What would be said if the Duchess of Sussex had released the same?

Parsley3 Sat 16-Aug-25 17:55:42

I have just watched it all while basking in the sunlit hours. It is mercifully short.

Etoile2701 Sat 16-Aug-25 18:24:00

I agree ... why?

Kamiso Sat 16-Aug-25 18:29:32

I will be having a cancer check up and I actually found the video quite calming and soothing until the GN snipers went into action. I suppose they just can’t help themselves.

I have also been guilty as charged for not wanting to sweep it all under the carpet and pretend that it can’t possibly be a concern to some willfully ignorant posters.

If she wasn't royalty, everyone would love it and see it as it is, but S she is the wife of the next in line, there will be many who will inspect every second of it in case she made a blinder than can be used in a mews article

Gosh why are people so spiteful and nasty on here?It is a lovely video, nothing to complain about from me.

Boz

They make"silly speeches" to justify their existence - all part of the job.
Catherine's accent is the received pronunciation of the Public School system - not particularly "Royal"
The late Queen is currently having the shine knocked off her memory by the revelation that she turned a blind eye to Andrew's peccadllos.

Without the "silly speeches" Diana made, AIDS would have remained a stigma for a lot longer.

“Nature is healing” - who knew? Monty Don tells us this every week on his gardening programme. People who are genuinely on struggle street aren't the ones who will be watching this twaddle. Its on a par with the Sussexes and their soft focus gushes

But they will watch Monty Don !

For once I agree with vegansrock It’s a lovely video but preaching to the converted. There’s not much natural beauty in struggle street and there’s an unmistakable whiff of ‘I’m all right, Jack’ about it all.

Having said that, I believe the Prince and Princess genuinely care about the needs of those less fortunate but these videos are pointless.

Anniebach Sat 16-Aug-25 20:43:31

If one person watches and chooses to leave their four walls it
will not be pointless

Best wishes for your check-up.

Because they are envy and have a narrow view of what the Royal Family does.

I wasn’t being spiteful or nasty and I wasn’t complaining.
I’m not envious and I don’t have a narrow view of what the RF does.

Everyone is entitled to comment.

Haven't seen this yet and don't particularly want to. I did see the last one and thought it was sickly sweet. I wish her well with her recovery but I wish the same to the thousands of others going through the same thing without the luxury of not having to go to work, not having the very best medical treatment available or nannies/ housekeepers to look after her children and do the cooking , laundry, shopping etc

vegansrock Sat 16-Aug-25 22:17:49

We were asked our opinion. It’s not spiteful or nasty to criticise it.

It wasn't criticism of the video as such, it was that, as usual on any thread about the Royal Family, opinions are divided but it's interesting to note how little people know about what the Royal Family actually does.

I doubt that a Republic would be an improvement or in fact cost less.

Does any minor member of the Royal Family ever have a cavalcade of 18 cars accompanying them on holiday?

Franski Sun 17-Aug-25 06:48:27

My view. Watching the videos made me feel happy and inspired once again by the beauty of the natural world. I love seeing people and families connect with each other. Re the OP question, yes MM would be criticised..but she will be whatever she does.
Honestly, watching the news really gets me down, and so I am glad for anything that focuses on beauty and love. Twee or not. I am tired of cynicism in myself and people around me xx

BlueBelle Sun 17-Aug-25 06:56:27

I m happy to have a royal family however I am angry at the money and entitlement if they were more low key more ordinary and used their vast wealth to the good of the country instead of screwing over some of our precious much needed organisations I d respect them a lot more.
I m glad she recovered from cancer my young friend in her early thirties didn’t she died this week I don’t need her to tell me nature is good for the soul though, don’t we all know that, perhaps we d all like to be in the position of walking through pretty fields and country lanes maybe she could tell that to the young people in high rise flats or substandard housing trying to bring up their children in mould and damp

It’s the huge differences that make it difficult to like them (for me anyway)

vegansrock Sun 17-Aug-25 07:01:43

Alira We all know what the RF does. It isn’t protected information ( though some of it undoubtedly is) . Some members of the RF definitely have cavalcades of horses, cars , etc when they go out on various occasions. I’ve seen the motorbikes, secret service cars etc closing roads just so a RF member can go shopping.
I guess the question is - would the public have been happy with a King Andrew? If there was a newly established state today would you recommend it becomes a monarchy?

escaped Sun 17-Aug-25 07:45:07

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the video was released on PoW's social media, wasn't it? So it wasn't shoved in our faces as some say. vivaldi is right .........
So many people of Kate's age release videos about all sorts of different things.
It's obviously something she feels strongly about and totally inoffensive; if you don't go for that sort of thing, don't watch it.

I assume it wasn't a broadcast to the nation type announcement, or even on the national news, as I didn't know about it this time until someone posted it on here.

Gingster Sun 17-Aug-25 07:56:04

I admire the RF and think Katherine is perfect for the role but I dislike her speaking voice. It seems forced and the elecution is overly precise. I would like it if she were a little more relaxed.

Anniebach Sun 17-Aug-25 08:13:46

I haven’t seen the video, it isn’t on uTube , does one need to search it ?

escaped Sun 17-Aug-25 08:25:12

I think the Royals engage voice coaches to improve their accents and the delivery of their speeches.

I promise you, not many children naturally speak like that in private schools, as a poster suggested!

It is on YouTube. There was a link on page one.

Thank you Petra I do look on uTube daily but haven’t seen it

I have always supported the monarchy and will continue to do so but I truly believe there are times when they struggle to understand what people expect from a modern monarchy. I keep an open mind. Much as I often applaud them I feel they must remember that failure to Read the Room has been the downfall of many monarchies in the past.
This is just a simple, kindly meant video so no big deal but sometimes it’s the little things that grate.
