Hello Kitcheners- hope you don't mind and apologies if a new kitchen has already been opened elsewhere but I couldn't find it if there has... I've done my best but it still needs a few throws and cushions to make it more homely, ready for the nights drawing in and chillier evenings. Some freshly baked scones, jam and cream on the side if you fancy a treat.
I hope you dont think it presumptious of me to start this kitchen as I don't post as regularly as some of you but do find Soops Kitchen a lovely place to drop into even if I've nothing to say.

Hello Kitcheners. Now safely back in the U.K after a lovely holiday. We had a great time and having the boys was a bonus.
Last week we made a mercy mission to save a kitten. He was living outside the house.Such a little character and very friendly. He became very poorly and I contacted the local charities, they arranged for the vet to see him and he was given injections. The next day A lady from the charity collected him and took him home to care for him.So impressed these charities work tirelessly to save the animals.

DH really enjoyed being back in Corfu and managed to do most things. The good news, the bowel cancer scans were good so great news, however the concern is his liver. They are trying to get his platelets down to have a biopsy.I don’t know if he can have any treatment,we will see.

Thinking of you FGT ❤️

Nannytopsy hope your GS heals quickly.Have a lovely holiday.🇬🇷🇬🇷

Grannmarie enjoy your holiday🥂

I will now bore you with the last few photos.

UTBB that sounds like your snug will be very cosy. Enjoy!
DGS seems ok in himself. I think he is going back to school tomorrow - the other boy will not be there.
DD and her little crew have just left, so we are having a quiet 5 minutes with a coffee. Then we can clear up! The littlest (21 months) has started taking off her clothes, including nappy, with inevitable consequences!

Grandmabatty Sun 12-Oct-25 18:54:21

Good evening Kitcheners. Utbb that sounds like you will have a cosy room just for you. Nannytopsy I was sad to hear about your wee dgs. I hope he recovers quickly. Yiayia fingers crossed for your dh.
Today I've done a little more than last week. Hoovered and tidied up. I picked up some loose stuff in the garden. Then I made lentil soup in the slow cooker, a pot of ratatouille and a pot of stovies. I did half an hour's Spanish too. However I still haven't ironed nor tackled the dining room! I'm a bit annoyed at myself. Tomorrow is early childcare day then I'm dropping the boys off at their other grandparents at lunchtime while I go to Edinburgh for my test results. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday

Good luck tomorrow Grandmabatty. Could you please post your soup recipe, I know you have done it before, I lost it.
Mixed news Yia, those pictures are not boring!
Curtains will definitely make you snug utbb, it’s certainly time for it.
The sun reluctantly appeared about 3pm, so the bedding didn’t dry, but it’s aired, swede mk2 was successful, no burning!
No luck in today’s meat draw, time for others to win she said magnanimously 🙂

I hope you get good news tomorrow Grandmabatty always an anxious time.
It has been dull here all day and tonight is very misty.
We didn’t have any joy in the curtain search as because the window is wall to wall and then right up to the ceiling, it is an extension to the original room, it is only suitable for a pinch pleat heading and I am not really keen.
We have to find some compromise in how a rail is fitted.
It left me quite depressed about it but a very first world problem and not serious.
We have just had a nice roast beef dinner thanks to M&S simply food, some things ready made and just a small amount of prep and cooking.
A small glass of red for me, the other two had water.
Now getting ready to go to bed , flu jab tomorrow afternoon.
Have the best night you can everyone.

Redcar Sun 12-Oct-25 20:38:17

I hope your results are satisfactory tomorrow grandmabatty.
Lovely photo's yiayia, pleased your DH had some good results and hope a biopsy also gives good results.
utbb a shame you couldn’t find any suitable curtains for your snug. Your roast dinner sounds good, I must investigate M&S food!
nannytopsy your DGS is very brave to go back to school so quickly after the attack.
Have a peaceful evening everyone.

Hoping for good news tomorrow grandmabatty
Beautiful photos Yia pleased you’re home safely
It’s been a good day here, we’ve all been outside in DD1s new garden, tidying up a bit and moving various pots and ornaments about. Both DGSs had football matches so we dropped them off and then went to the local garden centre for a few bits and some bulbs. I’m travelling back home tomorrow, there’s no rush though as it’s an early evening flight from Luton.
Hoping you find a curtain solution ok uttb
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x

Jaxjacky Sun 12-Oct-25 22:07:51

My flu jab tomorrow afternoon too utbb 👍

Grandmabatty Mon 13-Oct-25 06:07:09

Jaxjacky Lentil soup:
2 litres of warm stock. I used two chicken stock pots/cubes and two ham ones.
300 grams of lentils.
2 potatoes, cubed.
2 stick of celery, diced.
3 carrots. I usually grate them all but occasionally dice two and grate one.
1 leek chopped small.
Chuck it in the slow cooker and leave for at least six hours on low.

Biopsy results are good. No further action required. I'm a happy bunny
Grannmarie I hope Switzerland is treating you well.

That’s good news grandmab. You can sleep well tonight.

Redcar Mon 13-Oct-25 19:41:19

That’s really good news grandmabatty, celebrations this evening?🥂
A very grey day here today, so your news is cheering!
A friend called round this afternoon to see how I am, which was kind of her. I did an eConsult to the surgery this afternoon, but I doubt there’s anything that can be done for my chronic back pain. I know it will get better on its own , just wish it would hurry up!!
I’ll be in the quiet corner for a while, as I’m leading a very boring life at the moment.
Thinking of all with mountains to climb.

Usedtobeblonde Mon 13-Oct-25 20:03:18

Good news for some Grandmabatty but still not good for others.
Redcar I can sympathise with your painful back, I suffer from that, just wear and tear says the GP.
Actually degenerative changes in the lower back but we know what he means.
I went for my flu jab this afternoon, very organised for once, proper appointments, no queues and I was offered my Covid one as well.
I hivered and hovered but decided to go for it.
I have had them separately other years but bit the bullet today.
Both in the same arm as I have no lymph nodes in my right and you are warned about having nothing done it.
So far, so good, not even a twinge, I hope I am not speaking too soon.
I was very pleased with myself because I went on my scooter saving taxi fairs there and back.
I am going to bed to read now and hope you all have a pleasant evening.

Usedtobeblonde Mon 13-Oct-25 20:04:12

So very pleased for you, Grandmabatty!

Grandmabatty Mon 13-Oct-25 21:54:25

You are all very kind. Thank you. I'm very much aware that there would be ladies today getting bad news. I'm one of the lucky ones.

dragonfly46 Mon 13-Oct-25 22:21:14

Great news GrandmaBatty.

Grannmarie Mon 13-Oct-25 23:48:19

The best news, Grandmabatty, I've been thinking of you today. Peace of mind is priceless.
We've only got WiFi in the hotel, so just catching up now as we've been out all day.
Switzerland 🇨🇭 is beautiful, if a bit overcast, not like YiaYia's beautiful blue skies. Great news about your DH!

We did the bus tour today, boat trip booked for tomorrow. Wined and dined very well!

TOYA, NNGB.
