Soop’s cosy kitchen for kindly and caring folk

In *soop’s absence I’ve opened the door, fluffed the cushions and replenished the buffer.
Blossoming you have more patience than me with that bracelet, how delicate.
Tough times SueD I hope today went well for Thursday.
Yesterday’s quiz was a record 54 in attendance, not bad for a village on a Monday, we caught up with quiz mates, but failed to get in the top three. Before that I went to see a physiotherapist and came away with a bunch of knee exercises, I’ve crepitus apparently!
Today was washing, managed to whip it in before some rain unexpectedly came down.
With 🌹to soop and others struggling.

baggs thank you for the latest news on soop. I hope that all goes according to plan, she will no doubt be pleased to see her DS and his partner. Hope it won’t be too long before she is allowed home to her DH.

Such sadness for your children to deal with jaxjacky, I feel for them as they come to terms with the situation. I hope the person with liver failure can be helped.

grannygravy that is a major upheaval, do you think it will be finished by Christmas? Could you move out for the duration? Perhaps it’s better to stay at home to make sure the builders are doing the work to your satisfaction!
No rain again, but some very black clouds around, all of which blew over quickly. I was at a funeral this afternoon, the middle aged son of an older (older than me) couple who I’ve known from the day we moved here, 43 years ago today! The wake was held at his parents’ house, where he also lived, lots of people there and just warm enough for us all to sit outside. And so much food that no need to cook this evening! Lots of happy memories of the whole family.

Love and best wishes to fgt I think it’s her birthday today.

Love also to those who are struggling with illness and difficult situations.

A cooler night is forecast, so hopefully we’ll all sleep better tonight.
Night night everyone.

Grandmabatty Wed 27-Aug-25 20:14:00

* Grannygravy* that all sounds rotten. Hopefully it will be fixed properly long before Christmas.
I had an early haircut then worked in the school library. Once home, I pottered about and had a long, unexpected nap instead of tidying the boys room.
I've come to bed because my feet are sore and I'm still tired despite my nap. I'll read for a while before sleep. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

The best birthday present for me today was the totally unexpected discharge home late afternoon of Himself. Senior doctor saw him on his ward round along with the team. Turns out he’s had sepsis triggered by low blood platelets (no immunity) after the chemo (which didn’t work anyway). My poor man has been through the mill. The doctor said home now, build up your strength and energy and we will see you in clinic in a couple of weeks. He’s fast asleep beside me now, totally shattered. I’m so very grateful for the care and treatment he’s received on the ward. x

Such an unexpected bonus for youFGT.
You must be delighted and relieved to have your H back under your devoted care.
I hope he recovers some strength and energy in the next few weeks and you move into the next stage of his care.
We do know what it is like and our thoughts are with you both.

Happy birthday FGT2 🎂
Sounds like you had a good birthday present!

My kitchen is very sticky atm. OH has been extracting honey and it gets everywhere. I was at the hairdresser having my roots done and a cut while most of the extracting was going on.

Someone mentioned moving out when work was being done. When we lived in Seychelles, our bungalow became infested with termites (white ants) which were eating the back door and parquet flooring. It sounded like rain! We had to move into a hotel (there were only 5* hotels back then) and the company paid.😊 The chemicals which were used were dangerous,

Have a good evening and sleep 💤 tight.

Love to dear Soop❤️

DH is to have repeat liver scans in a few weeks, not been told very much only that he’s not able to have operations or chemo in the near future. Not a surprise as we were told this was a possibility a while ago.Anyway we are going back to Corfu at the end of September and our sons and maybe grandsons will be coming for a long weekend. It will be lovely and something to look forward to.
Have a good evening all.

GrandmaC47 Wed 27-Aug-25 22:26:48

A wonderful birthday present for you, fgt.
Thinking os Soop and hoping she will soon be home with her dh.
I’m happily exhausted, dg age 10 has been here most of the day. DD2 dropped her off when she collected the granddogs who have been with us for two weeks while the family was in Turkey. Lovely to see her but she’s so energetic. She was collected at eight o’clock and I flopped 😂

Phew. What a day in the Kitchen

Thank you as ever, baggs. I’m sure a family visit will be a tonic for both mr and mrs soop. I hope arrangements can be made for soop to be at home soon. My love goes to them all.

A truly happy birthday gift fgt. A step forward for sure.

I’m sorry grannyg I couldn’t help but smile at your incarceration. It did surprise me the insurer didn't suggest you moved out for at least some of the work, it sounds as if your home will resemble a demolition site. 🤞 it goes as well as such things can.

I’m pleased you have that break to look forward to yia. We’re hoping to have some time away once my eye appointments have run their course, not sure where but it’s bucked me up no end to be able to look forward to a break.

Hope you feel stronger soon blossoming

A tough day granmarie flowers.

Apologies to those I’ve missed. The old memory isn’t what it was!

A decent day for me, three hours nattering with a friend this morning, kind traffic for once, two of my three charity bags deposited this afternoon and a cuppa out with Mr C. Some heavy short lived showers have done nothing for the parched ground or the spotty dust on our car. If a car could have measles it’s ours grin. It’s been booked in for a wash and brush up tomorrow after which I can guarantee the sky will open and it will be covered in mud

Sleep well everyone. Thinking of you all.

mamaa Wed 27-Aug-25 23:30:17
