Andrew Lownie is an historian with academic qualifications; whether well-respected I couldn't say. He is a literary agent and author, and his books, apart from one on John Buchan seem to focus on less pleasant aspects of the royal family: the Mountbattens, the Windsors and now the Yorks.

It would be of more value to use his talents to investigate Mandelson and his dealings with Epstein remove his title, his seat in the Lords and his six figure salary as failed Ambassador, guaranteed for 4 years.

Lownie is a respected historian having studied studied at Magdalene where he achieved a Master's. He has a PhD from the University of Edinburgh and is a Senior Research Fellow in Modern History at the University of Buckinghamshire.

He is an accepted source of modern history for students of history.

He is an author and literary agent and has written a number of authoritative historical biographies.

I'm quite sure he wants to make money from his book sales, I can't think why he would want to write books for nothing?

In what way are you qualified to judge the veracity of a PhD ronib? And on what do your base your judging criteria?

I would argue that it would be extremely unusual for either Magdelene College or the University of Edinburgh to hand out sub-standard post graduate degrees.
