Hello Kitcheners- hope you don't mind and apologies if a new kitchen has already been opened elsewhere but I couldn't find it if there has... I've done my best but it still needs a few throws and cushions to make it more homely, ready for the nights drawing in and chillier evenings. Some freshly baked scones, jam and cream on the side if you fancy a treat.
I hope you dont think it presumptious of me to start this kitchen as I don't post as regularly as some of you but do find Soops Kitchen a lovely place to drop into even if I've nothing to say.

Hi all, a lot in your head corner hopefully as the days pass some of that is resolved.
I hope you enjoyed your 2pm get together uttb a very Happy Birthday to your granddaughter 🎂.
Stretch class this morning was enjoyed, I really must do some at home, followed by a ‘chat’ with the pharmacy over missing tablets. Floor washing, sweet potato and chicken curry in the slow cooker and a Tesco delivery was my afternoon.
Enjoy your evening all, 👋👋 to the quiet corner, the soops and anyone having a struggle in their life.

Thank you for your posts.
Brookside was indeed one brook the other was Notcutts but may have been Woodford Garden Centre in your day.
Brookside still has the wonderful miniature railway you may remember. My friend wasn’t too bad today.
All my family are out, my GD and her BF have gone into Manchester to a steak restaurant and my S has taken my GS to a firework display where the fireworks are timed/ coordinated “whatever” to Oasis music.
I would really have enjoyed that.
Lots of fireworks going off and it will be the same tomorrow as more events are taking place.
Poor animals !!!

Usedtobeblonde Fri 07-Nov-25 19:14:34

The sun damage on my nose which is being treated is very sore and very unsightly, I could easily frighten horses!!
Small price to pay though for it to be cured and not turn “nasty”.

Yiayia4 Fri 07-Nov-25 19:36:08

Evening Kitcheners.
Happy Birthday to your DGD uttb it’s so good that you have such a lovely relationship.

Blossomingnice photo as always.

It’s been a hectic few days,DH insisted on going out for lunch yesterday for our anniversary.I was a bit unsure but need to have more confidence.Anyway it was fine, a lovely lunch in a very quaint country pub.Today 3 of our GC’s came for lunch. Our eldest was home from uni this week so nice to have them together. He’s missing home so hoping he settles.
Thoughts always Fgt and himself x

Hello everyone, another grey and mild day today but I didn’t want to do any gardening. I went for a walk and met DD2’s mother in law in the park. She was looking after littlest who was enjoying the swings! We had a chat, then littlest chased me along the path - what a sight, me on the rollator and littlest on her scooter! You can guess who went faster!
I did some ironing, then dusted upstairs, so I felt that I had actually achieved something.

cornergran I hope your worries clear enough to enable you to sleep tonight.

Fireworks here tonight, utbb, both DDs and their families have gone to a firework display at the granddaughter’s school this evening. The seven year olds aren’t too keen on the loud ones. I’d have liked to go too, but probably not a good idea as my balance isn’t too good in the dark!
yiayia pleased you were able to go out to lunch to celebrate your anniversary.
Have a pleasant evening everyone, I hope the fireworks aren’t too noisy.
Thought as ever to the soops and the fgts

brook2704 Fri 07-Nov-25 20:03:34

Thank you Uttb I didn’t think the minature railway would still be there, I remember taking my children on it when they were young - they loved it and I think there was some sort of Shepherds hut type thing in the garden that they used to play on whilst me and my mum enjoyed our teas - Happy memories!
Aww your poor wee boy grandmabatty he’s been through such a lot that tears are expected, I hope he’s feeling much brighter soon. At least your DD collects her dry washing from yours, mine is now used to the 5* laundry service including putting it all away too 🙄
A massive well done Corner for sorting through all your old photos - it’s a job that just keeps getting put off and off here - one day maybe it’ll get done here too
The slow cooker sweet potato and chicken curry sounds good Jax - is it easy to put together? We’re just having a quick & easy M&S curry tonight
Good that you got out for an anniversary lunch Yia and spent time with the GC today 💐

Naughtyneine Sat 08-Nov-25 15:44:31

It's a better end to the week than the beginning. I've been to the Artisan Christmas market at Wells Cathedral today, I had to drive slowly and walk even slower but it was lovely to be out in the sunshine, I hadn't been in the grounds before and they were stunning, even in November complete with Rembrance poppy area.

The new GP was very helpful not with the hip problem as such apart from changing the pain killers to Tramadol that I will proceed with caution before taking... She called again yesterday to see how I felt about changing to a natural HRT and spent nearly half an hour making sure I was happy and reassuring me that she would support me going forward.
Then just as that can finished so the Admissions office called to ask if I would be happy to be operated on by the Custody
Consultant I saw in September ( he had been asked to see me by my original Consultant)
He specialises in difficult hip revisions so I was happy to say yes. I'm not getting my hopes up yet but it did seem a step forward.
Thank you all for your support whilst I wobbled.

RosieandherMaw Sat 08-Nov-25 16:18:43

Rosie is 8!
Birthday walkie in local country Park- squirrels AND swans- followed by a pupoccino with a celebration Schmacko in the top - thank you Park café !

Grandmabatty Sat 08-Nov-25 16:58:20

Rosie is a lovely dog.
I've struggled with pain today but rested loads. I met up with a friend who also is in chronic pain so we moaned to each other then talked about other things. I managed to get the bedding and towels washed and dried, emptied and loaded the dishwasher and cleaned the bathroom. Mince and tatties for dinner later. My lovely neighbour popped over with Brussel sprouts, a leek and some beetroot from her allotment. So a good day, all told. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners

GrannyGravy13 Sat 08-Nov-25 17:19:24

Well my day if no plans has been flipping busy!

DD rang just after 8am to say she had a migraine and could I take the 10yr old to football practice, dropped him off, rushed round Aldi and back to pick him up.

Changed bed, washed bedding (will iron it tomorrow) washed everything in laundry basket apart from handwashing (I always put it off).

DH wants schnitzel for dinner, so I will be in the kitchen when I would rather be watching Strictly.

Rosie is gorgeous Maw happy birthday to her.

Naughtyneine I hope you are pain free soon.

Grandmabatty sorry you are also in pain, hope your little GS is more comfortable.

Once again I am behind with the kitchen news.

Thinking of dear soop and FGT2 😘

Blossoming Sat 08-Nov-25 17:31:40

Good evening all. My days follow much the same pattern now: breakfast, shower, walk, lunch, audiobook, walk, dinner, YouTube. I don’t really have the energy to do much else. MrB is making fish and chips for dinner, later we have a film to watch.
Sending hugs to all in pain ♥️

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 08-Nov-25 17:32:00

‘Evening All’

We enjoyed a really good day. I’ve put a half bottle of Whispering Angel in the fridge to chill and plan to crack it open after our chicken & veg dinner in an hour to enjoy over the weekend. I also had a glass of wine last Sunday. 3 glasses in 6 months. My choice of course so I’m not complaining. I need to be fully compos mentis, alert for any untoward changes in Himself (with you there Yia it’s anxiety inducing isn’t it?) any time. But tonight is a small celebration. ‘Seize the Day’ and all that. I’m feeling brave after another smooth day. 🤞

Thoughts especially with dragonfly and her husband hoping for more positive reassurance and thesoops as always. I hope they’re content tonight safe in one another’s care and companionship. Such a loving couple going through tough times. x

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 08-Nov-25 17:34:54

Your days sound perfect Blossoming because you are ‘more well’ again and you have your darling man beside you all the way.

I hope the newly installed stair lift is great?

Nannytopsy Sat 08-Nov-25 17:55:52

Happy Birthday Rosie from Merv - a distant relationship as she’s a lurcher.
Much love to the soops. I wonder if they watched their Scottish rugby boys fight do hard against New Zealand.
Off to a local firework display for the first time in years. DGC will come home with us for hot dogs and a sleepover.
I have been contacted too about a hip revision by a different surgeon. Rather odd because I haven’t had a hip replacement yet!!
Have a good weekend everyone.

cornergran Sat 08-Nov-25 19:04:30

Enjoy that glass of wine fgt. Well deserved.

Gentle days sound just right blossoming.

I’m sorry you’re still in pain grandmab. Doesn’t sound like a lot of rest to me though 🤔. That’s a busy day for me.

Hope you get to settle for Strictly grannyg. I’m sneaky with these things, with no space in our extra small sized kitchen for a tv I stand the iPad on the window ledge and tune that in. At least I can listen if not watch.

A good afternoon for us. We had a super walk on the sea front in lovely sunshine with some of the family, a rare treat. A long sit in a cafe with space to chat before we went our separate ways. Mr C walked further than he had for months, we’re both very pleased.

I’ll concentrate on Strictly now. Have a good evening everyone.

Jaxjacky Sat 08-Nov-25 19:18:44

Hi all from lots of firework noise in S Hants, a lovely day today, last garden pruning done.
I went to a craft sale and bought a lovely print of a barn owl in flight, then had my hair trimmed.
Ouch Grandmabatty that’s going on some time and neine may that surgeon get a move on!
Well done Mrc you’ll sleep well, you too I hope corner
Cheers FGT 🥂

Blossoming Sat 08-Nov-25 19:36:48

Thank you FGT2, I am happy to be living in the slow lane, just taking what pleasure I can in each day. The stair lift is great and MrB is happy that I’m not in danger of falling downstairs!

Usedtobeblonde Sat 08-Nov-25 19:57:03

It is very noisy here, the noisiest evening of the week.
I am tucked up in bed reading and pottering on my iPad.
My GD’s friend visited today with her 18month old D.
After being a real grotbag as a baby she is suddenly delightful, so happy and funny and sleeping 12 hours solidly every night.
My GD’s half sister joined us with her 5month old S who is a very placid baby.
We went for a late lunch and then did a garden centre, I had to come home then and was very tired, also babied out, I confess to a bowl of cereal and a cup of tea, not my usual Saturday evening meal but it was all I wanted.
A good but tiring day.
Have the best evening you can everyone.

Usedtobeblonde Sat 08-Nov-25 20:00:09

I intended to send greetings to FGT and Blossoming who seem to be doing ok and feeling content, all that we wish for ourselves but got carried away.
It is very very noisy with fireworks, I feel for the animals, Molly is totally unfazed.

Grannydaisy1 Sat 08-Nov-25 20:58:50

Fgt2 sounds like a great day for you and himself. May you have many more.
Blossoming well done to you too

Redcar Sat 08-Nov-25 21:08:47

The fireworks were over with very early in this village, but very pretty.
neine Wells cathedral gardens look beautiful and I hope the Christmas market was good. Hoping you don’t have to wait too long for your hip revision. You’re wise to be wary of Tramadol, I had it after my second hip replacement and didn’t find it particularly helpful, also felt sick and dizzy!
blossoming good that you’re enjoying life in the slow lane!
rosiesmaw happy birthday to Rosie.

I had intended to dust and vacuum downstairs today, but DD2 and family came over this morning to prune my unruly rose bush. I started it last weekend but some of the branches were too thick for me to cut, so I had to leave it.
Then DD1 and her DH arrived, they had borrowed my car as theirs was being repaired, so collected their car from the garage and brought mine back. Fortunately for them I have been unable to drive because my back has been too painful. I hope it improves soon, I want to go shopping and look at all the decorations in the shops.
I couldn’t be bothered to do anything after they’d gone, so read the paper instead. I’ll do the house work tomorrow!

Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone. Best wishes to all those in the quiet corner.

Blossoming Sat 08-Nov-25 21:09:25

Thank you UTBB and Grannydaisy1 😊

brook2704 Sat 08-Nov-25 21:19:02

Happy 8th Birthday to Rosie Maw, it sounds like she’s had some lovely birthday treats
Sorry to hear you’ve been suffering again today grandmabatty hopefully things will get a bit better soon

I didn’t go out this evening as thought - I’d been dithering all afternoon about whether to go or not as I was supposed to go with my pal but she couldn’t make it. Wasn’t sure about going alone but decided to go for it, got showered & ready, early tea etc then just about to leave when a message pinged in saying it was cancelled. I felt a bit relieved actually and set up camp on the sofa instead 😀

Pleased you've both had a better day Fgt enjoy your very well deserved glass of wine
Sounds like a lovely day cornergran I love a seaside walk especially when there’s a cafe nearby
Blossoming 💐

Grandmabatty Sun 09-Nov-25 18:11:32

Good evening Kitcheners. It's quiet in the kitchen today. Lots of leg resting from me and it feels better. I've been to Aldi and picked up some stocking fillers and a wee present for dgs2. Got Christmas cards and tags too. The rest of the day I have rested and tidied in equal measures. Dinner will be a salmon fillet roasted with potato slices, red onion, leek and beetroot, most of which is courtesy of my neighbour's allotment. It'll be ready in half an hour approx and already smells divine.
I have a busy week ahead. The other grandparents are away on holiday so I'm doing the nursery/school run four days instead of two. Plus football training and breakfast before school. I'll do some library volunteering too. So I'm making myself be more active. I hope everyone is ok. I'm thinking of The Soops, Fgt, Yiayia and Grannmarie who is under the weather. I hope I haven't missed any poorly people out. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners.

Jaxjacky Sun 09-Nov-25 18:36:47

Grandmabatty sounds like a busy week just when your leg is getting better, volunteering is just that and can wait if you need to pause.
You have a gentle rhythm in your life Blossoming it suits and I’m pleased for you both.
It’s been a damp, gloomy day, I’ve actually done little than make dinner, clean the kitchen and make a list of things to do, always makes me feel productive!
Cottage pie for dinner with veg, you’ve reminded me to get some beetroot Gmatty I’ll faff with my delivery list now.
Thoughts with those struggling x
