In *soop’s absence I’ve opened the door, fluffed the cushions and replenished the buffer.
Blossoming you have more patience than me with that bracelet, how delicate.
Tough times SueD I hope today went well for Thursday.
Yesterday’s quiz was a record 54 in attendance, not bad for a village on a Monday, we caught up with quiz mates, but failed to get in the top three. Before that I went to see a physiotherapist and came away with a bunch of knee exercises, I’ve crepitus apparently!
Today was washing, managed to whip it in before some rain unexpectedly came down.
With 🌹to soop and others struggling.

I have moved all the ornaments and most of the paintings and they are stored in the dining room

Crikey Grandmabatty I forgot you were having the room decorated and at first I thought you were putting stuff away before minding your gorgeous ā€˜wee boys’ tomorrow! 🫢

Baggs Sun 03-Aug-25 19:50:25

soop news. I went to visit Our Soop in hospital. It seems her pain is being well managed and we had a good long chat. She really wants you all to know how much she regrets that she cannot come into The Kitchen at the moment and she adjured me to tell you how much she has appreciated all the Kitcheners over the years and still does. She sent love and good wishes to all.

The cards I had sent with your good wishes may have got to her home but they have not got to her in hospital yet. I expect they will very soon.

Thanks for the update Baggs. It’s good to hear Soop’s pain is being managed

Hi kitchen pals, it’s been a warm sunny day here in Inverness, we’ve tidied the garden and put the summer patio pots in a sheltered corner in preparation for the storm tomorrow. I’ve just read that most of the trains have been cancelled from mid morning onwards so it sounds like it’ll be quite bad. I’ve got to go out in the morning for a volunteering session but should be home by lunchtime, we’ll stay in then for the rest of the day.
This morning I had a lovely catch up call with DS in Switzerland, he’s off to the Ed Sheeran concert in Zurich tonight- lucky thing, wish I was going too
Enjoy your holiday with the youngsters GG - have fun!
Hi to claregreybear good to have you with us
Pleased to hear you’re feeling a bit better Blossoming
Thinking of our poorly Soop and everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x

Jaxjacky Sun 03-Aug-25 20:30:34

Thank you Baggs a difficult time for you too 🄰

merlotgran Sun 03-Aug-25 20:38:20

That must have been hard for you, Baggs.
Thank you for the update. Glad soop’s pain is being managed.

kittylester Sun 03-Aug-25 20:53:46

Thank you baggs. I bet soop was really pleased to see you. Hope you are ok.

TillyTrotter Sun 03-Aug-25 21:04:30

Thank you Baggs soop will have been so pleased to see you and have a blether.
Very pleased to hear she is comfortable.

Grandmabatty Sun 03-Aug-25 21:05:13

Thank you Bagga for keeping us all up to date with Soop.
Brook does that affect your family's journey up from Cambridge?

Usedtobeblonde Sun 03-Aug-25 21:53:59

Thankyou Baggs for visiting Soop and the update.
I pray her pain will be managed and good care arranged.
Grandmabatty , the best of luck, I hate having things done in the house now and having work people in.
A wet start here and then a decent day.
Storm Floris is due and my S is taking his two sons to N Wales for a week tomorrow so I hope it isn’t too disruptive.
Kindest thoughts as always to the poorlies and their carers.
Have a peaceful night everyone.

How lovely Baggs that you could go and visit soop. Thank you so much for passing on the news. She and Mr soop are constantly in my thoughts.

gillgran Sun 03-Aug-25 22:08:12

Thanks, again, Baggs, so good that you got to visit soop.

We continue to send our best love to our dear soop & MrSoop. x

Redcar Sun 03-Aug-25 22:11:39

Thank you for the update baggs. It’s good to know that soop’s pain is being managed successfully. I hope that mr soop is coping without her but that he is able to go and see her despite the distance involved. Thinking of you too baggs.
blossoming I’m glad the antibiotics are working and that you’re feeling a little better.
I hope that storm Floris is not as disruptive as forecast and that any damage is very slight. Take care everyone who is in its path!

Charleygirl5 Sun 03-Aug-25 22:28:51

Thank you Baggs and hopefully you were able to have a good chat with soop.

It rains here occasionally during the night so I am able to wash all my clothes as it has been dry during the day for ages.

Look after yourselves.

cornergran Sun 03-Aug-25 22:38:49

Thank you baggs. Your updates are very much appreciated. I’m sure soop was cheered by your visit. A friendly face in hospital is worth more than words can say. We’re all thinking of them both.

This might make you all smile. Family were here for a few hours and ate a bits and pieces tea with us. Very enjoyable time, all the more so as it’s a bit of a rarity. After they left we cleared away and tidied. I settled on the sofa with a cold glass of white and nodded off. You guessed it I was woken by a very cold, wet shower. Thank goodness I drink white wine and my trousers absorbed every drop grin. What a waste though

Goodnight everyone. Sleep well.

Blossoming Sun 03-Aug-25 23:03:56

Thank you Baggs for the update x

Aldom Mon 04-Aug-25 07:30:23

Baggs it must have been a comfort to dear Soop to see you at her bedside. flowers Thank you for updating us. Soop and Mr Soop are very much in my thoughts. It's hard for them to be so far apart. I send them both love and strength.

Now that my house is SSTC I'm off house hunting on Wednesday. I have a list of six properties to view.

Claregreybear Mon 04-Aug-25 08:18:09

Thank you for the welcome. I hope everyone is well.
It's a very rainy grey morning here. I wish I didn't have to go out today but needs must. I'll be looking forward to getting home and back to my book. Could this be the start of cooler weather all round or do you think we have more hot spells to come?

Naughtyneine Mon 04-Aug-25 14:07:05

Sending a very quick message to say I hope all our Scottish Grans are safe. I'm up to my ears in work but will be back soon.

brook2704 Mon 04-Aug-25 14:55:44

Good afternoon kitchen pals from a very wild and windy Inverness.
Hope Soop is doing ok today and Mr Soop too. Thank you again Baggs for keeping us updated
DD1 and family are due to arrive Wednesday grandmabatty so thankfully not travelling today
Easily done cornergran especially after a busy day!
Thank you neine, I’m sat in the conservatory watching the trees at the bottom of the garden swirling about whilst the rain is battering on the roof. There’s a lovely tree in our front garden which is one of my favourites, I’m worried about it as it’s leaning over quite a bit, so DH went out about an hour ago with a stake and rope to see if he could prevent further damage - we’ll have to check it tomorrow and see what we can do! Lots of other debris in the garden but fences still upright- I think it’s easing off a bit now, fingers crossed. Hoping everyone else is safe too
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x

Grannmarie Mon 04-Aug-25 17:47:08

Hello, everyone.
Thank you Baggs for the update, reassuring to know that Soop's pain is well managed. I'm so glad you had a good visit, I'm sure Soop was happy to see you. Thinking of MrSoop too.

It's certainly wet and windy in Lanarkshire too, brook and neine, all the pots on my patio have been blown over and set of goalposts has landed on my front garden. I hope your nice tree is OK.

This afternoon's plans for a meet up with a friend have been postponed while we have the Amber warning, Grandpup and I were nearly blown away on our walk this morning. DS1 collected her at lunchtime and enjoyed a lunch of French toast, his childhood favourite.

Good luck house hunting, Aldom!.šŸ¤ž šŸ”

Hope the painting and decorating goes well, Grandmabatty. You'll be looking forward to seeing your new sofas and blinds in situ when it's all done.

Blossoming, good to hear that the antibiotics are helping and you're feeling a bit better.

Cornergran, I've done that too! I doze off at the drop of a hat these days. 😓

Jaxjacky, thank you for keeping this lovely thread going during Soop's absence. Good luck for your quiz this evening, if you are safe to venture out.

Thinking of the FGTS, all with worries, illness or sorrow, and those in the quiet corner. Wishing everyone a peaceful Monday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA.

Nannytopsy Mon 04-Aug-25 19:32:26

Good evening everyone. Our bit of Suffolk now has sunshine after a bit of wind and rain. Nothing like Wales and Scotland.
The DGC are fed and I’m about to put DGD in the bath with a tube of my best Clarins body scrub. She had a cast removed from her fractured arm today and wants to get rid of the dry scaly skin that’s left behind. Then on with the body butter! We have spent the afternoon making pom-poms - a first for me!
Best wishes to all the poorly people and their other halves.

brook2704 Mon 04-Aug-25 21:38:02

Aww hope your DGDs arm is better now Nannytopsy and she’s enjoyed the pampering

The storm has lessened a bit now, still windy though. It’s such a good job we stayed in this afternoon, there’s so many trees down and roads blocked in Inverness. Lots of pictures online of trees down by the cathedral and along river, exactly where I walk back into town after the gym - scary stuff! At least the power stayed on here, we were lucky

Redcar Mon 04-Aug-25 21:58:56

We were fortunate here in Essex, to have escaped storm Floris today, just a windy day with a few spots of rain until about 7 o’clock when we had a really heavy shower as the cold front went over. I’ve been watching the news bulletins from Scotland, showing the fallen trees and damaged cars. I hope all our Kitcheners are safe and have electricity.
brook I hope your favourite tree has survived the storm.
utbb I hope your DS and DGS have had a safe journey to Wales.
Thinking of the soops and the fgts and hoping that they are all pain free and comfortable.

Night night everyone, hoping for a good night’s sleep for us all and a better day tomorrow.
