Beach huts are moved from our beaches each autumn.

because of the tide? or because of vandalism?

They'd have to move me in the hut. I'd be like The Lady in the Van.

Oh nothing to do with vandalism, JaneJudge. Winter storms can damage wooden structures!

Inhave a watercolour of Solva on my bedroom wall - we bought it there in 2004. It’s the first thing I see in the morning when I open my eyes and I always ache to be back there.

I was lucky enough as a child to have all my school holidays there with my grandparents and I too have a photo of Solva on my wall. A magical place in my opinion and I would give a lot to holiday there again, but at 79 and 350 miles away, it’s just a dream. It all stopped for me when I was about 15 when my grandmother died. The worst day of my life.
We can shed tears together, Greyduster. 💐🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

We are less than 40 miles from Solva. Since we have a free bus pass might take a journey west. We haven’t been there for years.

Neither have I and I fear it might have changed since I was there last. You are so lucky to live there, one of our favourite walks was on the Gribin. We used to cut across a field which took us to the edge of the headland and by going a bit off the path, we found a place where we sat for hours just soaking it all up. It was down a bit of a dip so we couldn’t be seen from the path. Bliss.

It hasn’t changed, except that the colours the houses are painted in are a bit more subtle, it’s still quite lovely.

Even after all these years, I am still terribly nostalgic about Solva. It was such an important part of my life.
My grandparents are buried in a cemetery in Middle Mill. I will treasure memories of Solva until I die.
Next time you go, JamesandJohn, please leave a kiss there from me. X.
Thank you

Bournemouth, Swanage and West Wittering. Nice sandy beaches.

Friends of mine booked Bournemouth for a weeks stay, said it had gone to the wall, not as nice as it used to be to be.

Very few places are as nice as they used to be.

Sounds like you’re talking about seaside towns — Southwold with its calm charm and colourful beach huts versus Skegness with its full-on family fun and arcades.

Southwold definitely has that genteel, postcard-perfect vibe (good fish and chips, a pier that’s more quaint than brash), while Skeggy is unapologetically buckets-and-spades, candyfloss, and a bit of kiss-me-quick nostalgia.

If it’s been five years since you went to Skegness, you might find it’s had some changes — the beach and donkeys are still there, but there have been some updates around the seafront and aquarium.

Thank you! And have a good trip when you do decide to go.
My granddad was a bus driver for the Western Welsh bus company based in St David’s. He was oven picked to drive Mystery tours around the county and I quite often used to go with him. It’s funny - I am dreadfully travel sick normally but I was never sick on those trips.

Often picked, not oven picked!

We used to take our car to Haverfordwest fog its annual service. Whilst it was in the garage we caught the bus to St David’s, or ape broke or anywhere in between. The garage has gone now , but lovely days.I think we can get a bus west from Carmarthen , so we could try that.
