A second Good morning from a less mardy Madeleine! Now with the miracles of hot showers and hot coffee am looking and feeling a bit better than earlier. Still creaking and wont be doing the great north run this morning, but at least feel clean and less creaky and you are safe to stand down wind of me now!! If I was on desert island discs, no matter what I would like to have as my luxury , I would have to have a hot shower, and cheat a bit and have an everlasting cup of hot coffee waiting for me as I got dried!!
Sorry to hear about you with the dog Greyduster, and hope that you are now feeling a bit more yourself, but it does shake you up so much doesnt it? I hope that the owner has learnt his lesson and keeps it on a lead in future. Whatever happens they always say "its never happened before" but if they had simply thought a bit more they could see the possibility of problems! I do think that many people got dogs during the covid situation, and so did not take them to any training , or have experienced dog owners to tell them what they need to know. It is a shame when most of the local dog owners are very law abiding and do their best, when some rogue owner behaves in a stupid and selfish way, getting a bad name for all owners.
In our local Cafe Nero, well behaved dogs are welcome in a certain area, and early on in the day there are many dog walkers who come in for a coffee and a meet up, and the dogs are all extremely well behaved and quiet and out of the way. The other day a woman came in with a very yappy small dog and proceeded to sit down with a friend, ignore the dog and just talk to her friend . The dog continued in a high pitched yap which was very irritating and I saw many other people looking across at her but of course the british way of looking but doing nothing. I went across and asked her to take the dog outside and quieten it down and bring it back in. She looked a bit taken aback, but as I said to her, you are giving the dog owners a bad name and the cafe could decide to ban them, when they are making as much noise as your dog is. I then said nothing more , but just stood there looking at her. She realized that I intended to stay there until she did something and then picked up the dog and flounced out of the door. The dog duly quietened she returned and I said simply Thankyou and returned to my seat. It seems that these days people are just involved with their own doings and give little consideration to other peoples comfort or needs.
Ah ha, even got a bit of sunshine now at last and the wind has picked up quite a bit more than a breeze now, so if I find the energy I may even wash my precious cashmere jumper and dry it outside , which I much prefer. So from a happier Madeleine I wish you all a lovely day that gets better as it goes on.
