A September Challenge

In the back to school spirit, are you planning a new September challenge?

I’ve set myself two, one is to study Art Deco design, particularly jewellery design, I’m looking to sign up to online courses, as I can’t find any taught ones, and I’ve put some book requests in at the library. .

The other is to start wearing all my earrings, a different pair every day - and get rid of the ones I don’t like now. I must have over 50 pairs as I don’t think I’ve ever got rid of any since I had my ears pierced when I was 18.

Are you planning anything, or is it just me who still gets that new term, must do something different feeling, 50 years after leaving school?

In theory I begin the pre-Christmas diet and exercise programme .
I have cut down at,but not enough .
There's the paintings and jewellery that I'm supposed to be making for people .
Still sorting and clearing a huge amount of stuff accumulated through the years .

Having taught for 40 odd years,I get that back to school feeling
as soon as it’s September.I am going to make a quilt….never done quilting before ,my sister has given me a couple of lessons,so now I’ve got something to do to fill those dark days.

Well, having worn them all day, my day 1 earrings are on their way out of my life. Large gold coloured button studs are no longer my bag.

I already have...joined this group!

My garden consumes me over the summer months so going forward into September planning two good walks and a cycle ride every week plus signed up for the new term of Pilates. Keeping a close eye on my weight too determined not to gain weight this winter!

The plan is also to declutter the loft it is a good plan but never seems to actually move forward 🙈

I'm going through all my clothes. Trying everything on and donating things I don't like. Very cathartic.

I don’t have much clutter in my home, but I do have a fair bit of sentimental stuff in the loft etc.
I’m going to re-read The Gentle Art Of Swedish Death Cleaning, and make a start.

Mine should be to finish all the half-finished craft projects I have kicking around - paintings, a half made rug, a cardigan I’ve been knitting since Adam was a lad which only needs the button band…. And to order a skip and have a good clear out of house and garden before the winter sets in.

As part of my challenge, moving house, yesterday I emptied the bottom of my wardrobes. Thoroughly cleaned. Boxed all my shoes, taped and labelled the boxes.
Today it's the fitted wardrobe shelves to empty, clean and sort.

I am keeping a winter diary and plan to go to bed and get up earlier and be more active, as well as watching what I eat.

I love the changing seasons and the challenges each one brings.

Two days in and I'm cracking it lol!

SpringsEternal

Romola I've just had a French lesson from Jumpspeak. I've been using Duolingo but it was lovely to speak to a human being, even though it was online.

I’ve had difficulty finding a local Spanish conversation class, thank you for suggesting Jumpspeak. I had a Quick Look and will try the 100 day free offer. Thank you, SpringsEternal.

I’m setting a challenge to get some form of exercise every day in September. September 2nd and I’m on track.

This is like New Year. I’m going to join the U3a. Also do a huge carboot sale before they end. I need to get rid of stuff. Difficult as DH is a hoarder.

I bought an exercise bike a few weeks ago, not one of those expensive, all singing and dancing ones, just a mid price one for beginners. I've been using it regularly for 10 minutes a day to build up my stamina so my challenge is to increase to 15 minutes and also go out for walks. Luckily, whilst we live in a residential area, there are views of the countryside from the spare room which makes pedalling quite pleasant, along with the radio.

Also I want to learn how to use Vinted. I've had the app for a long time but never got round to using it. I have taken lots of clothes to the charity shop and I expect that some of them will have been bought and re-sold as they were in good condition, but I have some rarely worn shoes and clothes which I would like to have a go at selling.
