Hello Kitcheners- hope you don't mind and apologies if a new kitchen has already been opened elsewhere but I couldn't find it if there has... I've done my best but it still needs a few throws and cushions to make it more homely, ready for the nights drawing in and chillier evenings. Some freshly baked scones, jam and cream on the side if you fancy a treat.
I hope you dont think it presumptious of me to start this kitchen as I don't post as regularly as some of you but do find Soops Kitchen a lovely place to drop into even if I've nothing to say.

Very pleased to hear your encouraging news FGT

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 27-Oct-25 20:47:25

Thank you for your understanding cornergran. I will try very hard to match the bravery of my husband. x

Redcar Mon 27-Oct-25 20:57:39

Encouraging news fgt there is hope for your DH.
blossoming well done for your walks today, good that you are getting stronger.
I walked round to the post office this morning (maybe 3/4 of a mile round trip), but struggled against the wind. My back was tired when I got home but I feel it is gradually healing.
DD1 has borrowed my car for a few weeks until theirs can be repaired. It’s much older and more basic than theirs, but it started first time this morning when I tried it out!
Have a pleasant evening everyone and a good nights sleep.

Be scared as much as you like with us. FGT, if it helps.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 27-Oct-25 21:42:05

It does kitty. It really does.

dragonfly46 Mon 27-Oct-25 22:16:09

I get you are scared FGT. This is something totally outside your control. At least your DH is so positive and that is half the battle.

mamaa Mon 27-Oct-25 22:18:18

Group hug time for FGT and anyone else who’d like to join in?
Sending my good wishes that Himself responds well to this next step and in so doing it helps to lessen FGTs anxiety a little bit xx.

TillyTrotter Mon 27-Oct-25 22:21:40

Pleased you have a treatment plan in place fgt
and Himself is strong enough to fight on

Wonderfully optimistic news FTG. You and your DH are always in my thoughts and prayers. I check into the kitchen and the morning thread daily for news of you and a few others. My prayers are for Soop as well

Naughtyneine Tue 28-Oct-25 00:02:19

Big girl knickers today FGT....weenie thongs tomorrow...you are doing this brave lady and all of Soop's kitchen is doing it with you.♥️

gillgran Tue 28-Oct-25 09:20:21

I spotted a group hug on here, ( thank you mamaa), good idea, much needed.
Warm thoughts for you all. x

Nannytopsy Tue 28-Oct-25 10:15:01

I will join in the group hug too. It’s a good job it’s virtual or you would all get my streaming cold. I just hope it isn’t COVID.

Grannmarie Tue 28-Oct-25 11:06:45

Oh, I hope not, Nannytopsy, this episode of Covid has knocked the stuffing out of me. I tested negative yesterday but I'm still in bed this morning, so very tired.

Thank you for the group hug Mamaa, just what I needed. Thinking of the FGTS today as they take the next steps on this road they did not choose. 💕🙏🕯

Nannytopsy Tue 28-Oct-25 13:07:11

Covid test negative - phew! I suppose I had better get dressed then and get on with the ironing 😅

Blossoming Tue 28-Oct-25 14:08:33

Glad the test was negative Nannytopsy .

mamaa Tue 28-Oct-25 16:15:57

Phew indeed, * NannyT*.
I keep forgetting to buy a few tests- just threw the last ones out- I’d bought them off Amazon and hadn’t realised just how close dated they were when they arrived.
I’m feeling very virtuous today, lots of annoying little jobs done, including a bedding change- all washed and line dried, not for much longer I suspect.
Can’t quite claim a halo though as today’s laundry has now joined my ironing mountain- that could be tomorrow’s job🥴. x

Blossoming Tue 28-Oct-25 17:02:24

We saw this beautiful rainbow as we were nearing the end of this afternoon’s walk. It seemed to fit perfectly with my current feelings of hope for the future. Living with a chronic disease is a roller coaster ride, isn’t it, but life feels good right now.

Jaxjacky Tue 28-Oct-25 17:50:44

Wonderful Blossoming you exude happiness, a delight to see.
A walk here too, but no rainbows, just a rather gusty wind, I watched the council with leaf blowers, pretty pointless really.
It sounds debilitating Grannmarie must get you down, but you’ll get there 🌻
I hope the FGT’s had an uneventful afternoon at Christie’s.
Thoughts with the soops snug in each others company.

brook2704 Tue 28-Oct-25 18:55:01

Gorgeous rainbow Blossoming thanks for the picture and good to hear you’re feeling well
I’ve enjoyed today too, nothing special just simple everyday things but it did feel good. A couple of classes at the gym, laughter and a coffee with pals, a walk by the river and messages from both DDs. Grandmabattys hearty lentil soup this evening, autumn candles lit by the fire and a comfy sofa to watch TV ☺️
Please take it easy grannmarie it’ll take a while to recover ❤️
Well done with all your jobs mamaa and thank you for the group hug

Good evening Kitcheners. Today has been difficult to say the least. The boys were great and I dropped them off at school/nursery. Then the lawyer cancelled the appointment for mum's title deeds. So I had time to phone the doctor about my leg. I have an appointment for Friday. Then dd phoned to say dgs2 had fallen awkwardly out of a tree and she was taking him to hospital. I then went for my flu jab and picked up dgs1 from school and took him home.
It turns out dgs2 has broken his elbow badly. He has a full arm cast, has had morphine and might need surgery. Poor wee man. Dd brought him to pick up his brother, who was very upset about it, and the wee pet was fine. Dd said he was so good at the hospital. The nursery phoned me to ask how he was and they were upset too. So a challenging day. He's determined to go to his gran and grandad house for a sleepover and he wants to go to nursery tomorrow, although that's not happening. I'm glad he's not with me tomorrow! So a quiet day for me tomorrow. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners

Grandmabatty Tue 28-Oct-25 19:11:54

brook I had a bowl of the soup at lunchtime

SueDonim Tue 28-Oct-25 19:33:17

I can imagine how your stomach is churning, FGT. It’s such unknown territory when you suddenly find yourself in this strange place, which nothing preciously in life prepared you for. flowers It is good news though that your Dh is considered well enough to keep on keeping on. Good luck. Xxx

TOYA. Xxx

cornergran Tue 28-Oct-25 19:54:06

Oh heck grandmab. What a day you’ve had. Poor lad. It must have scared him. You too. Hope the lawyer had a watertight reason for cancelling. It is positive though you have an appointment on Friday, not long to wait. Hope you get a decent sleep tonight.

Frustrating day here, everything technical that could go wrong did. Oh well, tomorrow is another day so onwards with hope.

Wishing you all a restful evening.

brook2704 Tue 28-Oct-25 22:29:16

Oh goodness grandmabatty I hope dgs2 isn’t in too much pain, that sounds quite bad! It’ll take a while to heal I guess - poor wee boy 😢

Grannmarie Tue 28-Oct-25 23:35:48

Oh my goodness Grandmabatty, poor wee boy, what a sore one! I hope he's comfortable now and manages to sleep tonight. Glad you've got an appointment for your leg.

Thank you, Jaxjacky and brook, I am feeling down a bit. Managed to sweep up leaves for ten minutes then dozed most of the afternoon. Chicken sandwich and yoghurt later.

Really hoping to see the Wee Boy for Halloween. 🤞🎃

Wishing everyone a good night's sleep. TOYA, NNGB.
