Hello Kitcheners- hope you don't mind and apologies if a new kitchen has already been opened elsewhere but I couldn't find it if there has... I've done my best but it still needs a few throws and cushions to make it more homely, ready for the nights drawing in and chillier evenings. Some freshly baked scones, jam and cream on the side if you fancy a treat.
I hope you dont think it presumptious of me to start this kitchen as I don't post as regularly as some of you but do find Soops Kitchen a lovely place to drop into even if I've nothing to say.

I hope today’s scan brings good news sueD. I hope that kitty is feeling better as well.
neine sorry that you are in such pain again and I hope you don’t have to wait too long for your operation. Weepiness is fine, no matter your age!
The sun is out and it’s warm here in Essex and I should be doing something strenuous in the garden, but I’m having a coffee, the athletics is(are?) on tv and I’m enjoying reading your posts everyone! Have a good day if you can!

Hello everyone in this lovely comfortable kitchen.
Happy Birthday Grandmabatty
Everything crossed for your DH* SueDonim* prayers included.
I hope kitty is home and recovering.
My thought go to all I haven’t mentioned, I don’t mean to leave anyone out but like Pooh Bear I am an old lady with very little brain, my memory is far from what is was.
I have had a very difficult and upsetting week with family matters, they do not improve at all.
I have had a very difficult decision to make but I have made it now and I hope and pray matters will ease in the New Year.

We shouldn’t live with regrets but I wish I had stuck to my decision to downsize when my H died.
I think my life would have been more peaceful and I would be far better off financially.
However it is too late now to cry over spilt milk.

I hope you can all get something positive out of today.
For myself I shall try.

Just in case you think I am “ on my uppers “ I am not and have bought two new jumpers and have ordered myself an Advent Calendar as a treat, it should come in a few weeks.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 19-Sept-25 12:56:50

Oh uttb hindsight is a wonderful thing. Try not to dwell. We make our decisions in life according to a given situation at the time. We don’t say “now - what can I do to f**k this up further down the line?”. 💐

kittylester Fri 19-Sept-25 13:10:55

Neine, I feel a bit like that. My op was bigger than it was meant to be so I am hear till about Sunday - I did mention Strictly but they don't seem to realise the importance.

To be fair, everyone i have met, apart from the anaesthetist (!!!), has been lovely.

gillgran Fri 19-Sept-25 13:27:49

I do hope that our dear soop is getting the care needed, thinking of all of you, especially those with extra worries. x

Sorry, I don't always mention everyone's name, but do think of you all. x
Utbb, flowers

(Early) ‘Evening All’.

Well we’ve had the bestest day in a very LONG time. I held Himself’s hand (still bit light headed at times after sepsis and has very low blood pressure plus started on pregabalin last night for nerve pain) and we strolled around the square THREE times! He said his legs felt strong. Then he suggested we pop into the Loungers Bar below us where he ate a small bowl of soup with a slice of buttered toast (crusts not allowed).

I don’t expect any degree of linear recovery but any step in the right direction fills me with joy. This has been the most normal day we’ve had since May. I’m so happy to share my good news with all you lovely cheerleaders. x

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 19-Sept-25 16:35:28

That's lovely news FGT2! Onwards and upwards.

I had a small filling at the dentist this morning. He is such a gentle dentist - Portuegese - and charming too. I didn't really need local anaesthetic but I'm a wimp so he popped some in. Consequently, I'm always left feeling a big lightheaded after local anaesthetic. It's an easy dinner tonight. I'll fry some salmon in oil and butter and serve it with new potatoes and peas and some sort of Marie Rose sauce which I'll cobble together.

I hope Soop is feeling better and enjoying scrable with Mr Soop!

It is getting towards evening now so have a good one!

GrandmaC47 Fri 19-Sept-25 16:41:30

How lovely, FGT. Hope to hear better news from Soop and Blossoming.

Can I say hello to everyone in the new kitchen? (Thank you Mamaa) I read this lovely thread every day and wish all in the kitchen and quiet corner a peaceful time, free at least for a while, from pain and worries.

Redcar Fri 19-Sept-25 17:14:23

fgt so pleased that you’ve been able to have a normal day! I hope you’ll have many more of them.

utbb I’m sorry you’ve had such a difficult week, hopefully things will improve soon.

hulahoop a shame that your Golden Wedding plans have had to be changed, grandchildren are such little germ bombs aren’t they!
Enjoy the rest of the day everyone.

baubles Fri 19-Sept-25 17:15:07

Hello all, I pop into the kitchen now and again to see how soop is doing. I always feel that I can’t keep up with everyone’s news and hate to not acknowledge important events.

Thoughts to kitty, Neine, sueD and utbb.
thanks for you all.

Thank you for your heartwarming post FGT, I’m so pleased for you.

Grandmabatty Fri 19-Sept-25 17:18:55

That's so good to hear FGT. I'm happy that your dear man is having a good day. I wish him many more.
I had a lovely lunch with dd and ds in Linlithgow which is a charming small town. Ds came from St Andrews where he's been on holiday for a few days and he brought cakes from an amazing bakery (Fisher and Donaldson). I had a strawberry tart. Tonight I'm having a small lasagne courtesy of dd. Tesco will deliver in about an hour and then that'll be me for the evening. I hope you all have a good evening Kitcheners

cornergran Fri 19-Sept-25 17:39:13

Super news fgt. A day to treasure.

A rough week does push us towards the ‘what ifs’ utbb. On bad pain days or after family troubles I sometimes look back and think oh dear, why did we do that. Then I remind myself we can only make decisions with the information we have at the time. It usually (sometimes!) works smile. Hope you can relax this evening.

It’s been hard for you too neine and kitty. I’ve had a miserable week after Monday, lots of eye pain. Onwards and upwards for us all with luck.

TOYA

Such lovely news FGT I’m so pleased for you both
Hoping SueD has also had some positive news today🤞
Lovely to see so many here in the kitchen, both our regular posters and those who read and sit in the quiet corner. Like Baubles said, it’s difficult to keep up with everyone’s news but it doesn’t really matter as we’re all here for each other when needed.
So pleased you’ve had a lovely birthday grandmabatty with both your children, precious times and happy memories made ❤️

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 19-Sept-25 19:32:52

I keep popping back to see whether there’s any news from SueDonim. 🤞

Lovely news fgt

Grannmarie Fri 19-Sept-25 19:57:01

Sounds like a perfect birthday with your family, Grandmabatty! Linlithgow is one of my favourite wee towns. Years ago, I used to take DGS1 and DGD there after school pick up for a wee walk along the Loch with Granddog, then ice cream from the famous shop. Happy memories. 💕

YiaYia, good luck to your DGS, he'll love it! DGS1 has just started his second year at uni, time flies!

Thinking of Kitty, Neine, Cornergran, Blossoming and all who are suffering. Hope next week is brighter for you, UsedToBeBlonde. Hoping for good news for SueD, Dragonfly and their DHs**Redcar, I hope your back feels better today, well done on your yoga class!
Love and prayers for all who need/ wish them. 💕🙏🕯

Many congratulations on your Golden Wedding anniversary Hulahoop and DH. 🥂 💐💕

Great to hear of your happy day FGT, wishing you both many, many more. 💕

Hello 👋 and welcome to Grannyme6, whywhywhy and all our new friends in Soop's special Kitchen. I agree with brook's wise words, we are all here for each other when needed.

Hoping Soop and her wonderful man are cosy and comfy this evening, enjoying each others company.💕

Last night, DSIS2 and I drove east to see DGD in Chicago, her youth theatre group show. It was very well done and she really enjoyed taking part. Proud Gran!!💕 Today I drove west for the Wee Boy's school pick up, playtime and pizza night when his Mummy and Daddy finished work. Happy times. 🥰

Forgive me if I haven't mentioned you by name but I have read all your posts now and I am thinking of you all. Wishing everyone a peaceful Friday evening and a good night's sleep TOYA, NNGB

Usedtobeblonde Fri 19-Sept-25 19:59:06

Hope for positive news from SueDonim.
I am already in bed reading, I am so tired.Have the best evening and night you can everyone.

Jaxjacky Fri 19-Sept-25 20:37:49

We got back from Cornwall about 5:30, a good time there, but the drive home was punctuated with traffic jams, how dare people be on holiday when we are!!
I’m tired, MrJ is at bowls, he drove too, so must be worn out.
I’ll catch up with kitcheners tomorrow properly, but must say a Whoopee! to FGT and himself 🌻
