‘Preferred’ Presenters.

Sitting here eating my breakfast, listening to Classic FM as usual.

Aled Jones is hosting the Breakfast show, standing in for Dan Walker, obviously on holiday.

I much prefer Aled’s dulcet tones to Dan’s rather strident, excitable way of presenting, with his dog walkers comments and hearing about some listener’s experience with their own Fido.

Set me thinking how the evening BBC News has preferred presenters, (Clive Myrie, Reta Chakrabarty, Jane Hill) to some of the others, likewise with the weather presenters.

Still, wouldn’t do if we all thought alike, would it?

I like Vernon Kaye, Scott Mills in the mornings & of course Jo Whiley but I absolutely love DJ Spoony's music in the evenings which is a great surprise 🤩

I like Vernon Kay, he's bonkers. Gary is a good "Super Sub".
My absolute favourites are Trevor Nelson who is outstanding as a DJ. Liza Tarbuck, amazing, the Legend that is Tony Blackburn.
Can't stand Scott Mills and Jeremy Vine.

Gary Davis any day. You know what I mean really annoys me.

I think I might be in a minority here, but I simply cannot listen to Clive Murray. The way he speaks in groups of words and lift his voice at the end of the sentence drives me absolutely insane.

LaTroisette Fri 15-Aug-25 16:44:50

I like Liza Tarbuck

Stig Abell on Times Radio Breakfast and Amal Rajan on BBC Today. Also liked Aasmah Mir when she presented with Stig.

Which programme does Clive Murray present?

Fatoldlady - Peter Levy is my local presenter too and he is fantastic. Him and the weatherman Paul Hudson bounce off each other so well and are hilarious. When we go on holiday to any other part of the country we realise how dreadful and amateurish ever one local news programme is.

I like Carol Kirkwood the weather presenter

So do I, she seems such a pleasant and gentle soul and takes all the ribbing from the other presenters, especially Naga, in very good spirit.

Jane43 Fri 15-Aug-25 17:20:50

I am very fond of Des the weather man on Midlands local news, such a pleasant man and I believe he has had cancer three times previously but you would never know.

Not keen on Paddy McGuiness.

Bazza Fri 15-Aug-25 17:32:19

Anyone but Naga Munchetty.

I love Amol on University Challenge, he is so warm with the students. Very different to Jeremy Paxman!

polly123 Fri 15-Aug-25 17:35:32

Such a relief to find Gary Davis doing Radio 2 morning show. I am heartily tired of Vernon Kay and his presentation style (loud, silly and self promoting). Please let Gary Davis continue and move Vernon Kay to another slot, preferably late at night when I won't be listening!
All time favourites include Terry Wogan, George Alagiah and Clive Myrie all of whom seem/ed lovely men. Really like Rita Chakrabarti too.

Can't bear Vernon Kay. He's obsessed with telling his listeners about his very mundane life prior to being on R2 instead of concentrating on the music. I love it when Gary Davies replaces him. Also loathe Paddy McGuinness talking about his life outside work. When he's on I turn the radio off!. Terry Wogan was my all-time favourite, particularly the Janet & John stories that were so entertaining on my drive to work!

sodapop Fri 15-Aug-25 17:42:48

Terry Wogan was a favourite of mine too shoppinggirl I remember him in the early days with Jimmy Young then later my children were force fed his programme on the way to school.
Think I am in the minority but I like Naga Manchetty, her approach to things is very similar to mine. Not sure what that says about me.

Meme60 Fri 15-Aug-25 17:48:33

Any positive vote for Robert Peston?
So irritating!

Bridie22 Fri 15-Aug-25 17:57:39

I have a soft spot for Michael Ball and Love Songs, Paddy Mc Guinness is turned off immediately!

Duvetdiva Fri 15-Aug-25 18:22:28

Oh I love Sarah Cox she has a knack for speaking to people as if she’s in the same room. Oh she’ll be on now. I must go in.

Grandma600 Fri 15-Aug-25 18:32:01

Doodled, how I agree with you! Tom Bradby's delivery, telling me how I should react to every item of news, makes me so annoyed. I prefer any other newsreader to him (although Clive Myrie's on so many other things he might be in line for a sigh from me)

Oh no, can’t stand ‘Ooh Gary Davis’ at any price.

I’m with you @gransruleok

Really don’t like his presenting style.

SaxonGrace Fri 15-Aug-25 19:07:31

I’m the opposite I turn off when he is on

SaxonGrace Fri 15-Aug-25 19:08:50

I only listen when she does the show, can’t bear the smugness of Vine

SaxonGrace Fri 15-Aug-25 19:09:16

I’m the same, it’s Vernon for me

Washerwoman Fri 15-Aug-25 19:31:44

On radio 2 don't mind Vernon but Gay Davies is a good stand in.Like Sarah Cox and whilst initially unsure now enjoy Trevor Nelson in the afternoon. But really can't get on with Scott Mills. So dull and hate that 'love you ' to everyone.
I still miss Terry and his wit though.
