So who s around ?

BlueBelle Thu 20-Nov-25 06:07:37

A very good result for me last night, slept till 4.11, wasn’t expecting that, as I slept most of the evening.
Is was a very cold night, I woke up a few times briefly to put the electric blanket on for another hour, but didn’t really wake up properly.

HelterSkelter1 Thu 20-Nov-25 06:19:04

I refilled both hotties an hour ago. They are both the same age, both red, both filled at the same time with the same amount of hot water. But one is now much hotter than the other.

Thats enough to keep me awake wondering why??

Cabbie21 Thu 20-Nov-25 06:55:40

Woke at 5.15. Just been to make a cuppa and will stay awake now

Bridie22 Thu 20-Nov-25 07:07:35

Awake since 5, sat watching the snow with a second cuppa, its a chilly one 🥶🥶( the weather, not my cuppa !)

BlueBelle Thu 20-Nov-25 07:07:55

Helterskelter one may have worn a bit thinner than the other that’s all I can think of

This is a great thread if you’re awake early. Strangely, since I noticed it and thought a bit of company would be a good idea,I’ve slept through till six the last few days.

BlueBelle Thu 20-Nov-25 07:40:49

Hahaha I love that a thread for non sleepers sends you to sleep
🤣🤣

Aveline Thu 20-Nov-25 08:24:18

I was up to spend a penny at 5 but fell asleep again and dreamt I was in the army section at a care home. I woke up protesting that I just can't march!

I am studying Welsh grandMattie.I started attending lessons a couple of years ago alongside Duolingo.Only problem is my teacher is from North Wales and my husband from West Wales so he complains about my pronunciation.

Fell back asleep and had luckily set my alarm for 8 to phone my granddaughter to wish her a happy birthday!

Yes, it sort of is a comforting thought "someone else is in!!!" when generally GN generally closes for business around 11.30ish..

Surprisingly I went back to sleep after an hour. Woke at 5:56. But I feel sleepy now !

Nandalot Fri 21-Nov-25 03:22:25

Hi. Any 3 amers out there?
Started the night well but am wide awake now. Too cold to leave the bed so small light on and iPad on with DH snoring beside me!

Nannytopsy Fri 21-Nov-25 03:30:57

Morning Nandalot ! I woke up in a weird dream and now I’m wide awake. I have just looked out and it’s clear and starry, wit Orion just outside the window.
I will snuggle down again.

Salti Fri 21-Nov-25 03:34:08

I'm awake. I'm just deciding whether to grab my fleece hoody and go to the kitchen to make a coffee. I've got a husband snoring away gently beside me too ..... After inadvertently waking me up!

rafichagran Fri 21-Nov-25 03:49:47

Usedtobeblonde Fri 21-Nov-25 04:07:53

I have only just joined this thread although I am awake most nights from about 3am.
It was earlier tonight approximately 2:10.
I have been to the bathroom twice, caught up on last nights GN, checked my banking app and done a little money sorting, read for half an hour and then decided to check out and join in this thread.
Probably see you all tomorrow at roughly the same time.

Good morning. I have at last got up after lying awake for around two hours. It's just so cold at the moment that it's hard to leave a cosy bed. I'm currently reading one of Phillipa Gregory's books, so at least I have something quiet to do. One of the problems of being an early riser is not wanting to disturb others who are still sleeping. I've discovered that my neighbour is usually up at about 4am, and the chap downstairs gets up at 5am, so I'm not the only one.

TerriBull Fri 21-Nov-25 05:29:26

Good morning early morning people, lying here awake wondering whether to get up, but on my trip to the bathroom decided it's too cold. Not too long to go before rising would be considered perfectly normal. In the meantime I'll listen to something.

HelterSkelter1 Fri 21-Nov-25 05:50:00

Me too. I woke at 4.00 and made a large mug of tea and refilled my hotties. I read some BBC news and will watch another episode of The Crown. My bed is cosy. I put a brushed cotton sheet on under the duvet and that has made quite a difference. My bed socks come off in the night so I will sort out a pair of normal socks for tonight.
It must be cold out there . We are west of London in N Surrey. Sympathies to tbose in the north and east with snow and ice. It does seem early this year for this cold snap.

grandMattie Fri 21-Nov-25 05:52:37

Oh, I had a really long (for me) night! It makes such a difference having more sleep, doesn’t it?
I’m very lucky that I very rarely need to go to the loo during the night, so that is one fewer thing to disturb my (lack of) sleep.
My late DH, bless him, used to put the heating timer on for 5 am, so when I got up so I wouldn’t disturb him, and be warm.
Since I moved to sheltered housing, I only have night storage heaters which are horrible. It is very hard to control the output and the modern ones have little computers which confuse the issue further.
I hope others managed some sleep!

Magenta8 Fri 21-Nov-25 06:21:44

Morning all. Chilly again. Been awake since 4.45am. Have a good day.

BlueBelle Fri 21-Nov-25 06:28:40

I ve had a good night went to sleep about midnight and slept until nearly 4, after writing on here and having a quick trip to the loo I cuddled down and had another hour so a really good night for me.
I don’t have any central heating so I rely on my bed to be cosy I sleep in a sleeping bag with a duvet on top and a nice fluffy blanket on top of that plus two hotties one to cuddle and one at my feet as you can imagine I live and sleep on my own wouldn’t need so much if I had a gorgeous hunk to cuddle me 🤣🤣🤣 I like sleeping in a sleeping bag as it contains me in a smaller space …. More cosy
