A dear friend’s family are walking your prostate cancer journey at this time.
He is 61, no age as we say.
His prognosis is encouraging but the effect on his family is devastating.
They cannot see beyond the diagnosis.
Those of us who have been there know just what they and our dear friends here are going through.
It is a dreadful time, to be endured and lived through.
The description of nodding to fellow travellers and sitting there hour after hour is something we recognise.
Mt most sincere thought kindest wishes go to you all.

Thank you to everyone for your compassion and understanding. It overwhelms me at times - the kindness of strangers. To be honest I’m wary when I post anything because I’d so hate to monopolise the thread. I do very much appreciate your support but please, do continue to share about your own daily doings. Everyone’s contribution is meaningful.

I’m just home. My lovely brother in law comes to the ward for a visit every evening and brings me home. I appreciate this lovely man more than words can say. He has been with us, every appointment, every admission, for two and a half years now. Angels walk amongst us that’s for sure.

I really feel for you FGT. Thank you for sharing your experiences I can feel it more keenly today.
I wonder at how you can find some positivity in such dire circumstances.

I’m hoping FGT isn’t making that ward walk again today and himself is home now.
It’s was hammering down with rain here in S Hants for a good few hours earlier, eased now, very autumnal.
We went to the meat draw in the local, surprisingly busy, we didn’t win.
Gammon in the slow cooker should be ready in the next 10 minutes, veg too.
I hope you’ve all had a decent day.

It’s been raining for a while here too, but thin it may have stopped now. Quite breezy but not cold. Both DDs called in at different times, good to see them both.
Batch cooked some mince with onions and mushrooms, ready to make into cottage pies, but will freeze them until I’m ready. Making the most of half price electricity, I did two machine loads of washing and tumbled them dry. I probably saved about 25p!
Enjoy the evening everyone. Thinking of all those with mountains to climb.

It’s been raining most of the day here too, very grey and overcast
Helped DD2 with a few jobs this morning, then home at lunchtime. Then this afternoon I’ve been cleaning, changing bedding and getting a few menus ready as DHs eldest son is visiting us for a few days this coming week with his 11 year old son. It’ll be lovely to see them and we’re both really looking forward to it. I hope the weather improves a bit!

Hello dear Kitchen pals, we are starting to get into a routine, just taking it slowly. We have been out for two walks today, got drenched on the second one but we were soon home, warm and dry again.

We’ve had a lot of rain too in Oxfordshire. There is still a hosepipe ban.

OH and I had a great time at our pottery workshop. We each made two pots using the coiling method.

Then a delicious Sunday lunch.

Back home we watched episode three of Nine Bodies in a Mexican morgue.

Sleep 💤 tight. I’m thinking of FGT2.

Good evening all, I’m really tired after an active day but feeling good. MrB and I went to Lytham this morning and had a lovely seaside walk. The tide was in and we spotted quite a few birds, including this little group of turnstones who didn’t want to get their feet wet! We also stopped at the village butcher for some goodies, will be enjoying chicken for tea. This afternoon we had another walk down to the Dock gates and back.

We have The Imp here for a sleepover as he has an 8am school start on Mondays and it gives DD a break. As we have his big brother every Thursday for a sleepover our nights out are fewer 🤷‍♀️

Blossoming I used to live in Lytham. My son was born in St. Annes Hospital. Last year I revisited Lytham, having left almost 60 years ago. Lytham is just as lovely as I remember. Tomlinson's Chemist is still there. I used to park my Silver Cross pram outside the left hand side window when I went in to buy things for my baby boy.

And my baby's first outing in his pram was a walk on the Green to the windmill.

I'm sending lots of love and prayers to our many friends in this special Kitchen who are caring for loved ones who are seriously ill, or who are suffering themselves. My heart goes out to each and every one of you in your difficult days. I'm really missing our wonderful Soop, hoping and praying that she is cosy and comfortable, and that she and her devoted MrSoop are still enjoying games of Scrabble, and their beautiful sunsets.

Also praying for Himself and FGT2, hoping they are reunited soon. Thinking of SueD's menfolk, YiaYia and Dragonfly, Spottybook and Septima and all our friends who are worried about their loved ones. Try to remember to look after yourselves too. Please forgive me if I haven't mentioned you by name but I have read all your posts now and I'm thinking of you all. 💕🙏🕯

Grandmabatty, I hope you have your feet up now after an early start with your wee boys.

Blossoming, you have great stamina, managing two walks in a day, well done you! I love hearing about your outings with MrB. My right hip and thigh are still throbbing after all our walking in Geneva. On Friday I had a jammies day, only attended to my holiday washing.

I drove up to visit DGS1 and Grandpup on Saturday. It was good to see them. I took in fish suppers from the best chip shop in their town, it's always queued out the door. We thoroughly enjoyed our Saturday night tea and it was nice to have him to myself for a wee while, the family are on holiday.DGS1 has Uni, second year now.

On Sunday after Mass I was visiting the sick. As well as my usual home visits, I had two hospital visits, both dear friends of mine who took ill while we were away. They are being well looked after, hopefully they will recover and go home soon.

Today I woke up coughing with a sore head...I don't know if it came from the plane or the hospital, but I did a Covid test and it's clear. Hopefully it won't last long. 🙏🤞

Lovely memories Aldom. It’s very much my go to place when I need to blow away the cobwebs. I hope it doesn’t change too much😊

Blossoming and Aldom I remember day trips to Lytham in our Morris Minor family car when I was a child, my mum used to love it there. We used to live in Manchester in those days so it wasn’t that far to drive but always a full day out. I’ve probably got pictures somewhere too. I think there was a cafe we all used to go in with lovely ice creams - happy memories!
We’re just about ready for our visitors arriving tomorrow, fridge is full and fresh bedding and towels. They’re vegetarian so I’ve had to rethink a few of our go to recipies but decided on a tomato & broccoli cheesy pasta bake and vegetarian chilli, rice & jacket potatoes. I’ve also made a big pot of grandmabattys lentil soup ( minus the ham stock cube) so we’ll have that for lunch tomorrow with those bake at home mini baguettes. I’ve had a busy day and I’m ready for an early night tonight
