The US president said that a “horrible invasion” was taking place, adding it had to “stop”, shortly after touching down on Air Force One at Glasgow Airport.

“Asked about illegal migration to Britain, Mr Trump said: “On immigration you better get your act together or you’re not going to have Europe anymore.”
He continued: “You’ve got to stop this horrible invasion that is happening to Europe, many countries in Europe.”
“Some leaders have not let it happen, and they’re not getting the proper credit... I could name them to you right now, but I’m not going to embarrass the other ones. But stop, this immigration is killing Europe.”
Mr Trump, who has made border control a key priority of his presidency, said: “Last month we had nobody entering our country.”

Well done Trump. He’s not wrong! 🇬🇧

It always amuses me that individual cars are occasionally asked, vous avez des immigrés? Like do you have wine and beer?

How amusing indeed.

Glad you like a bit of humour! 😁
If they looked in the back of my car two big sloppy dogs would greet them. Legal paperwork in order!

It doesn't matter where they are from, they are unwelcome in a Country strapped for cash and with limited space.
Everywhere you go, you hear anti-immigrant rhetoric . Not just the inner city areas but in the fearful leafy suburbs where immigrants are housed in run-down hotels.
All this is making life difficult for those settled here legally; it is going to end badly.

Casdon Thu 31-Jul-25 18:00:22

Of course it matters where they are from Boz, even if you chose to ignore all the human rights issues, it’s not straightforward to return people to other countries all over the world. Trump is wrestling with that very issue currently.

Oh, a bit like the white invaders to N America who displaced the Native Americans?
I suppose he should know, his grandfather was an illegal immigrant

(Sorry, FGT2, you know I like you really!!)

This is what the anti-immigrant lobby just fail to see. Trump isn’t talking out of any concern for social cohesion, he’s a racist.

He’s got exactly the right name
His mother was a Scottish immigrant his father the son of an illegal immigrant who I believed made much of his fortune from brothels both parents were members of KKK
USA and Uk are built on immigration
Put your money where you hat is and refuse to be treated by an immigrant when you get rushed to hospital or land in a care home

This.

Skodadoda Thu 31-Jul-25 18:07:42

madeleine45 very well said; what a pity so many please are ignoring this. I’m very sad to see so many on here demonstrating their intolerance.

Is it right to walk, or boat, into a foreign country and asked to be looked after in this day and age?

woodenspoon Thu 31-Jul-25 18:19:07

Of course it’s not right. But there’s many on here who will not see this. You’re banging your head against a brick wall. They love them. The more the merrier.

😂
It does seem like that at times on here.

Boz, as has been explained, people are not " illegal" until processes have been undertaken to establish this.
Those found illegal are then deported.
The government, and, indeed, the previous government, have been doing this.

Shouldn't have to wait for processes to determine whether they are legal or not. That's what's causing a lot of the current problems. If you rock up on a dinghy without valid papers (which let's face it an awful lot do) then that should say only one thing - illegal ! Instant deportation should be the only route they take.

woodenspoon Thu 31-Jul-25 18:31:39

What I can never get my head round with all these on here who love them is that are unable to correlate the fact that these individuals use up resources meant for British people, whether it’s schools bursting at the seams full of kids who can’t speak English, the nhs on its knees as they get treatment as soon as they arrive on the dinghies also the cost of interpreters in every language known to man, feeding them, clothing them, housing them, mobile phones, pocket money, it’s relentless. More and more every day. Someone somewhere is involved in this corruption and making lots of money from it.

How many times do I have to say that I realise there is a problem. But we are dealing with fellow human beings here. And, thankfully, none of us have had to live in a war zone so we have no comprehension of what their lives are like.

The boats took over where the lorries left off.The lorry drivers faced such severe sentences that they had to stop.Quite rightly.

Migrants still arrive in significant numbers by lorry, it’s just that public interest has moved on to small boat arrivals.
www.migrationwatchuk.org/pdfs/MW502-illegal-clandestine-arrivals-by-lorry.pdf
I think that the largest numbers of people here with no right to stay though is actually people who have arrived on a visitors passport and don’t leave when it expires.

Interesting!
According to migration watch the public aren’t told about the lorry arrivals.I guess you can hide those figures but not the boats arriving for all to see.
What about all the undetected migrants, who can really say what the figures are?
Things get worse.

Is there a war in Pakistan? Or Vietnam? I hadn’t noticed!

They’re mainly economic migrants and everyone knows it.

Do you have proof of that?

Oreo Thu 31-Jul-25 18:53:08

All those who don’t mind how many rock up on our shores with no ID may like to offer their own guest bedrooms.
Just a thought.😄

Either that or they’re an army in waiting, just waiting for the green light as many think. Nothing would surprise me at all.

Why don’t you prove they’re not? We all know many of them are. All men of fighting age. The odd few families with kids but not many.

I’d vote for Farage, Trump or even Mickey Mouse if it stopped this insanity.

StripeyGran Thu 31-Jul-25 19:00:46

Blimey! Either some of you are on the cooking sherry and/ or losing your remaining marbles.

Can we drop the guest bedroom nonsense please? grin

You speak for yourself. I’ve not had a drink this evening or many for that matter. As for the guest bedroom nonsense as you put it, they should be offering to house them like the Ukrainians were. But, nobody wants them do they.

Oreo Thu 31-Jul-25 19:07:47

I resent the cooking sherry jibe 😁I allow nothing but the finest Amontillado passed my lips.
If putting money where mouths are regarding the ‘oh let all the poor things in’ by giving up a room in your house, as many did for Ukrainians then I’d be impressed.
It won’t happen in this case as quite rightly we don’t know where they come from or what character and so on.Could well be criminal or murder suspects or rapists.
If you won’t have them in your home why be happy for them to be in your country.

The latest figures I heard say over 70% of those seeking asylum have it granted.

How is that insanity ?

That question doesn’t mean I “love them, the more the merrier “. It simply means I have humanity and respect for international law”

No one is suggesting “something “ doesn’t need to be done, the difficulty is what’s the best way to achieve a reduction /an end in people arriving here and being put up in hotels

woodenspoon Thu 31-Jul-25 19:15:34

25,000 so far this year. 900 yesterday. Mostly men.
