Hello Kitcheners- hope you don't mind and apologies if a new kitchen has already been opened elsewhere but I couldn't find it if there has... I've done my best but it still needs a few throws and cushions to make it more homely, ready for the nights drawing in and chillier evenings. Some freshly baked scones, jam and cream on the side if you fancy a treat.
I hope you dont think it presumptious of me to start this kitchen as I don't post as regularly as some of you but do find Soops Kitchen a lovely place to drop into even if I've nothing to say.

He’s beautiful Yia, I can see many years of feline cuddles ahead 🐈

Grandmabatty Sat 25-Oct-25 17:36:36

Aw Yiayia he's a gorgeous kitty. Happy days together ahead. brook it's been very cold here today too. Time for winter clothing to come out. I've been pottering about today. Lots of resting my dodgy leg then doing some cleaning in between. So at least I feel I have achieved something. Leftovers chicken curry tonight. It was really tasty. Jaxjacky I'll try it again.
Have a good evening Kitcheners

Jaxjacky Sat 25-Oct-25 18:05:13

I put my thermal top on today Granmabatty
Pretty kitten Yia.
Well done on your walks Yia, I intended to go out, but after washing floors and wiping down kitchen units I read the paper instead.
MrJ played bowls, his team won, we have a curry in the slow cooker for later.
Have a gentle evening all.

Cold here too with a stiff northerly breeze. I went for a walk this morning, with a coat and gloves on.
Changed the sheets and put the 10.5 tog duvet on the bed so I’ll probably be hot tonight.
DD1 and family called in this afternoon and righted a number of pots and the slide that had blown over during the recent gale.
yiayia I hope your kitten arrives safely, he looks very sweet.
Thanks for the lovely photo blossoming, well done for doing two walks!
I’ve put the battery clocks back already, I have too many! I’ve probably missed at least one! I wonder if my now digital landline phone will change itself!
Night night everyone, I hope we all have a good nights’ sleep!

GrannySomerset Sat 25-Oct-25 21:46:01

Yes, Redcar, I have just adjusted the kitchen clock and the clocks on oven and microwave and stopped the grandfather clock till tomorrow when I must remember to restart it. Just two watches left because everything else changes the hour automatically. Still miss DH whose job it was to do this.

It was so lovely to read lots of upbeat posts...long may the good times keep going for everyone in Soop's kitchen.
Granmarie... I'm glad you are starting to feel better, it sounds horrible. Don't do what I always do and go mad and start cleaning etc as soon as I feel a bit better and end up setting myself back poorly again...

Blossoming... You are doing fantastically ...home now and back to your daily walks. There nothing like being in your own bed and some fresh air is there?

Redcar...I hope you are able to sort out your affairs, these things seem to take an age and it's such a relief when it's completed. I haven't resorted to gloves yet but any day now as my hands were freezing yesterday. The rest of me was toastie in my new coatigan from Costco...it is so soft I have to stop myself from stroking it like an adult comforter or feelie as DD3 called hers. She still had her when I last saw her....she was very very tatty but still tucked under her pillow. That memory has made me well up a bit. Hey ho

Corner, Fingers crossed you can go back to the new centre next time you need the injections,

Brook... You've inspired me to get back to the gym this week. I haven't been able to go because of the wound on my leg, I've had to have a compression bandage on to encourage healing but I think it's far enough along now that I might be able to go. I'm seeing the nurse on Tuesday so I'll ask her.

Yia...what a sweet little kitten... He is going to have a wonderful life. Keep us posted on how he gets on.

Well done MrJ on his teams win, is it indoors Jax?
Llfl.. enjoy your days with your Granddaughter... precious times.
FGT... I'm off to Mass shortly and I'll be praying for good news tomorrow for himself and strength for you dear lady.

I nearly had to be dragged out of bed this morning...A quick visit to Dunelm yesterday to pick up some deep depth fitted sheets resulted in a beautiful duvet set ( brushed cotton Oooh) and an equally beautiful quilted throw and Oxford pillowcases throwing themselves into the trolley and DH making up the bed with them all to surprise me as I was in so much pain. It was lush, I fell in and although I started to listen to my Pray as you go app I didn't get to the end of it ( and it's only 10 minutes or so) 🤣🤣🤣....and I had an extra hour in bed too.
I know I've forgotten peeps but if I scroll back to the previous page I'll lose this post but I'm wishing everyone a happy day.

I may have to have a siesta later....

Thank you for the lovely photos Neine, that bed looks ready to fall into!

brook2704 Sun 26-Oct-25 17:13:42

Hi kitchen pals, I’ve just closed the curtains as it’s dark here already, the heating is on, I’ve a comfy blanket on the sofa and the candles are lit. It’s lovely and warm and cosy but what a long evening ahead with nothing much to do 😕. Today has been rain and more rain, didn’t get out at all but hoping for a much better day tomorrow.
That bed looks so lovely and comfy neine, thanks for the picture and hope you’re passed fit enough for the gym!
Thinking of our Soop and hoping all is well
Gentle hugs to all in the quiet corner ❤️

Blossoming Sun 26-Oct-25 17:46:11

Good evening kitchen pals. The weather has been awful here all day so we put on the big coats and went for our usual morning and afternoon walks. We got drenched but we enjoyed it anyway grin
I’m snuggled up in warm leggings and Oodie now, it’s pitch dark out and I’m warm and sleepy.
TOYA ♥️

Jaxjacky Sun 26-Oct-25 18:13:13

Hi all, it’s been drizzling for the last couple of hours and cold, no luck in the meat draw.
Beautiful cover neine.
You’ll remember Imogen our granddaughter, she’s doing so well on medication for epilepsy and autism, college now, university is her aim. Not so many years ago it wouldn’t have been possible.

Jaxjacky Sun 26-Oct-25 18:14:06

Rats.

Grandmadinosaur Sun 26-Oct-25 18:14:39

Evening everyone in the kitchen and quiet corner.

Gosh what a long day it seems to be.

It’s been a pleasant one for us. After a challenging week last week we decided to come out to our holiday lodge for a couple of days to recharge our batteries. We were lucky enough to have a bright sunny day but it turned to drizzle mid afternoon. We stopped off en route in Beverley for a breakfast at our favourite deli cafe. Then this afternoon we went to a food and craft fair at a nearby stately home. The drive up to it is wonderful. It’s a long road towards the centre of the house. Every time we drive there DH says it feels like you should be driving up in a carriage like we are in a costume drama. The fair had a Halloween theme and I bought several items. One lovely lady had a stall selling her home made knitted items. I bought 3 knitted headbands and a fabulous well made bag. It came to £18.50 I gave her £20 said I didn’t want change and says she should charge a bit more. Home now and awaiting the Strictly result show. I do know the result hmmm.

That bedding looks so cosy Neine one of the wins of winter.

Fingers crossed for FGT2 and himself tomorrow

Hoping the soops are cosy and as well as they can be.

Sending thoughts to all other poorlies 💐

Sorry for long post.

Grandmabatty Sun 26-Oct-25 18:15:28

brook I know that feeling. It has been cold here today and the sky was dark much too early. You sound cosy. Neine I love your bed. The quilt and the colours are gorgeous. Blossoming you sound very cosy too.
I've made lentil soup in the slow cooker and had mashed swede, potatoes and mince pie for dinner. I managed to do the ironing too so I feel fairly virtuous. Grannmarie I hope you are getting better. It's a particularly nasty strain of covid. I suspect I will have an early night (early childcare day tomorrow). Enjoy your evening Kitcheners
