuser so well that since then every time I see him on television I hate him with a vengeance. He is probably a lovely person in real life but when I see him I'm filled with rage.

I am ambivalent about Princess Catherine. She is clearly a nice friendly women, but a bit Hockey Captain for my taste.

Thank goodness it’s not just me! I don’t like her purely because she is so like her dreadful ‘I’m so important’ mother. Now SHE really does get up my nose!

Knock me down with a spatula, but I just can’t abide Nadiya Hussain who won Bake Off. ‘Oh I’m so cute and ordinary and I just know everyone loves me’ I find some of her recipes far too sweet - just like her 😂

I think Princess Catherine is probably a very nice person but her over the top posh false voice and facial expressions grate on me. I also struggle to forget the scheming her mother did to get her and William together.

William still had to fall in love with Catherine! Bit like horses and water.

Lady Gaga I like Nadiya I think she is very pleasant. I don't cook or bake, I can barely boil water. Thankfully my husband is a great cook and enjoys it. Mary Berry on the other hand I cannot abide. I have to turn the telly off when she appears. I find her cold and patronising yet she seems to rhino she is the nation's sweetheart.

Bukkie Thu 31-Jul-25 09:10:25

Think not rhino! Why is autocorrect so random?

I think part of the problem is that Catherine is fast turning into her unbearable mother.

I can’t fathom why people would think Carole Middleton is unbearable.
She’s obviously a strong, pushy woman but very supportive and loyal. William is fond of his in-laws and they have shown themselves to be warm and loving grandparents.
Their daughter needs them more than ever now.

Crossstitchfan Thu 31-Jul-25 10:29:42

I can’t stand Amanda Holden. Someone said she’s beautiful but knows it. Well, I think she is very plain, especially when she laughs, when she looks positively deranged.

Bukkie Thu 31-Jul-25 11:20:29

I think Carole Middleton comes across as unbearable and smug probably because all her scheming to engineer her daughter marrying the future King. She always looks like the cat that got the cream. Poor Michael always looks downtrodden. Catherine comes across as much nicer and more sincere than her mother. I think William likes the privacy of being at his in laws.

Calendargirl Thu 31-Jul-25 11:24:10

Digressing, but I think Carole Middleton has visibly aged since her daughter’s illness.

She and her DH must have been (and probably still are) so worried, not only for her recovery, but how it will impact on the grandchildren and also her future role as Queen. Whatever you think about the Royals, you need stamina to deal with their lifestyle into old age.

Bukkie Thu 31-Jul-25 11:59:12

Carole and Michael will have been naturally worried about their daughter and her family. I think their son James has health issues too.

Casdon Thu 31-Jul-25 13:34:05

I feel sorry for Carole Middleton after reading these comments, she’s not a public figure, and the comments feel like assumptions rather than knowledge.

Suzieque66 Thu 31-Jul-25 13:57:00

I thinks she is Brass, Loud, and thinks she is always Correct ..

TerriBull Thu 31-Jul-25 14:09:31

Disliking Carol Middleton is very random imo. She's not on tv, not a journalist, politician, or even a so called influencer. The only distinction between her and any other woman around her age who happens to be a well off mother and grandmother, is who her daughter is married to. My feelings towards her are completely neutral. No reason to either like or dislike.
