After Breakfast and some TV , I will get a earlier bus to Bicester this morning , maybe go to a bakery cafe and have a coffee with a snack .
Do a shop ,maybe see people I know.
Easy afternoon ,and relax
health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from Bristol. It is surprisingly mild atm. I don’t know what to wear.
Yesterday’s Spanish went well. Only 6 have signed up, but two were missing this week. Our tutor asked us what we wanted to do this academic year. We are fairly advanced, using an IB text book, but still need to consolidate our grammar, me in particular.
DD collected me and we went to her house for a pumpkin soup lunch. It was very pleasant.
We went home and spent an absolutely horrible 2 hours trying to sort out some things required by the financial ombudsman. DH used to deal with finances, but since the scam, I have totally and completely lost any confidence in money. I spent most of the time in tears, feeling even less in control than usual. I sincerely hope I won’t have too many of these requests. It upends my self confidence, which is in very short supply anyway.
Today, I’m cleaning my bit of the church and getting ready for a whole load of Bramley and Japonicas from a friend. I’ll make mincemeat and apple/quince jellies.
Lovely news from FGT. Encouraging news from MD. I hope that oldd has got safely back into Ash arms. Love to those not mentioned.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩❤️

Good morning Mick and all to follow from a decidedly drenched north Wales coast - 🪣 🪣 🪣 of the dratted stuff so no chance of my forest bathing walk for a 🗞️🤬

On the bright side the handkerchief lawn at the rear of PG Towers is looking lush and green, a source of much pride for the Head Gardener who insists on a perambulation around it each evening…🤦‍♀️

Out this evening for an Indian with DGD and her lovely chap to celebrate their 1st Wedding Anniversary 🥂haven’t seen them for a while so they can regale us with their busy lives!

Belated congratulations to Susan’s mum on her 93rd and GMB - hope 🍰 was had aplenty 😋

💐 for all with tribulations, medical and familial, may you have a restful weekend x

Good morning, it’s dry here on my hillside in south Glos, wasn’t yesterday’s sunshine glorious? I got all the washing dried nicely, including the dogs’ beds.
Art group was very pleasant, it’s so good to spend a couple of hours in good company, I do look forward to my Friday mornings.
In the afternoon tiddler and I sat in my Shed with the doors and windows wide open, making the most of the sunshine. I still need to take the duster and vacuum cleaner down there, couldn’t be bothered yesterday!
I had a lovely long video call with DS, DDIL and DGS1 yesterday evening, catching up on all their news. DGS2 was at a friend’s house.
Today nothing exciting planned, an early dog walk then probably something arty I think. The forecast isn’t that good, heavy rain on its way, so let’s see how today goes.
Best wishes to you all 🌹

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. It’s still dark and I’ve no idea what the weather is like.

We’ve had a night of playing musical beds resulting in all three GC in with me, DH having given up and is probably sleeping peacefully elsewhere in the house.

No idea what we’ll do today.

Just sending good wishes to everyone for a good day.

kittylester Sat 20-Sept-25 05:48:44

Good morning all from a hospital bed in Leicester.

No idea what the weather is like but it's quite chilly in here.

I had a drain removed yesterday so feel as though I am moving in the right direction. I had a visit from DH and Ds1 yesterday which was lovely. I hope to go home tomorrow.

Have the best day possible all.

grandMattie Sat 20-Sept-25 06:06:19

Glad to hear how well you’re getting on, kitty. Keep it up!

karmalady Sat 20-Sept-25 06:13:46

Good morning from dull and wet s somerset

Very good speedy progress Kitty

I am sitting here trying to relax my jaw, my pain started after I got up and could well be me tensing my jaw, being focused on it and so now it could be tendon causing the pain and not actual toothache, who knows. Time will tell. I have ibuprofen in my pocket and will try not to take it

Nice to have the gansey to concentrate on, every pattern line is different and it occupies my mind well

One dd and husband are going to look at some springer pups today from a local gamekeeper and hubbie will train them for work. It has taken over a year for him to be able to think about a new dog since his much loved cocker died. She had been trained by him and was a fully working gundog. There are two springers and I think he will have two. They still have amolder cocker but she is now fully incontinent and they are going to have to make a decision about her as her legs are going as is quality of life

I doubt I will be going out today but will be happy to knit all day with interludes for this and that

Have a good day

Good Morning fr sunny MS. Sending 💐& a cheery 🎈to recent b'day girl GMB, & the same to post-op Kittylester - I hope you're feeling bright-eyed & bushy-tailed asap!
We had a lovely day out on Thurs & again on Friday, so it's back to reg chores today - #1 on the list is tidying the over-grown garden. The attached photo is a partial view of the sweets selecton at our Thurs. lunch...v hard to make a choice (& resist all the rest!) Hope yr Sat. is fun!

peli Sat 20-Sept-25 06:19:33

oops, did a typo on the word "selection"

btw, I hope pp'l don't mind me attaching photos - if it's annoying, pls tell me.

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a dark but so far dry morning in North Yorkshire. Have to make the most of it to get stuff sorted for the car.

It is the show today, and despite dismal and dire weather warnings I am still going. It will have to be extra boots, macs etc., and it is rather optimistic to take the chairs and hoping to watch the horses for some time by the ring. Anyway if we stopped doing things for the weather we would do nothing. But as I am still creaking around, wont be able to rush for cover so spare things needed.

So very short post today. I made a casserole yesterday, so that when I fall in the house shattered I will only have to heat it up and do a jacket potato. Many jobs staring me in the face but ignoring them of course. Off to do sandwiches, and coffee things and check over the picnic basket. Got a feeling I will be sitting in the car eating them!!

I hope everyone has a decent day and will catch up tonight when I get back

Susan56 Sat 20-Sept-25 06:58:16

Good morning from Shropshire. After yesterdays glorious sunshine we have heavy rain forecast today.

Mum was happy to see us and loved her goodies and her 9 and 3 balloons but was very tired so a short visit as she wanted to go to bed.We went for coffee and cake with my brother and SIL afterwards. He is keeping busy but struggling after the death of his daughter obviously. He enjoyed sharing happy memories with us.

We have no plans this weekend.A to do list has been made but not sure how much will be done.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 20-Sept-25 07:07:38

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

The weather was beautiful yesterday and I was back in sandals. I had a small filling at the dentist. I didn’t really need a local anaesthetic but I had one anyway. It left me a bit woozy for the rest of the day. I managed to cook dinner - just salmon fried in butter and oil with new potatoes, peas and a rose Marie sauce which I threw together.

Elder son and our granddaughter are coming today and will stay overnight. Her mum is working.

I am having a final (yes, final) print delivered today. It is a fun one for the kitchen. At the moment my OU graduation photo is in there. (I promised my late aunt that I would have it on display - she was very proud of me - where to put it now?) This new print is of a giant pink blancmange.

I hope you’re home soon Kitty. When I had a similar operation I was allowed home the following day, but I had keyhole surgery which doesn’t take so long to heal.

Thinking of the FGT2S and MaryD.

Have a good day everyone.

cornergran Sat 20-Sept-25 07:10:18

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset is dry at the moment, a day of rain due to begin very soon.

A very productive and enjoyable time yesterday. Tidied the garden in warm sunshine in the morning before depositing two large bags at a welcoming charity shop in the afternoon, another bag is well on its way. We didn’t walk far as Mr C’s foot wasn’t behaving well.

Not sure about today. See how it pans out, I may get to packing some clothes away and assessing autumn/winter wear.

Hope you make it home tomorrow kitty. I’m sorry you’ve been so upset grandmattie. Good luck with the weather madeleine. You sound very uncomfortable karma, hope it eases during the day.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Grandmabatty Sat 20-Sept-25 07:12:28

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and dry but cloudy. Peli I like your photos. Susan I'm glad your mum enjoyed her birthday. Madeleine enjoy the show.
Thank you for all the birthday wishes for yesterday. I had a pleasant day. The boys made me a video of them singing happy birthday before they went to school. It's safe to say that dgs2 is not a singer! They were very funny. Lots of lovely presents and lunch with dd and ds. Pantglas my ds brought cakes from St Andrews and a well known baker called Fisher and Donaldson. I had a strawberry tart which was delicious.
Today will be a quiet day. I will bumble around, doing housework. My hip is bothering me and I suspect the culprit is my new sofas. I just need to get used to them. I'm making ragout in the slow cooker today and freezing most of it. And that will be my day. Enjoy your day all.

BlueSapphire Sat 20-Sept-25 07:12:50

Good morning everyone from a very dull and overcast Northampton, rain forecast at lunchtime, and same in Milton Keynes where I shall be spending today.
I have an M&S voucher which must be spent by the end of the month, and as I can't do any day next week it has to be today. Hope I have more luck in M&S than I did at Rushden Lakes last week.

Yesterday's weather here was glorious, but I was mostly indoors with three dance classes in the morning, and then at the shops after lunch (a toastie in M&S Food Cafe). And then got home and.was immediately busy with washing up, and a good tidy up before dinner.

Spent the evening watching the exciting women's rugby semi-final between Canada and New Zealand, willing Canada on to their well deserved victory. England-France semi-final today.

Peli, put as many photos of MS on as you like! The more exotic the better!
Madeleine hope you enjoy the show today, and that you won't get too wet.
And wishing all GNs a pleasant day!

Grandmabatty Sat 20-Sept-25 07:13:53

kitty I'm glad you seem to be on the mend.

BlueSapphire Sat 20-Sept-25 07:21:38

And I meant to say have just popped into Soops Kitchen and read FGT2's lovely news. Wishing you both many more such days!

Ashcombe Sat 20-Sept-25 07:25:21

Good morning from an overcast and breezy Torbay with rain forecast.

Thank you all for the supportive messages regarding DH's journey yesterday. I’m pleased to say it went like a dream! Every train ran on time, including the GWR one which covered the last leg, arriving at Torre at 17.35 where I was ready to meet him. We are like the couple in Brief Encounter (although much older!!) as we enjoy our first embrace!

It must be a horrid experience having to deal with your finances, grandMattie regarding the scam as I’m sure it brings back the horror of the first discovery. I hope it’s a means to an end which sees the issues being sorted out.

Photos are always welcome, peli! What an incredible selection of desserts!

Good to hear of your progress, kittylester and lovely to know that going home is in the offing.

A quiet day here seems likely. Happy weekend, everyone! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s grey and dry but the sun is trying to break through the clouds. Not sure if we’ll have any rain, but it would be useful. Warm again I think, yesterday was a glorious day, sunshine all day and 27 degrees in my garden. I did a little tidying in the garden and then just sat and enjoyed the warmth.

madeleine I hope you’ll enjoy the country show today and that you don’t get too wet! kitty I hope you continue to make good progress and that you are allowed home tomorrow.
susan I’m pleased that your mum enjoyed her birthday treats and that you were able to spend some time with your brother and SIL too.
grandmattie after your experience it’s not surprising that you have lost confidence in money matters, but I hope it can all be sorted out soon, it’s taking ages isn’t it?
I’m off to see my godmother today for lunch, I have to collect fish and chips on my way! She is 100 and has finally accepted that she needs a bit of help to get herself washed and dressed in the mornings. Today is the first day that a carer is coming in, so I’ll find out how she got on.
Have the best day possible everyone, I hope those who have problems of any kind find life a bit easier today.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 20-Sept-25 07:32:23

Good morning from a warm overcast S E Essex.

Not sure what is in the cards for today, will probably start on the ironing of the bedding mountain. I ironed the clothing yesterday, but could t really concentrate due to the building noise.

We have The Imp for a couple of hours later, we have decided on fish & chips for dinner, DH will wander down and pick it up, no doubt his little shadow will go with him.

Baby steps kittylester 🌸

Enjoy your day 🙋‍♀️

NannyJan53 Sat 20-Sept-25 07:35:17

Good morning from a dull and grey Black Country, where it is still quite warm. Ate our evening meal outside last night!

I am 72 today! I remember my 70th like it was yesterday, so not sure what happened to the past 2 years!

Meal in tonight, then 13 of the family are gathering for a lunch out tomorrow, as DD couldn't make today as she is with DGD2 at a University open day which meant staying overnight last night, and probably won't be home until early evening.

MrJ is still asleep, so no cards to open yet, he appropriated them as they arrived this week. As if I would open them before today!!

Glad you are on the mend kitty and hugs to gM hoping your DD can eventually have it sorted for you.

Thoughts to FGT's and MD

Wishing you all the best day possible

brook2704 Sat 20-Sept-25 07:39:34

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve grey clouds with some rain in the forecast
gMattie so sorry to hear about the upset yesterday, I hope the ombudsman makes a decision very soon in your favour
A very Happy Birthday Nannyjan enjoy today and your family get together tomorrow! 💐🥂🎂
Yesterday afternoon we went for a lovely walk at Rosemarkie beach, there’s a little cafe there overlooking the sea so we sat for a while in the sunshine. It was windy but at least it stayed dry. Then we called into DD2s on the way home, saw both DGC briefly, DGS was going to basketball and DGD meeting up with her friends. Today there’s a couple of interesting buildings open nearby as part of the Doors Open Days so we might just go along to have a look inside.
Hoping you get home tomorrow kitty
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Greyduster Sat 20-Sept-25 07:54:39

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a grey South Yorkshire. We are expecting an awful lot of rain this afternoon. I cleared my bedroom yesterday ready for the decorator and slept in the spare room. I’d forgotten how the Dunlopillo mattress ‘cooks’ me and woke up at three in a muck sweat, only to find I’d missed three messages from GS☹️. I will arrange to speak to him today.
I have offered to visit a friend in hospital this afternoon and if it’s very wet, as forecast, I may go on the bus instead of driving. I hate driving in heavy rain.
Somewhere in all the moving of stuff out of the living room I appear to have mislaid the speaker that I link to my phone to listen to music. I hope it turns up amid all the current chaos!
Keep posting your pictures Peli - I would get on a plane to eat those cakes!!
Have the best day you can folks.

luluaugust Sat 20-Sept-25 08:01:59

Good morning from an overcast W Kent. Lovely day yesterday starting with the Downton film and ending in the garden.
Today DGD1 is popping in before going to university tomorrow.
Happy birthday Nannyjan
Best wishes to all
