Good morning from Bristol.
I woke up feeling very puzzled. In this dream, I was driving to my Spanish class (I gave up 3 years ago) and stopped on what I thought as a different route , to ask my way there. My car was stolen. I needed to call DH (who died 4 years ago) but my mobile was in the car…
Not much done yesterday, a nice onion soup, a bit of sewing, ditto knitting.🧶, dinner at DD’s. She told me that she had been at theological college with the new vicar of st. Mary Redcliffe, her old parish. He came to visit with his two sons who, poor things, rejoice in the names of Oberon and Apollo.
Today, I’ve got Spanish first thing and that’s it. I shall try to finish the baby quilt I’m making.
May today bring relief to those with troubles. Carpe diem 🦤🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from a very murky hillside in south Glos, it’s looking quite atmospheric in a Hound of the Baskerville’s kind of way 😬
I had a lovely chat with my hairdresser yesterday, she’s so lovely, then I treated myself to lunch before coming home. I can’t remember the last time I had lunch out. All very relaxed and enjoyable.
Not a lot happened otherwise, usual chores etc.
My allergy rash isn’t improving with the strong antihistamines, not sure what else to try. It’s so exasperating, I can’t figure out what causes it but it certainly isn’t sun sensitivity this time! It from below my elbows up and across my chest, from the knees down too 🤷🏼‍♀️
Definitely not changed washing powder, soap or anything else.
Oh bum!
Wishing you all a peaceful day 🌹

Good morning from s somerset, rain soon

Good to hear about the working phone Mick

It was a non-stop shattering day yesterday. mainly cooking in the kitchen and planting lots of spring bulbs and plants. De-weeding several areas and cleaning the `communal` storm drain which has a magic fairy cleaner, me

My dds were talking about Christmas cakes and how they felt like making them this year, that set me off and I have prepped for the Delia classic, not having made one since 2014. That needed an early walk into town and a weight-lifting walk home. The fruits etc are ready, soaked in brandy, tin lined and so on

I finished all my jobs by 3 but was completely zonked, however I made cottage cheese which looks good and soup for three days

It was like the last blast of summer outside, hence me doing so much in the garden and the communal turning area. I was like a whirling dervish but it is done and hopefully the weeds will get the message

Today, cake assembly and I will be baking that, knitting and anxiously following progress of gansey to ds. It has just been tracked to Glasgow sorting office, not quite the 48 hour delivery I thought I was buying on monday. Still at least it is still visible on tracking

I impulsively cancelled my big ocado order for today, could not face putting it all away. I need some RnR after yesterday

Have a good day

Pantglas2 Fri 07-Nov-25 05:38:56

Good morning Mick and all to follow from a dry and dark north Wales coast where I’m enjoying the chamberpot in bed…

I can hear snoring 💤 in the servants quarters where he’s been relegated for a week to test his theory that we both sleep better apart but it seems awful lonely for just an extra hour’s sleep…☹️

Thoughts with Gingster and Dragonfly managing husbands’ difficulties 💐

A trot to Bangor for food shop this morning which means passing TKMaxx, Dunelm and The Range - you can see how this will end…🤭

Loved those nails Bellasnana, alas mine don’t measure up and I’ve ordered Polishey pens in a vain attempt to keep them presentable…photo to follow!

Have a good start to the weekend everyone x

karmalady Fri 07-Nov-25 05:41:06

Roseandlilac if you are taking B12, then consider a cobalt allergy

Bellasnana Fri 07-Nov-25 05:59:04

Good morning from Malta where it has rained overnight and more is forecast with a high of 22°C.

Had a lovely morning catching up with my friend then met up with another friend in the afternoon who is just back from a holiday in Thailand.

I also went a gave my car a clean at the do it yourself car wash. Might have known it would rain after that!

Today I will steam mop the floors, do a bit of dusting and hope it isn’t raining when I go for my hair appointment at noon.

DD3 has asked me to keep Milo once every fortnight so she can employ a cleaner. I suppose it’s good to be needed!

Pantglas I laughed at your post😂 you have a way with words. I wouldn’t like separate rooms either, I’d give anything to have DH back snoring beside me. Get your DH out of the servants quarters asap!😄

Wishing you all a good day, thoughts to all our mountaineers.☀️

grandMattie Fri 07-Nov-25 06:09:57

😂😂😂 pant, but like bellas, I would give anything to have DH’s snoring by me…

kittylester Fri 07-Nov-25 06:52:21

Good morning all from North Leicestershire.

We sleep separately pant and we definitely both sleep better.

DH has a hair appointment first thing and I am going to the egg farm, pet shop, butchers and Waitrose.

Our neighbour who was mugged has the most impressive incision site - approx 6" long. And she has.no hair. She is expected to fully recover and is waiting to find out when she can fly home.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Greyduster Fri 07-Nov-25 06:57:20

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where we are being treated to a lovely soft watercolour wash of a sunrise. It’s going to be a wet afternoon. Yesterday morning we had a lovely long ramble through the woods with sunlight filtering through the trees. Lunch with DD and a quick call on my niece on the way home where we reminisced about what a lovely, funny lady her mother - the elder of my two late sisters - was.
Today, a general tidy up and then school volunteering this afternoon.
Have the best day you can, folks.

GrannyIvy Fri 07-Nov-25 07:01:17

Good morning from a grey still dark Cambridgeshire.

Yesterday I went to Pilates class a lot of the regulars have disappeared over the last few months for various reasons and new rather needy ladies have joined somewhat slowing the pace but we are predominantly a class of over 70’s. I then went off to have my eyebrows and eyelashes tinted a new experience for me. I am pleased with the result but apparently lasts only around 3 to 4 weeks so see how I go!!

Today bed needs changing and must do housework upstairs. Seems to have been a nothing much happening week. My dear snorer stays beside me with a gentle nudge from time to time 💤

Wishing the best possible day to all

madeleine45 Fri 07-Nov-25 07:22:05

Good morning Mick and all GN's from a very dark, still morning in North Yorkshire. Cant even see the outline of the tree yet and quickly closed the curtains again from the cold coming through. Sat in my dressing gown, not up to moving about much yet so have to leave the shower for a little while and hope I can move around a bit better soon. Still a better morning than yesterday, no cramp, which is something to be grateful for , fingers crossed. Feel very tired and weary this morning so it will be a slow start.

I had a very tiring but at least productive day yesterday, but do rather feel I am paying for it today. Having started the day so badly I was really struggling to get what I needed done and organised for the 2 meetings. However with a bit of a struggle, I managed to get the bedding out on the line, and then remembered all the bits for the second meeting, so lovely Bonne Maman and some soups for the food hamper, and at last found the never touched set of the bath bomb and creams etc, and also even remembered to add a couple of little glass jars, that I could contribute to the other arts and crafts lot for doing things like t-lights in etc. So then it was rather a rush to load up everything, lock up and off to the library for the first meeting.

I managed to get there about 10 minutes after it had started and the police woman was already there and had started talking about cyber crimes etc. I hadnt missed much and what she began with I was already up to date on, so finally had time to sit down and relax a little and follow her talk. She went through various scenarios and had an interesting video, which showed both men and women giving out so much information about their passwords and names and all sorts. You would not credit the stupidity of people, who under the guise of market research or such, quite happily told people their names, birthdays or zodiac signs etc. It was very easy to see how much information crooks can gain from you if you are not on your guard. Partly because of my background in communications but partly I am somewhat of a Victor Meldrew mixed with Diana Trent from Waiting for God charactor, and treat all such people with suspicion, I am usually polite but always decline to answer such things. Occasionally , when I have been rather suspicious, have even contacted the police about such things, but that was twice in the "old" days when you could find a policeman round the corner, and they were able to check it out immediately, not hanging on a phone for hours or sending messages online that you do not know if they are even read, never mind acted upon! Anyway she then went on to other various things, one or two of which I did not know about, such as you can put your email address on this site and they can show what has been known about that etc. Of course , she warned about callers to the door etc, and said it was fine not to answer, or to ring the company and check on the caller. I then told her that my way was to say pleasantly "which is your best side" as I took their photo. For genuine people there should be no worry, if they are calling on a real matter, and once you have confirmed who they are the photo is easily deleted in front of them. Any that hurry off, if you think they are really dodgy, you then have a photo to show the police too. But there was also various bits and pieces that I had not considered, or did not know about and was very pleased to have managed to get there. She also had some leaflets about stuff like phishing etc, so I asked if I could take some extra to go to the other womens group which was fine. Then I didnt have time to sit and chat but had to hurry off to the other meeting, and managed to get in at the tail end , so was glad to have a welcome coffee and a slice of cake, which was very good and was made from yoghurt and an easy recipe of 1 cup of this and 1 cup of that, so although I darent make one for myself - too tempted to eat it all, being on my own, am glad to have the recipe for the future. My gifts for the hampers where received well and the plan for next week is to have a meeting at a local cafe with a quiz etc. The following week is going to be the great Yoga lady, who is very nice and also reminds me, not to forget to do a bit of yoga every day, which I tend to forget when life gets busy or very painful. I do usually feel calmer if not physically better by doing it, so wonder why I dont plan it in for every day? On that day we are also going to sort through all the gifts and make up the hampers and see if there is anything missing that is really needed, make them all up and sort of gift wrap them and then get the raffle tickets ready and start selling them at the end of November, hopefully getting in before the many similar things and coffee mornings in december.

Well no time to waste, then had to get back on the yellow peril and go straight home, and it was just beginning to spit with rain as I arrived. Luckily , just timed it right as the cleaner was just pulling up, so handed bags and keys to her to go in whilst I got the basket and charged off to the washing line to rescue the washing. It wasnt dry but had a good lot off it and smelt good and so I was very glad to get inside after hastily covering the buggy, and collapsed in a heap in the chair. Felt so shattered I just had a coffee and contributed little to the grand clean up and was very glad to see them turn the chaos into clean and tidy place. Bathroom sparkling, bed turned and made up for me. I did rouse myself when Jessie suggested that they missing case might be in the garage, and so she came round with me to open the wretched up and over doors which I find difficult to do and hurrah, worth the effort as I retrieved the red case and also found my spirit level and a long lead, not on a reel but never the less will be very good to extend the ironing board lead so that I can do the ironing in a better space. So an extra thing ticked of the many jobs not done! Hurrah for all their efforts, as I think I would have just sat in the tip I was so weary.

In fact all I really did in the afternoon, was put some things away, go through a bit of paperwork in a rather desultory manner and then sat watching Downton Abbey on the tv. After the horrible night I had had, it was so tempting to go to bed and sleep but then you are getting into such bad sleeping patterns, so I managed to stay up until about 9.30pm and then bliss, got washed and into my lovely clean bed in a neat and tidy room.

So the only thing I definitely need to do today is get the D@S newspaper, check where my passport is and is it up to date, suddenly thought havent checked it for a while. Then with hopefully some lovely music on radio 3 settle down to more sorting of the wretched dresser stuff. If I cant face that , the ironing basket is now full again, so will catch up on that . It will be a warming job to do on a chilly day. Once I have the paper I can see what is happening round here at the weekend, such as church hall sales now it is too chilly to be outside, and I think that there is an art exhibition that I might get to. If it stays dry I will try and have a little drive out into the countryside to enjoy the wonderful autumn colours as they wont be lasting long with the wind and rain we have been having. But really I need a quiet time to rest and recuperate. One thing I am going to fill in is there has been a questionairre given out from the first meeting, which is from the council asking about how you feel about things in the town, comments on various things. Just played into my hands as it will give me the chance to explain about the long term effects of not dealing with the potholes and I shall rally friends and acquaintances to do the same and perhaps if everyone sends in similar comments they might actually use their brains and see that they are not insignificant problems but could be the start of a major problem and even their being sued. I dont want that to happen, just want it to be safe to walk down the town. Surely that is not too much to ask for!!

Good to know that your digital phone is up and working. You have done very well with the transfer Mick and hope that you can enjoy your day today. GrandMattie, Odd how some dreams are so vivid and yet seem to make no sense isnt it? Well you have had such a busy time lately, I hope you can have an easier day today and be able to relax a bit. Karmalady you certainly worked hard yesterday and hope you can get a bit more rest today. Dont blame you putting off order coming. sometimes that is the last straw isnt it? Hope the gansey makes it to your son ok. Pantglas2 I am definitely with you, and think you dh should return to your bed forthwith! If he slept less than you he could at least come in and join you in the morning. I miss my husband being next to me even after quite a long time. He was lucky in that he was able to sleep , as we say , on a clothes peg. So it never bothered him if I was turning around trying to get comfortable and could even put my light on and read, it never woke him. But if I had a nightmare or cramp he was there and was such a comfort to me. I still enjoy getting into a lovely clean bed but it is never quite a lovely as when he was there too. Bellasnana, sounds as though you had a good catch up with your friend. Hope the hairdressers goes well and you like the result.

Well a little more daylight now, have heard my Bach and cautiously think I can move around well enough to get into the shower and begin my day. Not raining but looks grey and miserable so dont think it is going to be worth even a little ride out to see any colours today , so a domestic day and the paper looks more likely. I might make a curry for tonight , at some point and then no doubt will be watching the gardening programme this evening, noticing all the things I have yet to do in mine. Have a good day everyone and hope you meet with a friend or do something nice to cheer the grey day up.

Good morning from a bright W Kent. Eleven of us at art yesterday and we have our Christmas dinner now booked at a local college where we shall be cooked for and served by the students.
Shopping this morning and deaf group this afternoon.
We woke each other up this morning but neither of us are snorers
Best wishes

Grandmabatty Fri 07-Nov-25 07:23:47

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and has been raining heavily although it's dry at the moment. It felt quite balmy when I was putting out the bin earlier. Kittylester it sounds like your neighbour was very lucky it wasn't worse. GrandMattie I used to come across the most unusual names when teaching but never an Apollo!
Yesterday I did more sorting out of the dining room and threw out stuff too. In the afternoon I went to the lawyer and signed over the rights to mum's flat to my brother. I was glad to no longer have any responsibility for it as my brother refuses to get insurance for it not maintain it properly. His long term plan is to buy a canal boat to live on. I thought he had changed his mind on that but he mentioned it yesterday. He is absolutely clueless. He is in his mid 60s and has no experience of maintaining a boat. Oh well, not my problem I suppose.
Today I might go to the school library for half an hour to tidy up. Then do housework at home. Perhaps cheese omelette for dinner. Have a good day all.

Redcar Fri 07-Nov-25 07:24:15

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s cloudy, with the sun trying to break through. Mild again. It was showery yesterday morning, but a few gleams of sun every now and then. I cleaned the fridge and felt ridiculously pleased to see it nice and clean before filling it when the Ocado delivery arrived!
Today I may go for a walk if it stays dry and there’s a few things to iron. As always the flat surfaces need to be cleared of the stuff that appears on them.
mick a relief that your digital phone is working satisfactorily.

karma I haven’t made a Christmas cake for many years, mainly because my family aren’t keen on fruit cake. You certainly had a busy day yesterday!

Thinking of all who are struggling in any way.
Have the best day you can everyone.

M0nica Fri 07-Nov-25 07:25:58

I have been up since 6.00am, but only just found this thread.

For some reason I was absolutely exhausted yesterday. Even my digestion gave up. We went to a farm shop to order the Christmas turkey etc and I had a BLT sandwich in the cafe for lunch, admittedly it was a three decker, but came with no extras, but by the time i got home I felt as if I had been force fed a 5 course meal. i still felt bloated at bedtime, so I did nothing all afternoon and went to bed shortly after 8.00pm.

Anyway this morning I have woken early feeling bright-eyed and bushy tailed. I forgot to put the bins out last night but was up today and remembered quite early, so the bin men have been and my bin is empty.

Today DH's car goes in for repairs, I will continue the decorating, sort some paperwork and end the day with a bang by going to a firework display.

grandMattie Fri 07-Nov-25 07:30:09

I’ve just found out that there is a burst water main. No water!💦. I’m very glad I’m going out soon for the whole morning.

merlotgran Fri 07-Nov-25 07:35:04

Good morning all from an overcast but dry south coast. Rain is expected later this afternoon.
Lunch will be Chinese with the U3a World Cuisine group today. I’ll get the bus rather than drive then I can have a glass of wine. There are usually quite a few of us on the same bus for that reason! 😂
I had a different hairdresser yesterday and I hate what she’s done. They all seem to go down the same route where a layered bob is concerned cutting chunks out of the sides which take a couple of months to grow back. It’s definitely time to find another salon.
I hope everyone has a pleasant day.

brook2704 Fri 07-Nov-25 07:36:20

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s just getting light, it looks cloudy and dry
Good news about your neighbour kitty
I’ve a quick volunteer session this morning then a dance class at the gym. I need to go into town this afternoon to return a couple of items so I’ll have a browse around the shops whilst there too
Pleased your late mums house is now sorted for you grandmabatty
Hope you’re not too long without water gMattie
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Grandmabatty Fri 07-Nov-25 07:45:58

GrandMattie that's a nuisance! Fingers crossed it is fixed soon

Ashcombe Fri 07-Nov-25 07:46:01

Good morning from a fine Torbay where it continues to be mild.

A low turnout at the play rehearsal last night due to the director having Covid and some uncertainty as to whether we were meeting. We made something of the few who had bothered.

Just enjoyed a phone call from DD2 en route to work. DGS2, who is 15, fainted the other day and was in A & E for several hours, mainly due to a bump on his head. No real problem except for low BP and a slow heart rate. He is very fit due to the amount of sport he undertakes.

Wishing everyone as good a day as possible especially those who are unwell or have health concerns with loved ones. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

cornergran Fri 07-Nov-25 07:47:06

Morning Mick, morning All from a clouding over corner of Somerset. Rain forecast by lunch time.

Much to my surprise last evenings meeting was interesting and informative about local changes. It took my mind away from shoulder and arm pain, the surgery physio having cheerfully attempted to remove both from my body. There will be an x-ray and if all is as she believes a steroid injection

Some grocery bits and pieces to gather this morning, little else planned other than some ironing. Mr C began a puzzle yesterday and will be immersed in that.

Have the best day possible everyone.

ginny Fri 07-Nov-25 07:47:36

Good morning from a somewhat murky, damp N. Bucks. The weekend forecast is a bit better so hopefully we will get those garden jobs done then.
After a quick tidy up this morning I am off to a large warehouse with DD3 to have a wander and stock up on some essentials.
This afternoon I shall hopefully be finishing off various sweet treats. Mince pies, sugar mice, lollipops, candy canes, Christmas puds and gingerbread to name a few. Luckily they are all calorie free being made of felt and fabric.
Hope the day brings some relief to those who are poorly or have troubles and a good day wished for everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 07-Nov-25 07:52:27

Good morning all, I have been up for ages, the 10yr old has just gone to school.

I am going to lay on bed with toast and a latte, before getting ready for the gym.

Indian restaurant for dinner tonight 🙋‍♀️

Jaxjacky Fri 07-Nov-25 08:02:39

Morning from a dull S Hants, rain due at tea/pub time. MrJ, a gentle snorer, is out already on a voluntary drive, traffic will be dire.
Yesterday I tackled the mobiles and Sky contracts, all had expired, so played the ‘what can you do for me or I might go elsewhere’ game, such a dance.
Pub patio is planted out with bulbs and viola; stretch class, grocery delivery and pub today.
That’s annoying gMattie.
A weight off your mind Grandmabatty, not hovering to be done.
I hope for better news for the poorlies.
