Good morning from Malta where the weather is much the same with a high of 22°C forecast.

It was great to see the boys yesterday and how happy they were to be reunited with Milo!

They both seem to have grown in just a few days and were full of all the things they had done in Sicily.

Had my nails done yesterday, designed by DGD! (Photo in case you are interested) She went for a remembrance theme.

I’m going to Sliema today to meet a friend who used to be my neighbour here but now lives in the IOM. Looking forward to catching up.

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

Good morning from Bristol.
Well! Yesterday was interesting. Our coffee morning was very successful and chatty. One person who never comes was there too…
Teflon man came half way through to give us various updates, plus to do work (like checking our alarms are working) normally done by a manager. We have been 5 months without one now.
I am sorry for him as the contracting company Anchor decided to use are hopeless and always have excuses. He can’t use other people because of the contract imposed on him by the CEO, now resigned. He is hamstrung and has joined our ranks of being exasperated by delays and excuses.
He checked my alarms and found that the one in my bedroom doesn’t work. He is also finding the extent of neglect by our retired manager. These alarms are supposed to be checked every 3 months; I don’t think mine were done more than about 4 times in the 2 2/1 years I’ve been here.
In the afternoon, I went to a meeting where the talk was by someone from medical dogs. It was very interesting, one of the most interesting was that they take the dogs to nursing home, and find out very early which resident will start to show symptoms of UTIs, causing many problems in the elderly.
Today, tai chi and dinner with DD and family.
I hope all goes well for everyone today; remembering fgt, marydoll, dragonfly and others 💐

Goodness bellasnana, you do have lovely nails. The choice of what is pictured is always spot on! Well done bella this time.

Good morning from s somerset, quite bright today and warm

I met some lovely new people yesterday, at a nearby garage recommended by my plumber, my regular and good garage is closing after Christmas. I came home so uplifted, such nice cheerful kind men and a very good establishment. Very well known in the locality. I am booked in for next summer. I am appreciating the wonderful family businesses we have here and feel very lucky to have found this lovely small town, it was pot luck when I moved but I was drawn back time after time

The last of my winter plantings should arrive today so I am going to spend time in the garden, weeding and the final bed prep for the last offerings this year

I am still dithering about transport to Wells for the artisan market this weekend. Veering on the side of driving, I don`t want to waste 2 hours sitting on the bus plus I need to add miles to my car.

An unfolding day for me today, nothing specific planned

Have a good day

RosesandLilac Thu 06-Nov-25 06:30:46

Good morning it’s damp and murky here in south Glos, a typical start to a November morning I guess?
A quiet day yesterday, pottering around.
DH went to the village fireworks, there’s always a magnificent bonfire and fireworks display. Luckily bigger dog didn’t seem too upset, tiddler didn’t notice at all - she really is a calming influence on bigger dog, bless her 😍
I have the hairdresser this morning, looking forward to getting my hair sorted, it grows so quickly.
I have an irritating rash appear on my arms, just like in the summer I have absolutely no idea what’s causing it. I do have the strong antihistamines so I will take another today and hope I’ve caught it in time before it spreads.
There hasn’t been any sun so can’t be sun sensitivity, I haven’t eaten anything different or changed any products 🤷🏼‍♀️
Anyway, a minor buggeration , inconsequential really.
Sending you all best wishes 🌹

Good morning from a damp but still mild Black Country.

Had a pleasant hour with DS yesterday, meeting him for lunch. He had just come from a meeting so was in a suit. He is so handsome in his suit (biased I know ) smile Hard to believe he is 50 next month!

Then popped down to Mums to do her food shopping. Her fridge was practically empty!

Walking group walk today, then we usually have coffee and chat at the end.

Wishing you all the best day possible

Susan56 Thu 06-Nov-25 06:36:58

Good morning from North Wales.A dry day forecast.

DD and SIL are away at a friends wedding so we are here looking after the children.Yesterday evening was hectic with both having activities in different areas at the same time.

The FaceTime call with mum was short but went surprisingly well. She was so surprised to see me on the phone! It was lovely to see her face, hair done and looking lovely.

Today school run and opticians appointment.Only one after school activity today luckily in the village.

Beautiful nails Bellasnana.

Thoughts with all our mountaineers.Hope the little one is still doing well Grandmabatty.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻

Jaxjacky Thu 06-Nov-25 06:47:17

Morning from S Hants, I think it’s dry out, very mild.
Glad that call went well Susan
Yesterday I sat at my daughter’s awaiting the gas man who duly turned up and did his checks, then I dropped advent calendars off to a charity collecting for distribution.
Today I’ve a border around the patio in our local to plant up for winter, I’ll put bulbs in leftover from home.
Those nails are so clever Bellas.
Hoping for better news from dragonfly and thoughts with others struggling.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 13° and wet. Susan I'm so glad that the facetime meeting with your mum was successful. Bellasnana your nails are lovely. You make me quite jealous!
Yesterday I did an hour in the school library then pottered about at home. I wasn't feeling great so went for a lie down and got up refreshed.
Today I have the rescheduled meeting with the lawyer to sign away my rights to mum's flat. I'll be glad when that all sorted as my brother has already given me the money. I have no other plans for today. I'll probably do a bit more in the dining room or tackle the boys room. Dinner will be chicken and mushroom curry, the leftovers from last night. Have a good day all.

Grandmabatty Thu 06-Nov-25 06:52:17

Susan thanks. He was complaining yesterday that it was itchy which is a good thing, I feel. The massive stookie is exchanged next Thursday for a more manageable one

GrannyGravy13 Thu 06-Nov-25 07:01:58

Good morning from a just brightening S E Essex.

A busy day here at Gravy Grange, the flooring man will complete (hopefully) laying the kitchen floor and my cleaning fairies 🧚‍♀️will work their magic upstairs.

I thought of Marydoll yesterday, I went into The Range for only the second time in my life, I came out with things I didn’t know I needed, including more Christmas cushions 🤷‍♀️🎄

(((Hugs))) to all our friends in need 🙋‍♀️

Marydoll Thu 06-Nov-25 07:01:59

Good morning all Glasgow, where it is 12°C, with the prospect of showers.

Yesterday, I was the only client in the hairdresser's. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to hear the local gossip, without any background noise. My hair is a wee bit shorter than I wanted, but after going there since 1991 ( when I started in my school nearby) I should have known what the owner is like.
In the staffroom, we had a standing joke that one should never take one's eyes off the scissors, or we would end up with very, very short hair or even bald😉

Afterwards, I dashed across town in torrential rain, through badly flooded roads, to reach the surgery, one minute before it closed.
It was a bit hairy, for few were driving to suit the road conditions.
I had requested more medication for my stomach, which is rather troublesome at the moment and could not have faced going back out again after lunch.

My plan in the afternoon had been to make salmon fish cakes for dinner tonight, it did not come to fruition. I felt awful in the afternoon, dizzy, tired and breathless.
They were made after dinner, but I have lost more of my marbles. That bag of marbles gets smaller by the day,
You may be be familar with the parable of the loaves and fishes, well the same thing happened here, except it was the tale of the tin of salmon and bag of potatoes.
The outcome, my children will be given goodie bags of fish 🤣cakes for dinner tonight. 🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟
I have no idea how it happened.

I have prescriptions to collect and my bloods done at the local health centre hub, to save me travelling hospital in the West End of Glasgow.
I have no idea, who ordered the bloods, I suspect it is an error, for I am already impersonating a pin cushion.

Babydoll has been ill, this week, so Papa may have to look after her, while I go out and I fret the whole time, hoping no disaster will befall them.

I wish you all a pleasant day and praying all the poorlies or ill family members.
Hoping for better news of Mr Dragonfly.
Safe journey home, Borrheid.💕

I live in the Isle of Man. Oddly this morning although it's still dark I can hear no rain, which is nice. Quiet day for me, I have my first pulmonary rehab session and I will get to meet my fellow wheezers for the first time this afternoon.

Forgot to wish you all good morning. Our forecast is like Glasgow, showers.

Redcar Thu 06-Nov-25 07:14:43

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s cloudy, dry and mild again. I think we’re due for another cloudy day. Yesterday I went for my usual walk and met up with my dog walking friends for a chat. Finished the ironing pile when I got back. I pruned more of the big rose bush, then pulled out some weeds as the soil was damp. I had a phone call from a friend, I’m hoping I’ll be driving again soon and will arrange to meet her before Christmas.
DD1’s car is in the garage for repair today, so I may get my car back later.
grandmabatty your dgs2 will be relieved to swap his monster stookie for a smaller one.
susan I’m pleased that the FaceTime call with your mum went so well yesterday.
Hoping for a good day for those who are poorly or worried.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s still dark, it looks a bit misty. yesterday it rained most of the day so hope it’s a bit better today.
Ive a volunteering session all morning then lunch, I’m looking forward to seeing fellow volunteers and catching up on news. I might go over to the retail park afterwards for a bit of shopping.
Gorgeous nails Bellas
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from Midlands, damp start for the day but the weather was gorgeous yesterday. Going dancing later on. Already showered and dinner prepared as woke at stupid o clock and couldn't get back to sleep, I will be fading by lunchtime.
The fireworks never stop round here, the poor animals are in constant high alert. It used to be just a few days a year round Bonfire night but now it's months, I wish they could ban them. They were going off at midnight.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 06-Nov-25 07:27:10

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. The Beaver full moon from last night is still very bright.

I was very pleased with a new cup cake recipe I tried yesterday. Lots of spice and brandy buttercream.

OH took a batch of honey to a pub in a nearby village for them to sell. He’s missed the last couple of Car Boot Sales and left it too late to get a stall at the local Farmers Market.

OH and I are meeting old friends for lunch today. We used to meet half way, but they find driving long distance difficult now so we’re meeting them near their place, around an hour away.

Have a good day.

Best wishes

Good morning from a calm and dry Torbay where temperatures are ridiculously mild!

Yesterday's quiz at Wednesday Club was well attended and our team came third. Our Choir Practice was also well attended and two short promotional videos were made. Our singing was punctuated by the percussive bangs from nearby firework displays so that will give a new touch to Bach's music!

Welcome to IOMG!

Thoughts with the weary, sad and suffering and safe travels to those on the move.

Morning Mick, morning All from a dry corner of Somerset. A bright, mild day forecast.

It wasn’t a surprise when yesterday didn’t go to plan. Little is at the minute. I was about to board the park and ride bus when a message came from my friend. A plumbing emergency had occurred and she couldn’t leave home. A decision to make, did I want to go anyway and wander the shops or would I be better to go home. Off home I went, much to Mr C’s surprise, intent on catching up with some almost finished paperwork. Did I? Of course not, we both caught up with a tv programme we’d missed instead.

Headed out after lunch to look at curtains and fabric - again. Dithering whether to replace our living room curtains or paint the wall a different colour to give some definition. It’s all a bit bland. Still undecided a decision was. We’ll re-visit after Christmas as the decorations will brighten the room soon. I think it’s called planned procrastination!

Worrying news came later from our goddaughter . Her Mum has refused most food for a while and is now refusing liquid. Oh how I wish we were closer. She needs a huge hug and some practical support. I’d love to see my oldest friend again too.

A physio appointment late morning. Coffee on the way, I will finish that paperwork this afternoon. Apologies, I’ve gone on a bit this morning.

Best wishes to all. Have the best day you can everyone.

Greyduster Thu 06-Nov-25 07:32:33

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire. It looks damp out there.

Yesterday after writers group I had an appointment to get my eyes tested. I asked for my usual appointment to be brought forward because I’ve felt that I had a few problems recently. Apparently there is nothing fundamentally wrong with my eyes - they are in good nick for someone my age - but my prescriptions have changed so that I no longer need glasses for reading but need stronger glasses for driving. Well that’s out of the way for another year.

Walking group this morning, then lunch with DD.

Have the best day you can, folks.

ginny Thu 06-Nov-25 07:34:44

Good morning everyone.
My hair appointment was changed yesterday and I discovered later that my hairdressers partner had died from a heart attack. He was only 34 years old. So sad.

I’m hoping it stays dry as we have a few jobs to be done in the garden. This afternoon is Sewing club. Afterwards l’ll pop in to see DGSs2 &3 and hear all about their holiday.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

madeleine45 Thu 06-Nov-25 07:46:53

Morning Mick and all GN's on a still damp looking and cold morning in North Yorkshire. I just cannot add Good to anything today yet. I shall have to wait for Bach and coffee to hopefully cheer me a little and get me started in a better mood. I am close to both tears and the wish to throw something through the window and scream this morning. Last night was yet another horror, with very little sleep, even though I feel exhausted, and two lots of wretched cramp to add to it, so that at about 5am was sat on the side of the bed , cold and miserable ,trying not to yell out and disturb neighbours, but darent even try to get to the kitchen and make a drink. So now finally I am up dressed, with much effort and being careful how I moved. My leg is very tight and jumping and it only takes one false move and it will start again. My hair though clean looks as though I have been pulled backwards through a hedge and I look very weary.

As today I wanted to be bright and at my best it is not a good start! I have very cautiously managed to get the bedding off and it is now in the washer and started, but whether I will be able to put it out is another matter. So this is not a good start to the morning, when I need to
1. Think of what to wear to be appropriate for a meeting at about 1030, where the councillor who will be there, will no doubt groan inwardly as she sees me bearing down on her, in a polite but determined manner to lobby yet again about the long term and short term problems caused by the awful pot holes on every road and path in the town. There is to be a talk about cyber safety, which I really want to listen to and get up to date on stuff. But

2. I also must watch the time and get off by about 1130am to go to the other womens group meeting. So annoying that they are always on at the same time! We are having a jacobs join sort of thing where the plan is to take something we like making or are good at, or is a very easy thing to make, and also take the recipes, to share. We are also taking things for our hampers, and I must remember to at least take some unused spare make up for one of them, and my very best Bonne Maman jam for the food one. In the meantime the cleaner will be coming, so in case I am not back before she comes I need to send her an email about what is the most important today. As you see, I needed to be at my best , not worst, to get through this day. Oh well Bach should be on shortly and fingers crossed it is something I like in particular, preferably not organ music today. I could do with some Brandenburg to lift the spirits!!

Well not the Brandenburg but a lovely cantata sung well and definitely a spirit lifter for me today. A bit lighter today and hope that I dont get caught in a promised shower this morning, as the only way I am going to be able to get to both meetings is to use the yellow peril , so that I can take it into the library and not have the hassle of trying to park the car, which no doubt today would be a hassle! Well lucky for the councillor and anyone else who crosses my path today that the glorious J S Bach has cheered me. I would of course be polite and not swear or anything, but in the way people think of the avatar things or what you look like inside, in this mood I become a terrier, which will not let go, no matter how they try to ignore or avoid dealing with the problems. So, hope they have had a good breakfast, I shall have my boring weetabix, which makes sure I have some milk, but then my lovely coffee and a slice of a great bread that is a little treat for me, with cranberry, nuts and fruit in it. The nearest thing to cake I should have being diabetic, but a good cheerer of the day!!

Yesterday I managed to get some bits of shopping I needed, and milk and bread which I was nearly out of, struggling with my back most of the morning and of course knees complaining at poor walking posture. I went to cafe nero, partly as a treat to enjoy some coffee in a comfortable seat and check emails etc whilst I was there. The pavements were so bad that my back was hurting so much that I couldnt face driving home for a while. Went to look in yet another new charity shop just opened in aid of the dogs home etc, Didnt find anything I wanted, but said hallo to the new people there, and also spoke to a lady sorting things, and asked her to watch out for Eurogames, a peppermill and books by an author she didnt have out. So made myself known and at least I was also able to send a message to a friend charlotte as they were looking for two staff members and as they look to be full time, thought she might be interested. How great if she applied for the job and got it , I would have my own sorter there who could let me know if anything I would like comes in. Good for the charity and good for me! well shall just see how that pans out.

I was so weary and too much pain to be able to go down and watch the bonfire and the fireworks, but luckily where I live, I was able to take my folding chair out, put my big coat on and sit and watch all the lovely starbursts etc from my own home. Enjoyed them, but a little sad that there was no one else enjoying them here to share them with. Never mind they were worth watching, and I never tire of good fireworks, but missed having any sparklers to write my name in the sky with.

So I had better start getting things sorted out and will have to wet my hair and blow dry it again as it looks so odd and onesided. Not the organised and determined person I want to look this morning. Gird up the loins for discussion, and if needs be battle. If I dont get any joy this morning, my next plan is to either just go to a council meeting myself, or if possible thought I might get everyone I speak to re the roads , who are also fed up with it all, to take a photo of the worst bit near their homes and then we can all go en masse to show how much of the town is not fit for purpose and stopping people being able to go out and about. Perhaps if they can see how many people can tell them how much they are missing and how much worse it will become in winter , maybe they will see the light. If not I shall be showing a light in the local paper and possibly on local radio. I have given them weeks to do something and am now sick of excuses and waffle. Something needs sorting and that can not only be my goal for this month but if necessary it will become my New Years Resolution to get something done, and they will be sick of the sight of me before long. Fair warning has been given!! Boudicea has nothing on me! May not have the chariot with knives at the side, but the yellow peril will be my chosen transport and the sight of it should strike , if not terror, then sighs of knowing what is coming , and if in no other way , wear them down so that they DO something!! Well there has been a lot of music I like on this morning, so thankyou radio 3 for cheering my day as always.

Mick, hope you have a good day and meet friends and miss the rain. Bellasnana, very pretty nails. I admire lots of well done and well looked after nails, but dont join the throng as I am a gardener and my thing is to keep my nails reasonably short and clean, and dont think sticking my hands in the soil will improve them. Well done GrandMattie. You have got Teflon man on your side at last, but although he says he cant do things due to the rules he has to work by, you can smile sweetly and say you understand, but that it wont stop your group contacting people like age concern, citizens advice etc etc and then onto the local papers to explain what is , or rather is not happening. Bad publicity is something they will want to avoid, despite deserving it, so that gives you another weapon in your armoury!! Yes I knew about the dogs and the medical check things. did you know that they can also recognise cancer and other illness in people, because I presume of a slight change in their normal smell. So if your dog starts to behave in this way, sitting looking at you etc in an unusual way it could be worth checking up on your health. We really do not recognise just how marvellous their sense of smell is, but now search and rescue dogs and people watching crufts where they had dogs finding their owners handkerchief from a circle of different ones , all contribute to seeing what marvellous things they are able to do. Karmalady you seem to have struck lucky finding a reputable garage to move to. sounds as though the car would be best for your trip to Wells, giving it a run out before the winter weather sets in, and also gets you there in a better time. So glad that the boiler situation is sorted for you and so you face winter in a better way now. Susan56 Hope today is less hectic for you. Very good news about sorting out the Facetime with your mum. It is of course not as good as being able to be there in person, but is a great way to keep in touch and up to date with how things are going, and hopefully give you more peace of mind to be aware of how she is etc.

Well hope everyone has a good day and as mine is at last improving slightly , hope that it is a good sign for us all to enjoy the day. Be kind to yourself (I need to read that myself!) and perhaps today is the day to get in touch with a friend or relative you havent heard from for a while? Happy day everyone
