Hello Kitcheners- hope you don't mind and apologies if a new kitchen has already been opened elsewhere but I couldn't find it if there has... I've done my best but it still needs a few throws and cushions to make it more homely, ready for the nights drawing in and chillier evenings. Some freshly baked scones, jam and cream on the side if you fancy a treat.
I hope you dont think it presumptious of me to start this kitchen as I don't post as regularly as some of you but do find Soops Kitchen a lovely place to drop into even if I've nothing to say.

Thanks Bagggs. Sending love to the Soops. 💐

Thank you baggs. I know you will pass on our love and very best wishes to the soops.

Thank you Baggs let’s hope the transfusion does its job, I'm pleased standards aren’t slipping with her helpers!

Usedtobeblonde Tue 07-Oct-25 17:10:08

Very best wishes to soop in the hope that the blood transfusion makes her feel a bit better and with more energy and thanks to Baggs for being our messenger.
I know you have been close to Soop for along time and it must upset you to see her so unwell.
Also it must bring your own family into your thoughts constantly.
Not an easy time for you.

Grandmadinosaur Tue 07-Oct-25 17:27:12

Thank you for the update baggs please pass on my very best wishes for her treatment and tell her we miss her in the kitchen. 💐

Grandmabatty Tue 07-Oct-25 17:27:46

Thank you Baggs please send my love to Soop.
I have been quite lazy today apart from picking up and dropping off the boys. I did tidy the kitchen so that's something. And began to order Christmas presents. Dgs1 was a wee star today despite being covered in mud. He will play football at school. Dgs2 was temperamental today with screaming and foot stamping if he didn't get his own way. And he definitely didn't get his own way! I've dropped them off at home and I'm having a seat before making dinner. I have a delivery due tonight of Halloween decals for the school library windows which I hope to put up tomorrow. The tumble dryer is on with a little load for dd. I hope you are all well. I'm thinking of Fgt and her dear man. Have a good evening Kitcheners

Thank you, Baggs, for the update on the Soops.

Like GrannyGravy, I feel that the kitchen isn't quite the same without Soop, but I'm pleased to hear that she's being well looked after.

Please pass on my love with everyone else's.

Love and caring thoughts to everyone who is working through medical problems.

Thank you Baggs for updating us on our dearest Soop, sending much love to her and to you too
I’ve enjoyed a busy day today volunteering, it was a bit stressful this afternoon due to a mix up on location, I ended up being late but it wasn’t my fault. I was waiting at the prearranged place in plenty of time but they’d changed the location without telling the right people - it was all ok in the end though
I reckon the school library will look great with the Halloween decorations grandmabatty, they’re lucky to have you

Doodle Tue 07-Oct-25 19:32:26

Please pass on my love and best wishes to the Soops too Baggs

TillyTrotter Tue 07-Oct-25 19:50:53

Bless soop she has her standards and thankfully the cleaner is meeting them😊
I hope the transfusion gives a better quality of life to dear soop.
Lots of caring thoughts to her and Mr soop.
And to you Baggs for kindly passing on news to kitcheners 💐

Redcar Tue 07-Oct-25 19:55:36

baggs thank you for the update on the soops. I hope that soop will feel a little better after her blood transfusion. The kitchen isn’t quite the same without her! Please give her my love.
I’ve had a very quiet day today. I had my Covid jab this morning, so far so good, fingers crossed it stays that way! I visited my dementia friend this afternoon.
My back has been extremely painful since the weekend when I sat down in an armchair that was a lot lower than I expected. I’ve probably strained muscles, which will improve in time. Unfortunately I have a busy few days coming up so have to be careful how I move around. I don’t feel I can drive at the moment, so will be relying on taxis for now. My DDs would help, but both are very busy at work for a few weeks so can’t do anything to help me. I hope one of them will put-the electric blanket on my bed at the weekend!
Best wishes to everyone for a good night’s sleep tonight. TOYA.

Thank you for the update Baggs, dear Soop is never far from my thoughts x

cornergran Tue 07-Oct-25 20:40:17

Thank you for updating us baggs. Please pass my love to both soops.

I’ve been thinking about fgt and her incredibly brave husband and wish them both well

I’m pleased you are enjoying happy moments blossoming. Here’s hoping for brightness in each day for us all

TOYA

SueDonim Tue 07-Oct-25 21:28:46

The Kitchen is so busy, I don’t have a hope of catching up with everyone. Please be assured, I may not mention you all, but I do think of all my friends on here. ❤️

Blossoming what a lovely photo, I can almost feel the autumn air.
Thank you, Baggs for the news of our lovely Soop. I am glad her at-home needs are being addressed and I hope the transfusion peps her up.
I hope FGT’s lovely man has come through his new treatment with the minimum of side effects. It’s always daunting to be given a new, very powerful drug.
Redcar can you take ibuprofen? I swear by the long acting version which you can buy in shops. I find it works within 20-30 mins and you only need it twice a day. Obvs, it’s a no-no if you can’t tolerate ibuprofen, of course.

I hope all those with worries and concerns are seeing some daylight ahead. It’s a heavy load to have to carry with us.

Life has been busy here. Dh is keeping well enough in this period of stability in his illness, though I’m not sure he’ll ever be what he was. Ds1 hopes to begin a new immunotherapy trial soon. He was telling me that governmental funding for trials of new drugs and treatments has recently been withdrawn by R Kennedy/Trump’s administration so now patients are reliant on manufacturers and philanthropy to fund the search for cures for their diseases of all kinds. angry

My youngest GC was four the other day. He had a wild party when all 30-odd of his nursery classmates turned up! grin Then we had a birthday tea with the family on his actual birthday, which was fun. We met up with friends from down south at the weekend, they were on a visit to Scotland. Tomorrow DS2 arrives for a few days so we’re being kept out of mischief, for sure!

TOYA. Xxx

Thank you so much Baggs for keeping us updated on soop. I am sorry to hear she is so weak and hope the infusion helps.

brook2704 Tue 07-Oct-25 22:27:53

Lovely to hear from you SueD and read all your news, special thoughts with your DH and DS. Look after yourself too ❤️

Redcar Tue 07-Oct-25 22:29:09

sueDonim I hadn’t heard about the long acting ibuprofen before. I take the ordinary ibuprofen tablets along with paracetamol and they help a bit. I’ll see if I can get the other type. Thank you for the tip!

Nannytopsy Wed 08-Oct-25 05:11:12

Another middle of the night post!
Thank you Baggs for updating us and passing on our love to the soops. I hope she feels the benefit of her transfusion. I always think of her as I plough through the ironing. I don’t understand how two people create so much! I think my dislike of man made fabrics is a possible cause.
The gardener will be here at 9am so we will spend the morning gardening together. Evening is a WI meeting with a talk from an auctioneer from the local auction house, as seen on Bargain Hunt. The competition is “an inherited antique” so my Nan’s engagement ring I think. It’s very pretty which surprises me - she was big and practical, not dainty at all.
Hope you and yours have a good day tomorrow, particularly those having treatment.

A very quick pop in
FGT...I hope yesterday went well for your darling man and that they will be lots more opportunities to make memories with your lovely family.

Redcar... I'm sorry to read your news about your Godmother...an amazing age to reach and Thank God a life well lived. May she rest in peace.

GG13...I admire your restraint in dealing with such utter ignorance. One of my DGS's is on the spectrum and it is very hard as a Grandparent let alone a parent to come to terms with the fact that life for them will be different.

Grannytopsy...I feel for you re your hip op. My hip revision op is now at the stage of having a specialised scan to ascertain how best to proceed to put right what was done at the original op. I won't be able to have it done at the moment even if they give me date in the next two months due to the wound on my leg which apparently can take 4 months to heal.

Baggs...please add my love to the list to send to Soop, how wonderful that her standards are being maintained.

Yia.... I'm so glad you had a great time in your special place and with your boys too.

SueD...fingers crossed and lots of prayers that your DH continues to be'well' and that your sons new treatment is successful too.

UTBB...Be kind to yourself, if you really can't face travelling then don't...sometimes we just know in our hearts that it isn't going to be a good idea and sometimes we push ourselves and are then surprised when things turn out far better than we thought.. Whichever you decide make sure it will be the right decision for you and only you.

Thinking of you all. The last week has been a bit of a blur...wound became infected ( I think the GP is regretting not prescribing antibiotics much earlier) I'm on very strong ones now that make you feel horrible...the only plus side is that having no appetite I may even shift some of those 7lbs over the recommended weight as told by the Bio Bank 2 weeks ago.
Watch this space.

Hope you’re feeling better soon Neine x

Charleygirl5 Wed 08-Oct-25 15:37:35

Thanks Baggs as always. soop is fortunate she appears to have carers who care and is also lucky to have a decent cleaning lady. I hope she will have more strength after her transfusion.

mamaa Wed 08-Oct-25 16:59:57

Thank you Baggs for posting the update on our Soops and I too hope the infusion helps Soop feel better.
Thinking of all who for whatever reason are in the quiet corner💐x

brook2704 Wed 08-Oct-25 18:05:21

Lovely to see you Neine and hope you’re feeling better soon
I’ve had a busy day, the best bit was a riverside walk from the gym back in town seeing the beautiful autumn colours. Lots of crunchy leaves underfoot and many leaves still falling from the trees - simple pleasures but so enjoyable
I rarely iron nannytopsy, just the occasional item that I can’t get away with …
Hoping Soop is doing ok and thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x

Blossoming Wed 08-Oct-25 18:08:02

Good evening dear Kitcheners. I have had a full day with an hour’s walk along the river this morning and a trip to Lytham in the car this afternoon. We enjoyed a walk along the very blustery seafront in the sunshine, we definitely had roses in our cheeks by the time we got back to the car!

Pleased to see your update SueD, hoping for a positive outcome for you and yours.

I have had some good news, the stairlift will be fitted on 14th October, and my respite finishes on 17th October, so all will be in place when I get home.

TOYA as always xx

GrandmaC47 Wed 08-Oct-25 19:04:14

Glad you got to Lytham, Blossming.
I’ve had a day of days. I cut my hand quite badly opening a tin at lunchtime. It bled copiously, I managed to get plaster on to stem most of the flow. Fortunately DD 2 came at four to collect dgd. DD2 is a first aider and cleaned it and applied steri strips and a dressing. She’ll call tomorrow morning and redress it and decide if I need to see a Doctor.
A minor thing compared to a lot of the kitchen folk who have mountains to climb.
