Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where we shall have a clear dry day. I am late this morning. Went to bed early but a broken night full of strange dreams.

I had a lovely day with my friend yesterday. For one reason or another we haven’t seen each other for a long time so there was much to catch up on and much laughter as always.

Today I have to do a grocery shop. Family are coming to lunch tomorrow and I have promised a roast dinner.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 7°C, with sunny skies.

Another awful night, I'm seriously fed up with it all. Perhaps, I should just stay up all night and watch Turkish rubbish. dramas. 😉

DH was shocked yesterday, when I came back so early from my shopping and church. I was just glad to be home, I'm struggling.
My sacristan friend had covered for me ( despite his wife being very unwell) and when I arrived, everything had been done, He is a lovely man.

Today, the usual parish bulletin and website to deal with. Hopefully it won't be too onerous a task, because I did some prep yesterday.
However, this afternoon, we have to prepare for the Diocesan cemetery Mass tomorrow, which comes under the jurisdiction of our Parish. On average, seven hundred people attend, so a fair bit of preparation is necessary.

Last night, we had an unexpected visit from SIL and DD. SIL was clutching a pile of Metros. DD collects one at the station for me every day, soo that I can do the crossword and DH, the Soduko.
I shall be busy!!
She upset me by telling me that she would be visiting House of Bruar on her trip next week. without me. 🤬
I love the food gall, especially the cheeses.

Dragonfly, what a worry for you. I was so sorry to read your news.
Susan. 💕
Grandmabatty, get thee to a GP. You need to be careful, due to your health condition.
Welcome Vix, what a beautiful photo! I will ask before FGT does, where are you posting from?

I was saddened to read the tone of the thread this morning, however I don't really understand what it is all about. In saying that, Carpe diem, is a favourite phrase of mine, which I have often used on this thread.
When you have had as many close calls, as I have, you have to make the best of every moment.
However, I have to admit, I have never understood the meaning or purpose of the 🦩🦩.

I understand that you are upset, GM, I don't think it was meant to be a comment, directed at you personally.
In my opinion, it would be better for posters, to just ignore the comment, instead of souring the thread.

Habere bonum diem! 😉

Good morning from a dull and wet Suffolk after a cold but sunny day yesterday. A late start and I haven’t read your posts but I see there are more than usual. I hope all is ok with everyone.

Apart from a trip to a local builders’ merchants and coffee and cake afterwards there are no plans in place for the rest of the day. We won’t see DS and family as he is on call all weekend. I enjoy quiet peaceful times at home with a book and the Saturday newspaper delivered with our weekly order this afternoon.

Hope today is a good one for all.

mamaa Sat 25-Oct-25 08:43:17

Morning all, hope you have as good a day as you can and ( almost forgot😉) ‘Carpe Diem’ 🦩🦩

merlotgran Sat 25-Oct-25 08:55:04

Good morning from a sunny south coast. ‘Flu’ jab at 11.30 then a small food shop in Aldi just because it’s almost next door to the surgery and it will save me going later in the week.
Nothing else to do other than hang the washing out, knitting and telly watching later.
Have a good day everyone.

I have found the thread, which has upset some posters.

I don't think it was directed at anyone in particular on GN or this thread and was intended to be amusing.
Unfortunately, it was taken personally. I am very guilty of this, erroneously thinking a comment on GN is directed at me, when it is not! 😪

oh dear, I have found that carpe diem post and am in that same category of wishing everyone a good day. I do wish everyone a good day, every day.

So I repeat, have a good day and I hope misery guts has a good day too. I wish you well and hope you can see joy in life

What a sour note you have injected.
I am not a “miseryguts* and should have thought it obvious that it was meant as a lighthearted observation - and not on this thread BTW so certainly not aimed at anybody in particular unlike the miseryguts barb.
I have much joy in my life, albeit on a nippy morning, newly serviced CH and a new thermostat fitted on Thursday at no cost playing their part, along with a warm furry back snuggled up beside me.
I was prepared to don my sackcloth and ashes but nothing energises quite a gratuitous attack, so I shall wrap up warm in one of my new Seasalt sweaters, purchased with my WFA (thank you, Rachel from Accounts) but probably have a little flounce too as the GM thread has been quite spoiled for me.

Oh my rosiesmaw, I rarely listen to here but here goes. I saw your Carpe diem post and responded from my heart. It was ironic and from your heart.
I’m genuinely upset to see you referred to as misery guts on what is meant to be a supportive thread
Right, off to walk those dogs, telling myself it’s a bright if very cold morning and it’s miraculously not raining

Marydoll Sat 25-Oct-25 08:58:48

mamma is it you, who is looking for a new heater?
I have just bought one and it seems to be very economical. You can get it in various colours to match your decor. Mine is teal!!
It is both a heater and cooler.

Good morning all. A lovely sunny start to the day in Glasgow but my goodness it’s chilly at 5Deg.

As a sunny dry day is predicted I will strip my bed and add it to a wash to hang out. It’s also time to put the electric blanket on the bed, rarely used but a good standby. Bed making will be done at my own pace but will be done. What an exciting day ahead!

Dragonfly, I am sorry to read your DH has had a set back. I hope there is news of some progress today for you and your son to share.

Best wishes to all for a decent sort of day today, especially those struggling with difficult times.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 25-Oct-25 09:01:42

Oh dragonfly your heart will be in your mouth today as your husband is back in ICU. There he will be much more closely monitored again.

I hope you all soon receive the reassuring news on his progress that you crave right now. I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts. x

Grammaretto Sat 25-Oct-25 09:04:47

Dragonfly I missed your post and now see your DH is in ICU again.
Thinking of you all at a worrying time flowers

Blossoming Sat 25-Oct-25 09:19:45

Good morning all from a currently sunny Lancashire. Yesterday we had torrential bouts of rain but still managed to enjoy 2 walks. Our afternoon walk was cut short as we got drenched. Even the ducks found it too wet! MrB made fish and chips for tea later which went down a treat. No real plans for today, the railway museum has a Hallowe’en event this weekend so suitably decorated ghost trains will be running.
Other than that I intend to seize the day by the throat and make the most of it while I am still able. BST ends tonight and I am not looking forward to darker evenings.

I am so sorry to hear your news Dragonfly, very worrying for you flowers

Wishing everyone the best day possible no matter what you’re doing, may you always find a random flamingo in the Lego box of life 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

mamaa Sat 25-Oct-25 09:28:40

Morning Marydoll , no it’s not me who’s looking for a heater not really sure who it is as I’ve seemed to have missed that post.
While on here just also want to send my best wishes to Dragonfly was sorry to read that your husband is back on ICU.
Here’s hoping he’s soon on the ‘up’ again, Good that you have your son with you at this time 💐x.

Stilllearning Sat 25-Oct-25 09:38:11

Good morning from South Lanarkshire, looks bright this morning but only 4 degrees.

I am really sorry to read about your husband’s move back into ICU Dragonfly, and hope for an improvement for him. Glad you have your son with you.

I’m hoping to meet up with two friends for lunch today but one of them has been poorly this week so am waiting to hear if she feels well enough to go out or even for a ‘picnic’ brought to her house. So much ill health just now, it’s hard. grandMattie, would it help to to ‘decide’ to enjoy lunch with your DD? I’ve found that can have amazing results on occasion😊, good luck!

Have the best day possible everyone x

Good morning from Sunnyside (for now) sandhills northwest coast. Art yesterday, drawing leaves, uninspiring for me, but the chat was good, a therapy lesson in itself.

Then to visit my musical friend in hospital and glad to hear she will probably be coming out this weekend. I took a pretty cosmetic bag with bits and pieces inside. A cosy night in with books and tv on a colder night. Long FaceTime with sister in London who is having a new kitchen, a job I can’t face. Don’t mind other rooms being redecorated etc.,but remember the kitchen being a big upheaval.

Tonight is the opera concert, will dig out a concert frock and put my music in a black folder.
Thoughts to dragonfly and all🌺

GrannyGravy13 Sat 25-Oct-25 10:05:05

I also missed your post dragonfly sorry to ,earn about your DH, hoping he is more comfortable and doing better today.

Ziplok Sat 25-Oct-25 14:45:50

Good afternoon everyone,

I’ve just seen your post GrandMattie and urge you to keep posting those pink flamingoes. It’s beyond me if some feel offended by them? They certainly don’t put my teeth on edge, I think they are sweet.
🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

Thoughts to dragonfly and others struggling right now. 💐

Just a reminder to all of you to not forget to put your clocks back an hour tonight.
